OP posts:
JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 19:09

Which one?

Series 1 is under-appreciated I think

Hullygully · 14/10/2011 19:10

I'll look that out, Bleached.

Blackadder v v good.

What theory of yours re comedy and feminists is this helping with, ry?

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 19:11

Joyce Grenfell. Her comedy was so tender

rycooler · 14/10/2011 19:15

I loved them all - but if I had to pick I'd say series 3.

series 4 made me cry at the end.

planetpotty · 14/10/2011 19:32

I love Father Ted, Vic and Bob, Stella Street, Phoenix Nights, Arthur Smith, Jo Brand, Peter Cook & Dudley Moore, Jack Dee, broad comedy and slapstick (think Pantomimes) ergo Jim Carey

but have never even turned up the corners of my mouth at Monthy Python and the whole Black Adder thing kind of passed me by.

Stateofplay · 14/10/2011 19:57

Not bad, it made me smile at the start. Mumsnet, as most great institutions are, is ripe for satire. You didn't nail it, but not a bad effort.

rycooler · 14/10/2011 20:07

Loved Father Ted - MP hit and miss for me ( plus a bit before my time )
I love anything with Alison Steadman in it - Abigail's party still makes me laugh.

TiggyD · 14/10/2011 20:14

Funny but not truthful.

You occasionally get the smug mommies suffering from from not being able to find the right kind of kumquat for their children Finnn and Elizabethina's 1st and a half birthday children's meal (not party), but they get told to "get a fucking life you cunting ninny!" There is lots to take the piss out of on Mumsnet without having to make stuff up.

Nikki82 · 14/10/2011 20:18

Very funny!

meltedchocolate · 14/10/2011 20:20

funny but that style of comedy is over done and I am getting bored of it now. (I watch FAR to many stand ups :o Blush)

Didn't find it funny, thought it was lazy and obvious and cliched.

But an not offended in the slightest.

Proudnreallyveryscary · 14/10/2011 20:28

am not offended

mummymccar · 14/10/2011 20:30

I think it was spot on for winding up a lot of MN'ers. Wink

Would be amazed if the general public didn't think it was a vaguely accurate portrait of Mumsnet though. You've done the site and all it's thousands of genuinely amazing and helpful contributors a bit of a disservice there.

I mean, we all know it's a stereotype, but nobody else would.

I've been here a while and have yet to hear anyone say that bankers deserve their bonuses, or that it is okay to treat employees badly.

Erm, karma... In the last few days I have seen posts asking whether some gas engineers should have been allowed to use the toilet (?!), whether it's acceptable for a nanny to sleep in the living room, and... whether it's ok that one woman's DH stole the Sky man's shoes!

TheCrackFox · 14/10/2011 20:45

All a bit meh, really.

deste · 14/10/2011 20:50

I liked it, I thought it was rather funny. It doesn't mean those who found it unfunny are wrong.

fedupofnamechanging · 14/10/2011 20:58

Have missed the one about the gas engineer Faffalina, but if iirc, the OP's on the other threads were shot down in flames pretty sharpish, thus indicating that the majority of 'us' don't think bratish, over entitled behaviour is okay.

BleedyGhoulzombiez · 14/10/2011 20:58

I actually think it's quite good! As long as you assume that it's all basically taking a boring old cliche which is unrepresentative of almost all MNers and then pushing it as far as possible to get a laugh. Which us what comedy is all about, innit? If you take that into consideration then it ain't half bad! I like the way she writes and her delivery is pretty polished.
