I owe you a colander because I used yours to clean the bark from the lizards tank. I mean WTF? I'm gobsmacked, he's doing some unbelievable stuff recently, he's normally so well behaved. :(

At least he says he owes you a colander LOL!

I have a 12 year old and I'm afraid brainless, thoughtless escapades are the norm.
Just take a deep breath and be grateful it wasn't worse (and that he's taking care of the lizard). :o

Whatmeworry · 08/08/2011 16:18

A 12 y/o boy:

  • Cleans own pet cage
  • Tells you he may have erred
  • Offer to buy ne Colander.

I must be doing something wrong, I'd be delighted if my DSs would do that!

loopylou6 · 08/08/2011 16:18

Shock at cleaning it and putting it back Grin.

It's his lizard Tatty, one of the conditions of him being allowed it was that he cleans it Wink

Teas gonna be difficult tonight now, gonna be difficult draining the spuds Hmm

Wonders if this is the right time to tell my mother that I used her colander to clean the stones from the bottom of the fish tank.....

ShatnersBassoon · 08/08/2011 16:20

You can use a pan lid to strain spuds, or a sieve. Give the boy a break, he was trying to be responsible.

diddl · 08/08/2011 16:20

What does he usually use & why didn´t he use it?

I´d be annoyed at not being asked first-but he´s told you-is it possible to send him off to buy a new one now?

CogitoErgoSometimes · 08/08/2011 16:20

When he uses the washing machine to make home-brew ... then get annoyed.

hiddenhome · 08/08/2011 16:22

I use my pots and pans to clean the stuff out of the fishtank. I just sterilise everything afterwards Grin

I've been doing this for about 30 years and still here to tell the tale.

loopylou6 · 08/08/2011 16:22

We have a bucket for cleaning the lizard stuff, this is why I can't imagine what possessed him to use my frikking colander.

OP posts:
worraliberty · 08/08/2011 16:22

This wouldn't be a little stealth boast would it? Blush

I mean really, you must have other things to be more annoyed about?

belgo · 08/08/2011 16:22

Either wash the colander or spoon out the potatoes from the water. it's hardly a big deal.

diddl · 08/08/2011 16:22

Very pissed off seems OTT though.

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/08/2011 16:23

You said he's done other unbelievable things lately.
What were they?

evenlessnarkypuffin · 08/08/2011 16:23

I'd rather he told me than find out when I was eating the potatoes and they tasted a little different.

loopylou6 · 08/08/2011 16:23

Grin cog.

OP posts:
PeachesandStrawberry · 08/08/2011 16:23

What?

YABU.

SarahStratton · 08/08/2011 16:23

You can make home-brew in the washing machine? Hmm

Can't you just wash the colander in hot water then whack some bleach on it?

TattyDevine · 08/08/2011 16:24

Use his tennis racket to drain the spuds...

Call it evens...

Grin
HamstersDontSwim · 08/08/2011 16:24

I dont get why the colander is ruined..

worraliberty · 08/08/2011 16:24

I don't think I've ever used a colander to strain spuds in my life.

I just use the saucepan lid

loopylou6 · 08/08/2011 16:24

Why the hell would I boast about that worral Confused

OP posts:
SarahStratton · 08/08/2011 16:24

See, I told you so. Today is shaping up to be Very Odd.

suzikettles · 08/08/2011 16:26

Why can't you wash the colander? Confused

I mean, bleach, hot soapy water, even boil the thing if you're that paranoid, but is there a reason that you feel you can't use it again??

Whatmeworry · 08/08/2011 16:26

You can make home-brew in the washing machine?

Its better than the wheelie-bin....

eurochick · 08/08/2011 16:26

Just bung it in the dishwasher (if you have one) or stick it in the sink with some boiling water and then wash.
