AIBU to think he is a prize prat I don't care if he is trying to be funny and shocking he is just another reason why I never have and never will vote Tory.

OP posts:

Capricorn - seriously he said that just after supportive comments because he was joking about the BBC needing different views to balance it out, so he jokingly gave them a different view.

Those two lads were inciting at a time when people WERE actually going out and rioting. I don't see anyone going out and shooting strikers, it's not happening nor is it likely to happen. It's a completely different scenario.

TheRhubarb · 01/12/2011 12:33

Prescott is and always was a first rate knob.

Made us Northerners look thick as pigshit and ugly to boot.

SinicalSal · 01/12/2011 12:33

that's more like it Ry Grin

Quint isn't being unrealistic a negotiating position? Aim for the stars you might get the moon sort of thing

rycooler · 01/12/2011 12:36

Grin at 'probed by the police'

Capricorn76 · 01/12/2011 12:39

@Daywarbeck. Why is it when someone has a pop at the Coalition, some smartypants tries to paint them as a Labour supporter? I am not a Labour supporter so there's no need to bring some decade old Blair and Prescott case into it (and no I do not support violence and can't stand Tony Blair).

Can't stand it when people are so partisan - 'You hate Cameron, so you must love Bliar', 'Clarkson's a 'ledge innit', I love it when he winds up you Guardian reading lefties 'etc etc).

Hello, folks. Apols for highjack but, seeing as we've Ed Miliband coming onto MN for a webchat this lunchtime, mebbe someone would like to pop over to the webchat thread and ask him for his reaction to Clarkson's comments?

TheRhubarb · 01/12/2011 12:40

I mourn Screaming Lord Sutch at times like this.

Does Ed Miliband DO reactions? To anything?

I simply asked you if you were similarly disgusted by the Prescott incident. It's a fair question. You do seem awfully wound up and hostile.

NinkyNonker · 01/12/2011 12:44

I had a sneaky snigger at police probing too. Sad state of affairs.

Seriously, someone give me a job at Unison, I used to be bloody good at PR and they can't get any worse.

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 12:45

Hahaha I'm sure Ed will be OUTRAGED (As he's been told to be, by his press advisor and probably not have a clue about the rest of the interview). How could he possibly say anything else anyway?! Bit of a pointless question tbh.

NinkyNonker · 01/12/2011 12:46

I always think he looks like he should be in Team America LeQueen...don't know if anyone remembers that film...

Love him to bits. Love the way he winds up the tree hugger types, and they keep falling for it! So funny. (Sorry tree huggers.)

I know he's a dick, I know he's a juvenile, I even know he was just joking.

Problem is that as a sleb, he seems to have become an iconic figure much the same as Boris Johnson - ie such a rude, insensitive prat that it becomes funny to certain parts of the populace.

If the media was taking the strikes a bit more seriously, it wouldn't be quite so frustrating having a prick like Clarkson setting the agenda. I'm glad it turns out he actually supports the strikers, but how many of his supporters will remember that? He's a caricature and a role model for idiots everywhere. There are hundreds of thousands of fans of the 'JC for PM' page on FB. If people mobilised in those sorts of numbers for things that meant something, imagine what would be achieved. But no, let's all snigger along with him.

Nghrgghhjjhh.

OrmIrian · 01/12/2011 12:56

Can't we shoot Jeremy Clarkson instead?

Not an original sentiment i know but it stands repeating....
