to wonder why people say "full fat" coke?

Because it's not. Coke has no more fat in it than Diet Coke or Coke Zero. The difference is that Diet Coke is sugar-free but instead has all the other nasty sweeterners. So if you have to, call it "full sugar" coke or whatever but
FULL FAT coke does not exist. It's one of my pet peeves.....

OP posts:
BonnyBanks · 28/09/2011 12:10

Jaggy - I have very fond memories of Moray Cup ( although it was teeth crumblingly sweet) we used to get in the Mallaig area but I haven't seen it for years... So glad to hear it's still going and adding to the tooth decay of a new generation

LetThereBeRock · 28/09/2011 12:11

Not that I'm suggesting that there's anything wrong with being a Highlander.

LunaticIsOnTheGrass · 28/09/2011 12:12

I live in Glasgow, I'm not a native though.

Ginger is still used in these parts, as is juice. Anything but the proper fucking names for things.

BonnyBanks · 28/09/2011 12:15

LetThereBe - I reckon if you resolve to say ginger soda at all times fom now on that would cover it nicely!

BonnyBanks · 28/09/2011 12:16

We love you really Aitch :)

Chandon · 28/09/2011 12:19

OP, you have been found out not to get the joke!

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2011 12:26

i will admit to probably using more weegie lingo (aka the patter) if there are englishers aboot.

GetOrfMo1Land · 28/09/2011 12:29

I love weegie lingo, and the words.

My brother's glaswegian relatives are great, there are thousands of them it seems, they all look the same (like Joey's sisters in Friends Grin) and talk a thousand miles an hour and I can barely keep up.

FromGirders · 28/09/2011 12:30

Did someone call?

startail · 28/09/2011 12:33

Leaded or unleaded like petrol here.
Used by the crowd DH worked with in the States, I think they may have had leaded petrol longer than we did.

AgentProvocateur · 28/09/2011 12:45

This would be a good opportunity to look at Burnistoun 2-litre bottle of ginger throwing sketch again.

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2011 12:56

i LOVE that sketch. love burnistoun, totally.

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2011 12:58

'as luck would have it, i just doofed it off hees dome'.

Grockle · 28/09/2011 13:06

Squash, juice and full fat coke

Fizzy drinks in general are fizzy drinks, occasionally pop and if being silly with DS 'soda pop' (he's American)

aldiwhore · 28/09/2011 13:07

Grockle I love your name... reminds me of my youth and ranting about 'bloody grockles' invading MY village every summer!

GetOffOfMyCloud · 28/09/2011 13:11

GetOrfmo1Land I might have to name change actually, it's nearly caused some major confusion on more than one thread recently. Hope none of it's caused you any embarrassment!!

Sorry to hijack.

We often use bubbles as a general name for fizzy drink but I think that's a very localised thing.

daenerysstormborn · 28/09/2011 13:16

i call it full fat with extra lard. it's to reiterate the fact that i don't do diet and to reeeeeeeaallllly 'p you off op Wink

jenfraggle · 28/09/2011 13:17

I must be really boring as I just call it coke :(

FlumpsRule · 28/09/2011 13:28

Also use term full fat for coke. Always amazes me when barpeople say "diet?" if you ask for a coke; as if it's better for you, will somehow make you slim and won't strip the enamel off your teeth.

If I want coke it has to be stomach settling, enamel eroding, full sugar turning to fat coke Grin

Ps I think Irn Bru is coke with rust in it

GetOrfMo1Land · 28/09/2011 13:29

getoff ooh that is why i have had a couple of PMs asking if I am pregnant Grin

Don't worry about it - don't feel you have to namechange. Smile

LunaticIsOnTheGrass · 28/09/2011 13:33

I love Burnistoun Grin

specially the ice cream van..

SuchFunSuchFun · 28/09/2011 15:13

GetOrf

Ah, yes, well that would be my fault. I'm 36 weeks with my first so I have posted on a few pregnany related threads recently, mentioning my own impending arrival. Like I said, I hope it hasn't caused you any problems.

And it's too late now, I've changed. I was about ready for a new name anyway, I get bored too easily!! Grin

GetOrfMo1Land · 28/09/2011 15:18

It's quite funny though, suchfun, because I had a pregnancy scare back in January and had a great big long thread about it, so if I had been pregnant it would be due about now!

No wonder people who 'know' me were confused Smile

WhereYouLeftIt · 28/09/2011 15:24

MrsHuxtable, do make sure the Irn Bru is COLD when you do your taste test! Warm, it tastes like pink bubblegum .

tabulahrasa · 28/09/2011 15:30

Full fat coke, full fat fags - basically, I don't want that stuff that's pretending to be better for you, but yes as a joke...

Juice in Scotland means a non-alcoholic drink without milk in it. Diluting juice (squash), fizzy juice and fruit juice- you're thinking juice is only fruit juice, which apparently it is elsewhere in Britain

so orange juice is squash, fresh orange juice is yon made from concentrate stuff and only if it said freshly squeezed orange juice would I expect any actual oranges to be nearby, lol.
