Here - a nice bit of misogynism from the police in Wales.

How about a big poster suggesting helpfully "Rape. Don't be a rapist. Use your dick sensibly. Rapists feature in 100% of rapes??"

porca,
You say fuck off, and fuck off again -that really proves your point.

porcamiseria · 20/10/2011 16:09

meh, it was rude of me I concede, I just reacted strongly to your comment

Look I DO NOT think the posters are a good idea, and I agree that it can land as "well we warned you"

However , I do think girls should be advised to really think before going out and getting blotto as they are so so vulnerable, thats all

MmeLindor. · 20/10/2011 16:16

Feelings were running high, it is an emotive subject.

Triumph19 · 20/10/2011 17:01

From a guys point of view it is not nice either since it suggets they take advantage of drunk women.

Actually I do not like it from a male or female perspective.

MmeLindor. · 20/10/2011 17:03

Good point, Triumph.

Triumph19 · 20/10/2011 17:17

I would not complain though.

I have seen many posters that are just as offensive to men on the subject, making them out to be rapists.

Whatmeworry · 20/10/2011 17:22

There has been a lot of complaint and SFA suggestion of alternatives though.

What would you all put up instead?

HeresTheScaryThingBooyhoo · 20/10/2011 17:47

triumph are you saying that people shouldn't complain when they find things offensive on the basis that other things are also offensive? Confused

limitedperiodonly · 20/10/2011 17:57

Maybe triumph19 cannot be arsed to complain in the face of obstinacy and wilful point-missing.

I've commented on this thread a couple of times but understand the sentiment.

JamieComeHome · 20/10/2011 17:58

AyeScream. Those are good. I really like the Herefordshire Police one

limitedperiodonly · 20/10/2011 18:01

Really good points, ayescream.

Your second one actually made me hurt.

It's just women having a good time. Do some people really hate us that much?

Yes, some people do.

HeresTheScaryThingBooyhoo · 20/10/2011 18:03

the hertfordshire one is the type of thing i would like to see, and unfortunately have never seen .

Uppity · 20/10/2011 18:04

Those posters are much better aren't they.

They put the onus where it belongs.

Given that it's taxpayer's money that is being spent on perpetrating rape myths, I'd rather it was spent on tackling rape myths. Much better use of resources.

Blueberties · 20/10/2011 18:07

Good God!

I've come very late to this.

That is fucking awful.

limitedperiodonly · 20/10/2011 18:16

Just emailed West Mercia Police. Let's give credit where it's due for their endorsement of that Herefordshire ad.

MarginallyNarkyPuffin · 20/10/2011 18:21

Herefordshire/ West Mercia Police one is good.

I think a poster focusing on what constitutes sexual assault might be more productive. Men tend to be very harsh about 'perverts' but don't actually look at their own behaviour as being anything other than 'a bit of fun' or 'joking around.'

Touching a woman without her consent is unacceptable. Touching her breasts or sticking your hand up her skirt without her consent is sexual assault. And it doesn't matter if you are drunk or she is drunk or you're in a club or she's wearing a skimpy dress. It makes you a criminal.

How can we hope to get rape figures down when it's still considered 'making a fuss' to complain about being groped - when we don't respect a woman's right to to not be touched in public with witnesses.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 20/10/2011 18:22

Those are great Uppity. Is the Not Ever campaign RC Scotland? Whoever runs it, it's really, really good. The quiz on their site is brilliant, if depressing - 3% conviction rate is appalling. As is the one that states that 64% of people think a woman is partly to blame if she is so drunk she is paralytic.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 20/10/2011 18:24

Sorry, I meant AyeScream Blush I don't confuse you two, honest :o

AyeScream · 20/10/2011 18:41

Flattery will get you everywhere, Cristinaaa.

Yes, Rape Crisis Scotland definitely get it. Sadly, a significant part of the rest of Scotland (i.e. the police, the judiciary and those who make up juries) seems steeped in rape myths as evidenced by their woeful conviction rates. Hopefully RC Scotland will

AyeScream · 20/10/2011 18:42

oops...

start seeing some effects of their campaigns working their way through the system in the near future.

AyeScream · 21/10/2011 18:20

Did we kill this thread with reasonableness? Grin
