Names like Gemma82 or yummymummy1.

There's so much choice. Obviously I'm a sucker for a bad pun. But I love the variety of names on here - great song lyrics, obscure references that I feel compelled to go off and google (and never google again in the case of dragon butter), bizarre word combinations and so on.

There are some notable exceptions but normally I make an assumption that if a poster can't think of an interesting name then they won't have anything interesting to say.

Mardy, I was referring to the pebble comment by good old hallnoats.

Birdsgottafly mAkes a mighty good point though.

MardyBra · 31/08/2011 09:41

Don't change OriginalPoster. I love the confusion and anarchy your name causes.

Ah, but what if you've been lurking for 56 years, but have only just found that one thread that you just have to stick your oar in?

Then you're faced with a speedy signup and no time to think of something clever.

How long does one have to be on MN to be classed as an 'old' Mumsnetter?

Not sure where my name would fall - possibly in the 'poncetastic I'm so literate' category, although I actually chose it as it one of Lucas North's (Spooks) tattoos Grin!

mummsieluvsherbabies12 · 31/08/2011 09:42

oops I seem to be ticking a few boxes... Blush

porcamiseria · 31/08/2011 09:42

OH! porcamiserium

YOU BITCH!!!!!!

that showed me huh Grin

QuintessentialShadow · 31/08/2011 09:43

Don't worry mumsie, I am sure you still have valid things to say and that you are worth listening to.

MardyBra · 31/08/2011 09:44

Actually you're right about birdsgottafly having a point.

But if I'm stereotyping so is a lot of MN with it's rejection of txtspk and lolling.

Have now got an earworm of "fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly...."

Exactly Chickens, often when people join MN they are pregnant or new mothers, so becoming or being a mum is obviously a large (probably the largest) part of their lives. When you've got older children you're less likely to define yourself as a mother and little else.

My first nn on here was my real name Blush for about a day, as I'd come from another forum (no, not that one) where that was acceptable. Then I changed to something semi-fluffy. Eventually I thought of this one (better? Matter of opinion I guess).

MrsRhettButler · 31/08/2011 09:45

I think we should all just be grateful that we're allowed nicknames....

It could be like that other place where you all have to be Anna5378943,99

Urgh! I've just thought, can you imagine what sort of nicknames you'd get over there if they were allowed!

I don't care about lolling or textspeak tbh,or crap spelling and grammar

MardyBra · 31/08/2011 09:46

Nevermind. - that'll learn'em for lurking too long.

Usual. I'd say you were in a minority on MN. Judging by previous threads. I'm quite happy to see crap spelling but can't get my old head round txtspk.

MigratingCoconuts · 31/08/2011 09:49

oh, very nice! It suits you...

ImeldaM · 31/08/2011 09:49

Its the names with loads of numbers in them, sorry mummsilovsherbabies12, I'm very suspicious of them.....

ArseyContarsie · 31/08/2011 09:51

why would you be suspicious of obvious NCs names like that?

MardyBra · 31/08/2011 09:52

Actually
We should all make marry naming general. All names should be approved by her. We should set up a naming congregation. You won't be able to post unless name has been approved for wittiness and style. It is in your own best interest, so that you are not judged and mistreated and flamed or ignored by other posters.

Incidentally, I need a new name. Suggest me one.

QuintessentialShadow · 31/08/2011 09:53

My iPad can't spell, btw. Mardy, not marry

usualsuspect · 31/08/2011 09:53

If I can read a post I don't care how its spelt

I've seen posters say they would ignore a post if it had incorrect grammar/spelling in it

now that is up your own arse

grovel · 31/08/2011 09:53

I'm just grateful if anyone reads my posts. I don't suppose they do.

MardyBra · 31/08/2011 09:54

Anyway I've had my arsey outburst and need to bugger off now to RL.

I expect a good flaming by the time I get back.

There should be a formula like the ones used to create your, er 'adult' name, or your trashy novelist name.
