If I was Kirstie Allsopp I'd be mightily miffed at Menlove being described as a "young, fresh, vibrant" alternative.

The mask kind of slips in that photo where she is leaving the court though, a frilly apron might not have been appropriate but keeping the appearance similar is surely how to maintain your brand? For someone so eager to present a particular façade she appears rather harsh looking. I can't believe for a minute she wouldn't have thought of what her appearance would say.

Kirstie Allsopp has nothing to worry about. In fact all the negative publicity doesn't do Menlove much good. I imagine Allsopp is breathing a sigh of relief as her crown is still firmly on her head. Menlove probably just wants to be famous by the looks of her site. Now she's infamous. Please god, don't give her a tv show. It would be awful.

I notice on her website that she was raising money for Sport Relief by auctioning off that bloody Apron! After reading the DM she sounds such a fraud. I do hope she has given the money raised to the charity.

I read a blog somewhere that said they KNEW that she did none of the crafts on the site either, that it is her sister that does them but a decision was made that Cherry was the most likely to get a tv/book deal because of her look???

Dunno if its true but this woman was pretty sure about it...even saying "look at the hands in the step by step pics...they're not Cherry's"

I have probably definitely indulged in internet bitching about people before without thinking how it might feel to the person if they read my comments.

I appreciate that comment is free and people are entitled to their opinions. Also, as someone mentioned up thread, if you put yourself out there on the interwebby I guess you're going to come in for an amount of criticism... not everyone is going to like what you do. However, I am really at the level and extent of the bitchery on this thread.

I know CM's brother IRL. He's a really, really decent and nice bloke and although I don't know her, I know of her through him and if she's anything like her brother she can't be a bad person. I'm just imagining what it would be like to be her and to read all of this. Gentle mocking is one thing, but a lot of comments on this thread go way beyond that.

My parting shot... that DM article is incredibly one-sided... has it not occurred to any of you that the alleged badly treated ex-business partner just might be more likely to have the media contacts to get an article like this in the press?

For example, if facts of the case show that the arrangement they had between them was as business partners, then CM, as a matter of law, cannot be a "vile employer". I imagine that this has ended up in the EAT because the ex-business partner is in fact trying to claim that she was an employee. As always, the DM is very loose on the facts of the case so it's hard to speculate.

On another note, when did Anthea Turner suddenly become the Queen of Craft? I saw the self-proclaimed title on a magazine cover, which I then didn't buy but I wondered if Tracy Island from loo rolls meant you could claim the crown?

Incidently...as far as concerns the mocking of Cherry Menlove. I d have a morbid curiosity about this lady and if truth be told have both sniggered and cringed at some of the comments. Nobody has twins and develops lukemia just so that they can blog about it

I think what irritates most people, myself included is the dishonesty. To pretend that life is really the way she makes out it is makes people feel inadequate.....so then when you find out that there is help...a housekeeper...a stylist etc....it does make people angry, bitchy even.

Cherry Menlove has become a company and yet the site still claims to be a simple record of a woman's simple little life......it is dishonest. So yes...the bitchiness is high and tbh I read a MN Cherry Menlove thread a few months ago and it put me off joining until fairly recently....but in some ways it is inevitable....people, women, mums, do not like being duped.
FWIW Im sure she and her brother are very nice in person, but even very nice people can be fake sometimes

Look at her FB and there are more than enough people saying nice things. I can laugh if I want to. All of the 'homemakers' get negative comment, remember when Delia wrote 'How To Cheat'? Anthea, when her husband went bankrupt? Nigella gets the piss taken all the time. Even Kirstie, who pissed me off by going on about bloody BandQ when she web chatted. It's part of it, you can't appeal to everyone.
If you're building a 'brand' you've got an eye on monetization of your product, when you involve the personal details of your life in that brand you are laying yourself open to calls of exploitation.

If there was a contract of employment then the ex-business partner was probably an employee of the company. A point of law. Looking forward to the judgement.

How long do you have to wait for the judgement? Is it that the judge is literally still thinking about it? Or is there more to it?

I think it depends on the backlog, nothing to do with whether they are still thinking about it. I notice Ms Menlove is flogging an e-book on the Jubilee and celebrity Emma Freud has endorsed it. Depending on the outcome of the judgement I expect Ms Freud will be regretting her decision.

Journalists cannot write one sided articles while a judgement is reserved. They can only report on the facts, so doubtful that is was one-sided. Must have all been said in court for it to be reported on in that 'one-sided' way.

Emma Freud has written on the book that Cherry is a 'mash up between Hugh Fearnley-Whittenstall and Martha Stewart. Have just googled Martha S and she is a famous television presenter in America. She was in prison for embezzling money. Errrrr !!!!!! Wonder what the result of the judgement will be. It must be soon. Has anyone else heard anything????

It's too late for CM to settle out of court. It has already gone to court hence the judgement being reserved. CM must not have had brilliant legal advice. Other wise she would have settled surely ??

For CM to be involved in 2 legal disputes (that we know off) equals "LOON" to me.

I mean to say who on earth gets sued by two people at the same time?????
