I owe you a colander because I used yours to clean the bark from the lizards tank. I mean WTF? I'm gobsmacked, he's doing some unbelievable stuff recently, he's normally so well behaved. :(

VelvetSnow · 08/08/2011 16:13

this is bad behaviour??

worraliberty · 08/08/2011 16:13

Well at least he told you

At that age I would have just popped it back in the cupboard and avoided veg and salad for a while.....

Mitmoo · 08/08/2011 16:13

Tell me about it, my WD40 was used up on cleaning his golf clubs and what a mess!

usualsuspect · 08/08/2011 16:13

Oh well, he used his initiative

TattyDevine · 08/08/2011 16:13

Can't you just sterilise it? Or wash it in hot soapy water?

HeadfirstForHalos · 08/08/2011 16:14

At least he told you, and didn't just clean it and put it back Shock

rushofbloodtothefeet · 08/08/2011 16:14

Can't it be washed?

TattyDevine · 08/08/2011 16:14

Roffle WORRAL

lubeybooby · 08/08/2011 16:14

YABU. It's a colander not an antique vase.

DizzyCow63 · 08/08/2011 16:14

YABU. He used it in cleaning out his pet, ie being responsible, he has said he owes you one, it's not like he was deliberately destructive. You are over-reacting.

At least he cleaned the lizard tank?

VelvetSnow · 08/08/2011 16:15

I'm gobsmacked that the OP is gobsmacked!

WilsonFrickett · 08/08/2011 16:15

Make him go and buy you another one then! At least he 'cleaned the bark from the lizard's tanks'.

HamstersDontSwim · 08/08/2011 16:15

Thats not bad! Shock

Why cant you/Ds wash the colinder? Is the bark in the lizards tank made of colinder-melting acid or somthing?

HeadfirstForHalos · 08/08/2011 16:16

Yes, as Dizzy said he was being responsible cleaning out his pet, yabu.

Catslikehats · 08/08/2011 16:16

YABU

Y would NBU if he'd told you as you all tucked into freshly colandered salad.

Ormirian · 08/08/2011 16:16

?

It's a colander.

He was taking care of his pet.

What am I missing?

knitpicker · 08/08/2011 16:16

I think he sounds very responsible. He did the cleaning and he told you abou the colander. My ds12 has to be begged to help clean out his fish tank - I should just let the little critters die as a lesson to him but I couldn't face that.

Sirzy · 08/08/2011 16:16

I agree with the majority! Probably should have asked beforehand but hardly the end of the world.

Callisto · 08/08/2011 16:17

You're very pissed off that your son used a colander to clean his lizards out and then told you? OMG is your son a stepford child or something? Poor boy, he was being responsible to keep his pets clean and responsible enough to tell you what he used. Perhaps you should get him a bucket especially for lizard cleaning so he doesn't have to improvise next time?

knitpicker · 08/08/2011 16:17

cross post with so many others

ShatnersBassoon · 08/08/2011 16:17

I'd be over the moon if my son was so honest, and bothered to clean his pet's home, and offered to replace the item he'd used...

YABVVU.

Geepers · 08/08/2011 16:18

If this is the worst you ever have to deal with then you are one lucky mum.

worraliberty · 08/08/2011 16:18

Perhaps he told you just to distract from the fact he used your toothbrush to clean the tank and your best M&S knickers to dry it off with?
