I consider myself an active proponent of equality of opportunity and a stern critic of discrimination... and yet I find that I can't identify with many of the viewpoints I encounter on the MN feminism page (and often say so). AIBU?

I don't agree with most of the mumsnet feminist board, I think the problem is it looks like loads of people spouting what everyone should think when in fact it is only a few people saying the same thing over and over and over again and "shouting" down anyone who disagrees or calling them a mysognyist or a man or a woman hater Hmm

I stay well away. I am a feminist.

organicgardener · 15/08/2011 19:50

I've posted my last post on there.

Men shouldn't have rights sorta done it for me.

Maybe skipping before they started calling me a rape apologist was for the best.

:)

ThePosieParker · 15/08/2011 19:54

OG...I am interested about the rights that men lack, I would like to understand your position.

organicgardener · 15/08/2011 19:56

PP...

What I said was twisted.

I said quite clearly that I am interested in human rights ..all sexes and all ages.

And for that i'm a Woman hater?

BBQFrenzy · 15/08/2011 19:56

Porto I'm just waiting for that from Amazon so look forward to it

Hagocrat · 15/08/2011 19:57

Are you going to tell us what rights men do not enjoy OG? It's a simple enough question

K999 · 15/08/2011 19:57

I don't always disagree/agree but do tend to find them a bit shouty. Smile

sunshineandbooks · 15/08/2011 19:58

organic stop being disingenuous. No one said men shouldn't have rights. They simply pointed out that mens rights groups tend to spout misogyny rather than actually tackling areas where men could actually do with greater rights (such as paternity leave, flexible working and men's health). Instead they focus on denying DV and rape, claim women lie in order to prevent decent men from having access to their DC, and justify men not paying maintenance.

Decent men everywhere are being done a huge disservice by these sorts of male rights lot and they would do well to fight back against them.

I've yet to find a MRA that doesn't crap on about false rape or feminism going too far....I am therefore truly interested in what genuine male rights are truly lacking.

AnyFucker · 15/08/2011 20:03

Dittany was here the other day, folks

ThePosieParker · 15/08/2011 20:03

Was it SGB that exposed many F4J activists as wife beaters?

ThePosieParker · 15/08/2011 20:03

Was she AF? As Dittany?

yes you will disagree, there is no homogeneity of female opinion
there is no sister hood
and inevitability your class, education, experiences, and lifestyle will inform and determine your pov.

For all those who find the Feminist threads too shouty and Anti-men read it.

Yes - sometimes they are a bit shouty, and I get a bit cross with everything being blamed on the Patriarchy, but I am starting to understand why certain posters have those views, and why they get so frustrated when everyone refuses to listen.....

as sure as hell someone will rock up,and if no likey responses, resort to a bit of troll, or anti-feminist name calling

AnyFucker · 15/08/2011 20:08

Posie , Dittany was here under a different name. She didn't hide who she was though. However, I won't post it here because she may not want it totally broadcasting.

Porto , that is a really generous thing for you to say. And I am glad for you Smile

scottishmummy · 15/08/2011 20:10

women not a homogeneous group bound by implied shared pov
class,education,socio-economic status inform and shape opinions.only got tolook at mn see range of opinions and pov women have and express
