Naggy and bossy at the same time. And so tribal.

Anyone who championed the idea that rapists should actually be brought to justice and that everyone else should stop making excuses for them, would be unpopular.

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 22:55

HerBeX - rape is one person's word against another's (in most cases). That is not being glib, it is just being truthful. Do you understand how hard it is to get a conviction for any crime in this country? And there is a reason for that. It is because we live in a democratic society where a man or woman is innocent until proven guilty.
Now, tell me, what is so hard to understand about that?

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 22:56

Can I ask you a question, HerBeX. Are you in favour of capital punishment?

pigletmania · 20/07/2011 22:58

YANBU she is god awful!

HerBeX · 20/07/2011 22:59

Is there a 6% conviction rate for burglary Maurice, with a 60-90% non-reporting rate because most victims figure there's no point putting themselves through the trauma of reporting, not being believed and having the police not taking them seriously?

I didn't realise that.

You happy with the idea that the overwhelming majority of rapists get off, Maurice?

You happy with the idea that your daughter, your mother, your sister, your wife, has a 1 in 4 chance of being sexually assaulted or raped and practically no chance of justice?

That sit well with you?

Not happy at all HeBex. I just think there are better ways of going about altering this issue than what HH did/has done.

So how would you go about it then Maurice?

What would you suggest should have been done about it, instead of what HH did?

Well also, seeing as how DV heavily affects children and you would expect half of all children to be male, DV isn't just a female issue is it.

And you're quite right SaF, seeing as how most perpetrators of DV, rape and sexual assault are men, they are all men's issues.

latitude · 20/07/2011 23:08

I don't see why people say dv or rape are womens issues. Do men not have mothers/daughters/sisters/female friends that they wouldn't want to see raped or abused?

we're moving away from the point here. HH is a knobber.

forkful · 20/07/2011 23:16

well mauricetinkler - you were the one who brought up rape - at least that was something to debate saying "HH is a knobber" does not.

lovecat · 20/07/2011 23:22

what a depressingly awful thread (and why? She's out of government, why post now about her?). And what a pisspoor level of 'argument' from the haters. SWC aside, non of the right-wingers on here have come across as anything other than misogynist eejits.

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 23:26

HH - a bell end.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 20/07/2011 23:27

To be fair the lot that have been posting here are not exactly the cream of the right wing crop. They are misogynist muppets.

LineRunner · 20/07/2011 23:29

HH is a significant figure in politics who has made an impact, rather than courted popularity.

latitude · 20/07/2011 23:34

I find this thread very strange, I'm no fan of HH, I think her and the Labour Party as a whole have made an enormous mess of the economy but instead of focussing on their obvious errors people have instead engaged in sexist discourse.

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 23:35

What's sexist about saying HH is a douchebag? No worse than saying Cameron is a cunt.

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 23:35

which he is btw

Lazydaisy55 · 21/07/2011 00:34

I heard her speak at a union conference in the late '80's. She was so disappointing, very weak views, and not well communicated. I dont think she has improved sinced
