Sure he probably was lying. Maybe he wasn't and should have had the maturity to handle it differently, who knows, but for a random stranger to handle this KID in this way is horrific!

AIBU?

ok..does anyone Scottish think the "Big Man" was out of order..interested to know Wink

yellowraincoat · 12/12/2011 21:19

Oh, I'm so sorry baubleybobbityhat, I'll make sure I stick directly to the point from now on, I couldn't possibly expect people to make the jump about resentment being misplaced.

ExcitedElectrons - so the just punishment for fare dodging is being thrown physcially off a train now? That's weird, because I didn't get that update.

It's not up to some jumped up yahoo on a train to decide how to punish people.

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 12/12/2011 21:20

ok yellowraincoat..maybe you have lived in England too long..anyone else? Grin

yellowraincoat · 12/12/2011 21:21

I'm Scottish, Fanjo, and yeah, I do think that.

An investigation has been launched into this anyway. So that's loads more of our money down the drain. Would have just been cheaper to let him off with it, really.

yellowraincoat · 12/12/2011 21:22

Yeah, I've lived in England for 2 years, compared with 26 in Scotland, so I doubt it.

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 12/12/2011 21:22

have you got much experience of having life made miserable by horrible neds?

baubleybobbityhat · 12/12/2011 21:22

No need for sarcasm yrc.

ExcitedElectrons · 12/12/2011 21:23

yellow raincoat the boy wouldn't get off the train, he was wasting people's times. Why should he get to stay on the train without paying when other people had paid? As he wouldn't get off the train he deserved to get thrown off, he's hardly a little boy is he? I'm sure he can handle it Hmm and may even teach him to not be so rude. He should be fined as well.

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 12/12/2011 21:23

i am being facetious..but it did occur to me that he was a particularly scottish breed of annoying person

redlac · 12/12/2011 21:23

Scottish and I think the wee ned deserved it - especially after reading his Facebook wall.

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 12/12/2011 21:23

and perhaps those of us who have encountered his type far too many times are quite pleased to see him finally get stood up to.

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 12/12/2011 21:24

exactly redlac...I cant find his Facebook wall and wish I could..mind you it would make me annoyed!!

redlac · 12/12/2011 21:24

Oh and I do have my life daily made miserable by wee scores like that

yellowraincoat · 12/12/2011 21:26

I couldn't care less if he's a child or a pensioner, Excited Electrons, it's got nothing to do with his age.

If you think that a big man throwing someone off a train is acceptable, I'd pretty much class you as a ned, personally.

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 12/12/2011 21:26

me too..so go the Big Man

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 12/12/2011 21:26

oh I'm a ned now Grin

ExcitedElectrons · 12/12/2011 21:30

Well I quite love being a ned thank you.

So you believe this boy should stay on the train regardless of not paying for a ticket hmm?

dontletthebellsend · 12/12/2011 21:31

" so the just punishment for fare dodging is being thrown physcially off a train now?"

Yes. It always has been. Otherwise trains would just remain at stations until the faredodger dies. The police would have had to throw him off too if he didn't move unless the BTP has levitators on its staff.

redlac · 12/12/2011 21:32

Yellow i think it has everything to do with his age - he's a wee fud with a big sense on entitlement which he will grow out of. The guy is a university student who thought he was a Big Man against the older Conductor - I would bet in a couple of years time when he is trying to get a job and employers search his name he will regret this more than he can ever imagine

onefatcat · 12/12/2011 21:33

That's what is wrong with the world, everyone thinks you have rights even if you are breaking the law! If more people were prepared to stand up to them and give those that think they can do what they like what's coming to them then the world would be a happier place. The kid didn't have ticket, throw him off!

As I, and others, have said, they should have called the Transport Police. That is what should happen in that situation.

redlac · 12/12/2011 21:35

I wouldn't have bought him a ticket - maybe if he had pleaded poverty but he was being a smart arsed ned and why would anyone bail him out with that attitude?

ExcitedElectrons · 12/12/2011 21:36

"they should have called the Transport Police"

What a waste of time. Kick the fucker out and everyone can get on with the rest of their day.

He did NOT pay for a ticket. This is a crime. Therefore he gets kicked off the train. :)

redlac · 12/12/2011 21:37

Yellow as I mentioned up thread the transport police would have taken at least 30 mins to get there and there is no way that line would have been halted for that amount of time. Nearest stations to linlithgow is Stirling or Edinburgh which have transport police
