So. Large, child-safe room, DD playing happily on the floor, 5 min shag.

Oh and it's my birthday.

AIBU?

I wouldn't.

If she was asleep I would say yes but awake then no.

Yuk.

AuntiePickleBottom · 23/10/2011 09:09

yabu.

i couldn't have sex when DC where in the room, didn't feel right

carriedababi · 23/10/2011 09:09

While she's awake? No I wouldn't agree its,a bit yuk

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 23/10/2011 09:09

Not while your child is awake. I agree: Yuck.

electra · 23/10/2011 09:10

YANBU - fine imo.

Pinner35 · 23/10/2011 09:11

No, not whilst your DD is awake.

electra · 23/10/2011 09:11

Whether it's 'yuck' is subjective surely. It won't do any damage to the baby.

colken · 23/10/2011 09:11

Ifyou feel self conscious about it, you shouldn't.

Awake? Eeeeeewwww no. Why would you even want to? Personally I find the presence of children a bit of a passion killer

WhoahThereCrazyHorse · 23/10/2011 09:12

Bugger, general consensus is iabu then. I just sort of went with it, and asked the question because I did feel a bit yuck - now I feel really yuck!

PrinceRogersNelson · 23/10/2011 09:13

Not when they are awake no.

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 23/10/2011 09:14

I personally couldn't even if my child was asleep but it seems most people (on MN) don't see a problem with that. Definitely not while she's awake though, absolutely not.

pigletmania · 23/10/2011 09:16

I agree its a bit yuck tbh. Can't you put her in a playpen or leave her in her cot in her room.

MissPenteuth · 23/10/2011 09:17

I don't think I could. Why not wait for her naptime?

georgie22 · 23/10/2011 09:18

No - I wouldn't be comfortable with it. It's never even crossed my mind as a possibility whilst dd around.

Georgimama · 23/10/2011 09:18

Awake no - because it would be icky to me. The baby wouldn't care. Asleep absolutely.

electra · 23/10/2011 09:18

But it's only unpleasant if you think it is. She won't have known what you were doing, especiallly if you're far away from her and covered up.

SolidGoldVampireBat · 23/10/2011 09:18

Well it won't have done her any harm (at that age whatever grown-ups are doing, if it's not directly involving the baby, it's a bit irrelevant to them and not nearly as interesting as a squeaky toy, on the whole), but it does somehow feel a bit icky.

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 23/10/2011 09:20

Definitely not as interesting as a squeaky toy in this house :o

guanosoup · 23/10/2011 09:21

Its happened. No point feeling yuck about it, she hasn't the ability to make memories about it, so wont be on a therapists couch in twenty years time wailing sbout the time mummy and daddy boffed in front of her.
Just go out the room, leaving her safe next time passion strkes

TethHearseEnd · 23/10/2011 09:22

Right. If SGB finds it icky, that really is pretty conclusive Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 23/10/2011 09:23

Oh for god's sake. How do you think primitive cultures managed it? Sex is natural, not dirty, stop being so prudish. I think 9 months is quite young enough to be fairly oblivious. I might be more uncomfortable with one old enough to go telling other people, but I hardly think your dd is going to need therapy.

pigletmania · 23/10/2011 09:25

Makecakes they probably had sex when the baby was asleep, we have evolved since then. Its not everybodies cup of tea, I would not be comfortable, and would not enjoy tbh.

skrumle · 23/10/2011 09:27

IMO, YANBU. althought not convinced i'd get much out of 5min shag with an awake kid in the room...
