It makes me cringe and also the word ''courting''

Any words that make you cringe?

I am fairly new to MN.
Today I have realised that, united in our hatred for the word 'panties', MN is indeed my natural home.
Thank you MN.

Also
gusset
poorly - I HATE poorly
draw instead of drawer
gusset again
Slacks
Sweater
Making love
Making a baby or any variation thereof
minx

notlettingthefearshow · 29/08/2011 18:06

Frock is hilarious! I love it.

It's the word 'moist' that makes me shudder. Or when my mum calls my period 'the curse'.

Columbia999 · 29/08/2011 18:13

Sourced, what's wrong with "bought from"?
Hubby
Uni, anyone who calls it that shouldn't be allowed to go there
Chillax
Girly-girl
Bubbly
Pant instead of pants
Heels - they are high heeled shoes ffs!
Pieces for items of furniture of clothing
On trend
Huni
Any stupid words from The Only Way is Essex
Ditsy

FellatioNelson · 29/08/2011 19:12

You are wrong. Frocks are fabulous.

woopsidaisy · 29/08/2011 19:15

My mum and dad always use the words frock and slacks.
I haven't read the whole thread, but could throw in "rig out",which is regularly used by my mum too!
Grin

fit2drop · 29/08/2011 19:51

at risk of being banned from MN forever

I actually love the word moist Blush

I like the sound of it and the shape your mouth has to go when its said.(how sad am I )

as I hate the word gusset the dilemma I would be in if ever I had to say "moist gusset" Confused

Tchootnika · 29/08/2011 19:53

Enough, fit!

SouthernFriedTofu · 29/08/2011 19:59

People who say "rock up" over used on mumsnet!!!

Mandy2003 · 29/08/2011 20:01

Or rockin' Angry

MilkandWine · 29/08/2011 21:02

"Spinster"- Surely the most hideous word in the English language?

"Sperm" and "Semen" are also horrid words, as are "Vagina" and "pubic" (why are so many sexual words vomit inducing?)

I also cannot abide the expression "We are pregnant", No sorry but the woman is pregnant, it is physically impossible for a male partner to be so.

FellatioNelson · 29/08/2011 21:08

I haven't heard 'trews' mentioned for a while. when I first joined MN there was always lots of talk of trews.

Tchootnika · 29/08/2011 21:14

And now, Fellatio?
There is no trews, we are too steeped in opinion...

mumsamilitant · 29/08/2011 21:34

Chuff! had a boyfriend once that said "show me your chuff" dumped the twit I politely told him it was over

mumsamilitant · 29/08/2011 21:38

Sick
Safe
char
wicked

I have a teeenager!

MilkandWine · 29/08/2011 21:39

Sniggers like a teenager at mention of the word "chuff"

PersonalJesus · 29/08/2011 21:40

Faffalina, my apologies for late reply,

fannypad = sanitary towel.

microserf · 29/08/2011 22:29

i HAVE to stop posting on this thread. i have too many words that i hate.

but i forgot:

"do" as in party. I WILL not go to anything described as a "do".

although i have realised that basically any expression my mother thought was very cool in the 70s, I hate it.

fit2drop · 29/08/2011 22:31

I dont like arm-pit either

nasty little word

Tchootnika · 29/08/2011 22:31

Hows about a 'function', then, serf?
A funky lil function...

microserf · 29/08/2011 22:41

Grin i don't think i attend functions either... parties, soirées, dinner parties, raves, nights on the lash, work drinks, christmas parties, hen nights, weddings, christenings, stag parties (long story) yes.

functions and dos ..... NO.

beanandspud · 29/08/2011 22:46

Don't like frock much but really, really hate 'poorly'.

Katisha · 29/08/2011 22:47

"Bits" as in "I have to go shopping for a few bits", especially when referring to clothes.

notlettingthefearshow · 29/08/2011 22:47

minge
pardon my French (that's not French, that's swearing)
whatever (rude!)
any catchphrase from the Apprentice (usually agrammatical)
unprecedented (on the news constantly, especially to do with weather)

Tchootnika · 29/08/2011 23:00

Hqw about that very New Labour-y habit of saying "there's" instead of "there are"?
As in "there's lots of us lot trying to woo you plebs by using crap grammar" (usually preceded by "let's be clear on this" and accompanied by that annoying air-punching right hand thing with thumb lodged between 1st and 2nd finger).
Do you know what I mean? Do you? Grrr...

traceybeaker · 30/08/2011 08:50

Keep them coming.

I also do not like the expression ''be mindful of''
