To find this Starbucks member of staff downright rude???

Just went to a toddler music and softplay session with DD and afterwards went for lunch at the on-site Starbucks. The 2 female members of staff in there are pretty miserable so and so's anyway - for example I bought a sausage bap, croque monsieur panini and cinnamon swirl and asked for a knife and was told 'wait a moment' ??!

Anyhoo I cut up the bap and panini for DD and I to share with the rather pathetic plastic knife and then when I went to cut up the cinnamon swirl noticed several of the plastic teeth of the knife had come off and were attached to the bottom of the cake!!

Took said cake back and despite there being only 1 customer practically had to do a star jump to get their attention Hmm and told them what had happened and could I have a new cake. They reluctantly got one and then told me that 'you have to be careful using the knives' WTF 'I used it to cut a sandwich and a bun not saw through a table!!' and that that's why they don't really give them out and they are only really meant for the pasta salads!! Cos obv you need a knife for a pasta salad!!

I was somewhat taken aback at these comments but coming home am really peeved at the rudeness and the fact that they supply something that isn't fit for purpose and lets face it - if that's what happens when you cut something those knives shouldn't be used as chances are you might end up eating some of the plastic teeth as they are so small!!

Am going to write to Starbucks I think and suggest that maybe they should provide 'real' cutlery in their stores and teach their staff some customer service skills.........

Grrr Angry rant over!!!!!

What about paninho-ho-ho to give it a festive spin Xmas Grin.....

I don't normally need to cut up my own food in there but for the DC's it's essential and I practically have to measure it or DS will complain about not getting the biggest bit

Can't believe they throw it all away - now that IVVVU....

I think you eat all the food yourself and ask for a knife just to taunt your children into thinking they're going to get some of it.

Then you get more free cake and eat that, too. Xmas Smile

Damnit I've been sussed Xmas Blush.....

Got a very nice reply from SB which seems to address the concerns I raised re cutlery seriously and some complimentary drinks vouchers :)

You did better than I did, complaining about a cold "heated"panini, and lukewarm coffee slopped down the side of the mug, surly assistants, filthy tables, no napkins, and generally a foul place to be. Apparently this is to be expected at 3.30 on a busy Saturday afternoon, errm, they only had 2 staff as they others were on their 'break' and a queue of 20 people. Crapola!

alibubbles did you write to Starbucks? I emailed them and got a response the following day - might be worth a try if you didn't.

Sorry, you are being unreasonable if being asked to 'wait a moment' got your back up, cripes. The plastic knife episode was then doomed.

In fairness to you OP, I admit I had exactly the same experience with a starbucks plastic knife. And a scone it was in my case. Altho I only noticed that a few of the serrated bits were missing after eating said scone.

Staff in my local starbucks are all lovely though.

nickname it wasn't the wait a minute that bothered me - I was just asking as you do if you need cutlery and didn't expect it there and then at all it was the general tone, bluntness and lack of any sort of warmth in delivering customer service. I am always polite when I ask for something and always say please and thank you. The lady behind me when I took back the cake also commented about how sour faced the staff were to me. A smile costs nothing - and having been served numerous times by the same person I know it wasn't just that she was having an off day!!

rachelHRD it took them 2 weeks to email back and then they have ignored my response to that email!
