I love this forum so much , I wrote an entire routine about it . Would you like to see / hear it ?

OP posts:

Bogey I can not bear to imagine the emotionally tsunami that would be unleashed if someone did a routine about Netmums.

My God the humanity

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 14/10/2011 13:00

She so missed out the passive aggressive: HTH, didn't she.

TheScaryJessie · 14/10/2011 13:01

I think she is actually one, I mean.

spiderpig8 · 14/10/2011 13:01

I though it was brilliant.
have to dig up the Rastamouse and nanny sleeping in the longe threads now, just to see who started them!!

LadyEvilEyes · 14/10/2011 13:01

I kind of think I've heard of her too Jessie.
Don't know where from, I must google her.

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 14/10/2011 13:03

ScaryJessie. Yep, I'm sure she's peeing herself, I'm sure one of the other videos featuring Mary was on This Morning, so she's not exactly looking for tips 'n' tricks. Haha.

MrPants · 14/10/2011 13:03

Loved it. YANBU.

UnDeadDolly · 14/10/2011 13:03

Love it! Still giggling now!

OldGreyWassailTest · 14/10/2011 13:07

Loved it, loved it! So funny.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 14/10/2011 13:08

Well, I thought it was funny.

MamaMary · 14/10/2011 13:09

I've never heard of her, but agree that her delivery and timing was very good.

I don't take myself seriously at all and there are plenty of aspects of MN that I hate- but lazy humour just annoys me. Like all the jokes about George W Bush. Yes, he was an eejit, but it ceases to be funny after a while and just becomes tedious.

Moominsarescary · 14/10/2011 13:12

The get stuffed stage four times this year

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 14/10/2011 13:12

Grin I laughed! I liked it all.

HeadlessForHocusPocus · 14/10/2011 13:13

Well I think it was good! (and quite accurate Grin)

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 14/10/2011 13:13

Loved the theats at the end too! Very good.

TheScaryJessie · 14/10/2011 13:16

It's not just recent nanny thread. Last year, an OP became very offended over whether calling an adult male employee "boy" could possibly be just a leetle demeaning.

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 14/10/2011 13:18

I actually did like the whole "Am I being.... unreasonable?" I thought the idea behind that was hillarious and much fun could be made there Grin

I just didn't think the scenarios she chose were particularly funny. I do think there is great potential, tbh. Come on - some of the AIBU are breathtaking in their unreasonableness Grin There's humour in that!

I do think she needs to ease off the 'smug mummy' venom though. The set would be much funnier without it.

LeBOOOf · 14/10/2011 13:18

Oh yes, the houseboy .

Bogeymanface · 14/10/2011 13:18

It was just too cliched for me. I wanted to laugh, I really did, but it wasnt that funny!

Oh and the dig at NM was supposed to ironic in that it was a cliche, but that didnt quite come off on here did it?!

izzywhizzysfritenite · 14/10/2011 13:19

No mention of Friday night bumsex?

It's a good routine but it could be a lot sharper and a lot funnier.

That said, perhaps you would like to collaborate on my forthcoming production "Mumsnet The Musical"?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/10/2011 13:21

I think a bit of wee just came out there Blush

Bloody loved it! All you 4x4 driving, organic milk drinking, tumble tots attending, nanny battering MNetters so had that coming Grin

As for the comedian/comedienne knicker twisting that went on earlier - well, I forsee that appearing in her routine shortly!

Bogeymanface · 14/10/2011 13:21

Perhaps the problem is that she cant use genuine posts, obviously, but she will have to write something wildly OTT (nanny sleeping in the garage and building an extension) because anything less silly than that has probably been posted by someone!

Its a difficult one really, MN is a good source of humour but any comedian/writer using it as inspiration has to be very careful about what they do with it. Too close to reality and you could run the risk of finding yourself in court!

wamster · 14/10/2011 13:22

joanjett,
Honestly! I clicked on this link expecting to hear a safe, child-friendly, acoustic version of your signature hit, I love rock 'n' roll (a tune which reminds me of my youth getting tipsy on mummy and daddy's Tanqueray and snogging Tarquin who run off with my then best friend, Clarissa,*, the bastard!), to show little Oliver that mummy was really once quite wild. I am most disappointed to find that it contains such bad language. Little Ollie will never recover!!

YABU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Hmm. Still she's welcome to him. On their salary, she can only dream of Boden and gites.

buzzskeleton · 14/10/2011 13:24

Grin That was funny.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/10/2011 13:25

Coraltoes - I was explaining what I thought was the basis to the objections to comedienne, not claiming it as my personal view. To answer your question (and I hope if I get this wrong, someone more knowlegeable will correct me) - the creation of feminine forms of male job titles in English has historically involved making the women's version of the job less well paid/lower status, hence the differentiation between comedienne and comedian being seen as objectionable.
