To think those who try to justify the Norwegian bomber are not even as bad as a racist just sick.

Turned on the radio today, and can't believe how people are trying to put this on the Muslims and justify the crazy bomber.

And even suggesting we should listen to what he has to say, I just wonder why these same people were calling for us to listen to Osama after 9/11

Because by the same logic he might have had a message (god help us)

And I wonder if any of these net mums just have the balls to say I am a racist and what, because I have more respect for that person than someone who uses immigration as a fig leaf for their racism.

Just before we start if any one uses the term English please be clear whom you are talking about

Any one who is born here

Or any one who is white

Also the term immigrant means someone who is in the country legally and can't claim any benefits and who has to work

Asylum seeker is different

Just want to be clear

I have some concerns about mass immigration. But there is no way that there is any justification for what happened in Norway. None at all. The only person responsible was the evil man who did this terrible deed. Debate and democracy are the ways to resolve arguments, not murder.

ThePosieParker · 25/07/2011 21:30

Nope I am fearful of a fast growing religion. I am very happy for all races to come and live here, but I am more worried about 'homegrown' Islamic converts to be fair....or rather less understanding. How can a person born with the freedoms that are afforded to them dismiss them and choose something far more structured and less free? I can understand huge voids being filled, like poverty or low education, by religion but not here.

My dcs go to a religious school, not by choice, and I cannot so far see harm. But then it's a Catholic school, not a more prescriptive religious school and it's protected (or rather my children are) by English law. Private religious schools do worry me, as does the idea that so often state Catholic schools do better than the rest. There was a school in the North that freely hit children pretty much without reason, it was a Saudi school I think.

Religion worries me daily, I often find myself in conversation with someone who denounces evolution as a theory or dinosaurs as God's little joke/test. Lately I have met more Christians than I care to mention who talk about 'speaking in tongues'!! and laying of hands. I kid you not. I genuinely, ignorantly, believe that most people thought religion was a load of nonsense.

But whilst the message of Christianity, mainstream, is one of kindness Islam does seem to demand more of it's follower. A dress code, strict rituals, reciting a whole book, hating others (except misguided Christians) and I know that there are elements of Christianity that are cuckoo but not so visible. It seems hard to imagine someone is moderate that covers her face and I know Muslims who pick and choose, cover one day, wear nothing remotely Islamic the next...but then I have to ask why? If the clothing is not to be closer to God what's it for? To be different? Stand against the West.

Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikh whatever religion it is if I suddenly saw a huge move toward it I would be fearful of the freedoms being diminished in this country, just look at pro life Christian in the States ir even being consulted instead of BPA on our abortion laws.

maypole1 · 25/07/2011 21:33

The Crown Princess of Norway's step-brother was one of the first victims gunned down in the massacre that left 86 dead at a youth summer camp.

Trond Berntsen, the son of Princess Mette-Marit's late stepfather, was among those killed when Anders Behring Breivik opened fire at the Labour party camp on Utoya island.

Paisely-how dare you be so insolent. Asking Mr Bloom if he has "English/white" friends.

How the bloody hell do you know that he isn't white and British himself? He announced his religion, not his race or nationality.

I wish people would get their bloody foundation facts right.

LadyOfTheManor · 25/07/2011 21:36

Posie stop with your "stand against the West" "them VS us" attitude. It's naive and it's silly.

Different Muslims from different countries dress in different ways. Different sects of Islam dress in different ways.

Nuns cover their heads, but I presume you think this is acceptable? Nuns live in convents out of society, yet you are not moaning about them secluding themselves.

paisleyII · 25/07/2011 21:41

lady - i do dare, i asked what i am sure a fair few were wondering

maypole1 · 25/07/2011 21:42

ThePosieParker -

Go to any marie stops clinic, in the states the nutters Are heavily involved in the school system they even teach creationism as a real subject Shock and as for not as visible have you been top Essex come election bnp all the way.

As for schools hitting children have you heard of the magdiline sisters in Ireland, and have you missed the scandal of abuse by catholic priest so I would think again before holding up christainty as the good and right religion.

Girls have to in 2011 fly over in secret to the uk to have i
Abortions and thats down to the church.

I never thought i'd say it but LOTM is right.

ThePosieParker · 25/07/2011 21:43

Erm, Lady Nuns are hardly ordinary followers are they. They live in convents.

Tell me why young Muslim girls in my city where hijabs to school and not at the weekend? Or why some women dress western one day and in a burka the next?

And if the rise in the wearing of the Nicab and Burka is nothing to do with the attitude toward the West why are more and more women wearing it in Iraq?

Tell me why any woman, aside from the misinterpreted religious reason, would wear something that put her immediately on the fringes of society?

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay · 25/07/2011 21:44

Yes Maypole, thanks for the "cut and paste" news item response there. Why did you need to highlight some above others? I am staggered that you even mentioned 'including a royal' in the post...

Honestly, I don't even think I understand where this post is going? All I know is you think that people have to be white or born here to be British.

Unless I misunderstood that part?

Like - a South African who is living here for work reasons (let's surmise, ooooh, I don't know, they're a WHITE South African, eh?....) - are they now British?

Your posts are just bizarre. Really. Read them back and see if any of it makes sense to you. I don't usually get this snippy about a post, but I am starting to think tonight's the night, baby...Hmm

PamBeesly · 25/07/2011 21:44

Posie sorry to jump on the badwagon here because you are of course entitled to your concerns, but for you to say that your children are protected under English law at a Catholic school makes my blood boil. I'm Irish and was educated by Catholics and I'll tell you I had no protection from Catolics under the law. They raped and tortured thousands of Irish children, and it wasn't that far in the past, I am 27.
Sorry OP for going off topic, I just get annoyed when I hear children/catholic school/safe

ThePosieParker · 25/07/2011 21:46

But I am talking about the UK and I have also stated that Christianity having anything to do with abortions is wrong. And I think you'll find I have also commented upon evolution. Perhaps because Christianity has been so laughably weak and mocked over the last few decades I don't consider it a real threat.

LadyOfTheManor · 25/07/2011 21:46

What on earth does it have to do with you what women wear? Complaining about them covering up is just as bad as complaining about them not being covered in the first place. Dictating to women what they can and cannot go out in public in is stupid.

My problem with your ridiculous statement is not about hijabs, it's about the fact you presume every Muslim is either an immigrant or non British, non Caucasian and non English speaking. Ludicrous.

Why are you not intimidated by the influx of Eastern Europeans?

LadyOfTheManor · 25/07/2011 21:47

Reeling, come and be pressed against my bosom. We can be friends Grin until the next time.

ThePosieParker · 25/07/2011 21:48

Pam....this is 2011 though. And a state education, not run by Nuns and Priests.

It's rather alarmist to say that a Catholic state school would not be safe really. And worry not, I leave nothing to chance.

MrBloomsNursery · 25/07/2011 21:48

Thank You Lady. Paisley, how about if I told you, I have English friends, Chinese friends, Thai friends, Japanese friends, Nepalese friends, Indian friends, Pakistani friends, Nigerian friends, Arab friends, and American friends? How about I told you I interact with ALL my friends and mix with them?

Your comment is absolutely ridiculous. I was BORN in the UK, and I have lived in one of the most multicultural academic hubs of the world ALL my life. It's very rare I come across ignorant people....But I don't think you're ignorant, you're just very patronising, and I can imagine you asking me that same question veeerrryyy slooowlllyyyy, bbeecaauuseee IIII miiiight nooottt speeeaakk eeeennggliiiissshhh...........Hmm

ThePosieParker · 25/07/2011 21:49

Lady....you are trying to pin stuff in my argument that simply isn't there., Perhaps reread my posts.

reelingintheyears · 25/07/2011 21:49

Posie...you do know that your DC can never be King or Queen of England whilst they are Catholics.

Should they marry into the royal family, their partner will have to forfeit his/her place in the lineage or your DC will have to convert to CoE.

I appreciate that this is an unlikey scenario but Catholics are banned from the monarchy.

maypole1 · 25/07/2011 21:50

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay someone asked actually.

And your assertion that I think you can only be British if white is laughable as i am black stupid

OP posts:
paisleyII · 25/07/2011 21:50

i live in a hugely muslim area and rarely see any mix, people that are not muslim get upset about it

ThePosieParker · 25/07/2011 21:51

I may tell you MrBloom that I too have a wealth of different nationalities that I mix with, my parents live in China, but in the city in which I live playgrounds are divided. And being an academic certainly puts you in unique position, common ground being academia and not religion, background etc.

PamBeesly · 25/07/2011 21:51

Posie I accept your viewpoint on Christianity and abortion but I can tell you the Catholic church is so arrogant that they are a law unto themselves and going by previous experience, a lot of 'abuser priests' were sent from Ireland to the UK rather than expose them, they are a risk. I'm sure your DC's are fine though, but don't narrow it down to just one religion, all religions pose some risk if they aren't checked.

floosiemcwoosie · 25/07/2011 21:52

Paisley.....why do you think that might be?

LadyOfTheManor · 25/07/2011 21:52

Posie, I wasn't born in the UK. Arabic is my first language, followed by Amazigh, followed by French. I was "born" a Muslim and I'm now a born again Christian (much to my father's disgust). I dress modestly all the time as I don't agree with flashing the flesh...and when I go back to the country I was born in I'll cover my head in certain parts as it is expected.

Do I count in your statistics?

ThePosieParker · 25/07/2011 21:52

I am an atheist and my children do not believe in God and my children are far too good to be royals (wink).
