I didn't think they looked skinny... They looked perfectly normal to me.

iooi · 19/11/2011 09:02

Only if you're a woman Hmm

Tee2072 · 19/11/2011 09:02

I agree Captain. I thought they looked great. Especially Sian who is 5 years older than me (so she's 47). I wish I looked that good!

ShatnersBassoon · 19/11/2011 09:07

They looked perfectly normal.

Dozer · 19/11/2011 09:14

Of course they have to be slim, young(ger, in comparison with the men) and good-looking, unlike their male colleagues.

MincePieFlavouredVoidka · 19/11/2011 09:15

Sian had great legs!

AFuckingKnackeredWoman · 19/11/2011 09:16

None of them looked unhealthy slim though...

SardineQueen · 19/11/2011 09:21

I missed it. Just the women or did the men have fab physiques too?

squeakytoy · 19/11/2011 09:23

They are all in the public eye, so they know there will be comments on their looks, hence they keep themselves in shape ...

Or let themselves go a bit, get "papped" jogging in the park with their personal trainer, and bring out a dvd Grin.

coraltoes · 19/11/2011 09:24

Uh they looked healthy not skinny... What size do you want them to be?? Unhealthily large?

seeker · 19/11/2011 09:25

Only if you are a woman. If you are a man you can be rotund, bald, bespectacled and old- it gives you gravitas. If you're a woman you've got to be eye candy.

SardineQueen · 19/11/2011 09:26

Were the men dancing not hot then?

I only catch C4 news these days with john and krishnan.

squeakytoy · 19/11/2011 09:27

There are a lot of women newsreaders who are not eye-candy. But looking groomed is certainly a requirement. They are hardly going to have some woman with no make-up, a birds nest of hair, and crumpled clothes on there.

SardineQueen · 19/11/2011 09:30

A lot of women newsreaders who are not good looking? I must have missed them.

The disparity in age & looks between the men and women is pretty stark.

seeker · 19/11/2011 09:30

"There are a lot of women newsreaders who are not eye-candy."

Name three.

lubeybooby · 19/11/2011 09:33

Sian is tiny, she must be a 4 - 6. Lollypop head (head bigger than her waist) she's very pretty though. They are all slim but she is soooo tiny.

I can't name three non eye candy female newsreaders.

LeBOF · 19/11/2011 09:41

I saw a female tv reporter at a demo recently- looks the regulation normal-to-slim on screen. In real life, I could have put my hands around her waist and have them meet.

Chandon · 19/11/2011 09:47

Why do you care?

I really couldn't care less.

Pan · 19/11/2011 09:48

I had reason to be interviewed recently by a radio reporter - young, slim and very pretty. Not sure all of that will come across in broadcast. 'Ear candy?'Hmm. But if she wishes a career in 'the media' she will have advantages.

Dawndonna · 19/11/2011 09:49

Yep. Slender and attractive, unless, as has been said, you're male.

difficulttimes · 19/11/2011 09:51

None of them are eye candy they just have very healthy figures

SardineQueen · 19/11/2011 10:00

None of them are eye candy I wouldn't have thought they are all professional journalists.

However the women are al also very good looking while the men are generally not

seeker · 19/11/2011 10:01

I care very that my daughter is growing up in a world where how women look matters at lease as much as how capable/qualified/talented they are.

I also care very much that she is growing up in a world where other women don't think this matters.

squeakytoy · 19/11/2011 10:10

Anyone can look well groomed and smart. Women tend to be more bothered about their appearance than men, and it would also look strange to see a male newsreader wearing lipstick, eyeliner and mascara.. all things that enhance the appearance, as I am pretty sure that without it, very few of the ladies reading the news would look quite so glamorous.

Nobody forces these women to do the jobs they do. They do it because they want to.

They are fully aware that reading the news puts them into the public eye and under the scrutiny of the general public, so they will do their best to make themselves look as attractive as possible. They do this because they want to. They do this because they can also afford to.

How anyone, male or female looks, does matter to a certain extent. Personal grooming is important, and women are able to do much more than men with a bit of make up to enhance their appearance. I doubt that will ever change, and see no reason why it should.

If you watch CIN you sacrifice all rights to complain about finding anything offensive; it's a self-inflicted injury.
