What haven't we talked about on mumsnet before? Is there anything new left to discuss?

And the million dollar man (crush from formative years)

A hammer's far too clumsy for such a delicate undertaking, Agent. To commence the time-consuming process of tinkering with the divine R, I'd use a slow comfortable screwdriver Grin

Alien/schmalien Honey, I'm fixated on getting robotic with Rutger now Wink

I'm really going to bed now. And if I spend all night dreaming of Borg Sisko being attacked by Zombies I'm blaming you lot.

G'night.

ChippingIn, he got bac at 6.30 this morning, soaked to the bone. His boots are literally dripping. All three woman (2 different parties) in two different locations were found safe and sound (but wet, hungry and cold). It was so foggy they lost their path, and ended up very far from where they were supposed to be. The weather turned quite suddenly. There were two different mountain rescue teams, the police and the civil guard involved. My dh was quite chuffed, he got to the lone woman first, an elderly lady, nearly 70.

But they used a botanic specialist to help narrow the search areas down, going by the womens description of foilage and plants around them. It gave the search parties a good idea of how high up the mountains they were. I am impressed. You dont really think that botanics should be woken up for a noctural emergency!

I cant believe I missed a Star Trek / Borg discussion. Best topic ever, and i was mopping the floor, packing and cleanin. Sad

Quint - I hadn't seen this thread today until now - but I had seen you on other threads so assumed he must have been ok Grin

Poor bugger - it sounds thoroughly miserable.

...but WOW - very rewarding. I bet the woman was so scared of not being found. I don't know why, but it definitely seems worse that she was 70 even though she's probably a lot fitter than many in their 40's!

Were the all very badly prepared for what they were doing or was it genuinely one of those freak things that no-one would have been better prepared for?

How fascinating to have used the botanic specialist! I'm very impressed too. I wonder if it was the first time s/he's been used to do something like this?

My eyes glazed over when it started turning to a Star Trek/Borg discussion!!

How's it all coming together??

Quint What an amazing story Smile

Smile From what dh says, the elderly lady was a lot fitter and better prepared than the other two young women. They were found relatively early though, at 1.30, but she was not found until around 4am. She had better clothing and more food. My dh heard her calling, and ran toward the sound. The visibility was really low in the fog, but he had headlights. He also had a special blanket, so when she saw him she threw herself around her neck, and he wrapped the blanket around her and just held her till the rest of his team had caught up with him. She was in good shape. Very happy to be found. And yes, he finds it very rewarding. I think it is a way of putting his stamina and strength, and interestin the mountains, along with his interest in continuously challenging himself, to good use. I wonder if we can find somethign similar for him in London..... Hmm I think it really adds to his "life satisfaction".
