I went into toysrus yesterday and purchased an elonex etouch tablet pc. for DS1 and DS2 to use.

I set it up when I got home and found it to have a history which contained porn sites - therefore it was preowned.

I returned to the store and got a replacement.

I set it up and again have found not only a web page history of porn sites but downloads a well.

They are telling me they didn't know these had been returned as there is no record of them being which leads me to the conclusion that a staff member is using them.

So please if you buy this item please do check the history first!!!

I am doing an interview tomorrow with a local paper.

nickschick that's the oldest Jackanory story in the pub isn't it?

It's always the 'friend's daughter' or the 'nextdoor neighbour'

LES littlest dc is 3 i think? and her older one 12/13?

so its acceptable that they could potentially have taken the new device off upstairs or wherever and had a look at the history and seen this? i dont think the issue is the staff members and porn/paedophiles. its the fact a toy shop has potentially exposed minors to adult content.......

glassortwo · 27/07/2011 13:22

no shineon but op does not state what kind of porn!!!!

worraliberty · 27/07/2011 13:22

Not sure about what TLE?

WhollyGhost · 27/07/2011 13:22

Since you are not easily shocked, what kink of porn? Obviously, if it was illegal stuff, you should go to the police.

worraliberty · 27/07/2011 13:23

If she hasn't stated what kind of porn, why would you not assume it's run of the mill porn? Confused

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 27/07/2011 13:25

What a bizarre thread !

5Foot5 · 27/07/2011 13:25

Could they have been previously used as display models so any random shopper might have used them?

Haven't encountered anything like this except when we got DDs iPod it was the one they had had on display (only one of that model left in store) and someone took it away to reset it for us otherwise there would have been a pre-existing playlist.

glassortwo · 27/07/2011 13:25

why would you assume that its not,
still a concern.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 27/07/2011 13:26

Really struggling to work out what the local paper for the Old Kent Road area would be tbh.

nickschick · 27/07/2011 13:26

worraliberty its very true - ive seen it too - shes a top porn star now.

BertyBurlington · 27/07/2011 13:27

Sorry I had to pop out for a minute.

Right I didn't look at the actual porn sites just at the history where there were things like...

"Teens play hard and fast"
"Sexy black teen deepthroats older man"
"Creampie galore"

The display doesn't have them on only a picture of them and the empty boxes all of the tablets are stored in the back in the store room.

Dickie please don't!! I haven't done this for a moment of fame or anything like that. But there are some people out there who don't think to check the history and a child could be blamed when in fact they have done nothing wrong.

I just met the photographer Blush I thought they would take photos of the etouch not me!

TheLadyEvenstar · 27/07/2011 14:20

there are a lot more sites than those 3

It doesn't sound like ToysRUs have taken the issue very seriously. It is serious for products intended for children to be sold containing porn ffs. I would definitely want to hear from their head office what steps they plan to take to make sure it can't happen again.

WhollyGhost I liked your typo 'What kink of porn?' Grin

Thingumy · 27/07/2011 14:34

My first instant would be to call toysrus HQ if I didn't get a adequate response from the store in question and not the local press.

TheLadyEvenstar · 27/07/2011 14:38

Thingumy, I did call HO and the managing director.

Can't say I've ever set foot in a Toysrus store, doesn't sound like I've missed out on much (well, apart from the porn)...

razzlebathbone · 27/07/2011 15:24

It doesn't matter what kind of porn it was. Anyone who finds it funny to repeatedly look up and download porn onto children's toys obviously shouldn't be working there. I mean why would you do that?

I really wouldn't want my child to be exposed to it and I'm also not too keen on the thought that the staff member(s) probably knocked one out over it then cleaned it up.

Dirty bastards. ToysRus should be investigating it and letting you know the outcome.

Can't believe OP is getting any kind of stick for a) not finding it amusing, b) letting people know and c) advertising, through local media, the fact that ToysRus are putting used goods on shelves advertised as new, which may or may not have been wanked upon.

Bleurgh.

GypsyMoth · 27/07/2011 15:30

so are you getting some compensation from them do you think?

i'd suggest £50 vouchers Grin

TheLadyEvenstar · 27/07/2011 15:48

ILT, its not about compensation tbh.
