I KNOW!! I've just reported a post of mine with wizard smiley fails in :( - I don't know why they've stopped working but I hope they fix it soon!

But WHYYYY?? the film's not out yet, not general release anyway, and they're still showing at the bottom so that's just wrong.

Unashamedly a potterer here. We have been to see every HP film asap after it came out so this will be no exception - sans kids who are too little anyway!

The third book was out by the time I got into them (1999) but I read the first three quickly then 4,5,6,7 I had on pre-order from Amazon and read them the first day they came out. 5 and 7 coincided with having DD1 and DD2 and I was reading them while breastfeeding tiny babies :)

I understand people not being into HP but a pox on those who sneer at the "kidults" who read the books. I love kids books, TV film, both contemporary and from a nostalgia perspective. If people want to think of me as thick or "dumbed down" because I read a kids book on a train, then that's up to them, personally I think people who make such snap judgements are rather stupid...

I am very excited, seeing it on Friday in 3D. I can't seem to find a cinema near here that is showing 2D. I am a little worried that I'll feel sick and that it will ruin the film for me. Fingers crossed.

I have started reading the books with my son and took him to see PoA at the cinema last night as they are showing he old films this week. He said it was the best thing he had ever seen. Bless him he is 6 and has been thoroughly enjoying the books.

I have come to Harry Potter a bit late and don't care that other people think I'm a bit mental.

I'm watching in 2D. Apart from kids animated films the only one i've seen in 3D is Avatar and I found it a bit distracting during the 'real people' scenes.
I might watch it a second time in 3D though.

I have now got a cloak. :)

I'm watching it in 3D on Friday and 2D on Saturday, so I can see which I like best!

No it wasn't a cinema release I downloaded...no fuzzy sounds or heads. Did have a watermark in the corner saying that it is a "criminal offence to distribute this".

Also had a line of Russian (?) pop up across the bottom about 3 times throughout.

NarcissaMalfoy · 11/07/2011 19:25

Even if I knew where to download if I still wouldnt. It has to be at the cinema, it's just not the same otherwise.

Punkatheart · 11/07/2011 19:29

Great. So probably a Russian mafia-owned DVD that finances dubious enterprises like drug dealing, money laundering and child pornography. Well worth seeing it first.

Report
YellowingWallpaper · 11/07/2011 19:54

Probably.

I presume you think the multi-billion dollar cinema complex you frequent are squeaky clean...all the way back to good ol' America?

Next you'll be telling me that the IRA are funded by car washing on weekends.

Report
Punkatheart · 11/07/2011 20:05

That doesn't make any sense. What has a cinema got to do with it? IRA and car washing - what logic is that?

Pirating is already treated as an exceptionally serious crime for the reasons I have stated. It makes huge amounts of money and that money is used for nefarious purposes. It is common knowledge.

Also be really careful openly admitting to being involved in pirating. You leave a trail via the Internet and if the police want to trace you, they will.

My OH works in the film industry so I know exactly what I am talking about.

Sorry but it is dirty business. Really dirty.

Report
YellowingWallpaper · 11/07/2011 20:33

Allow me to clarify;

Are you insisting that everything you practise is ethical? Are you insisting that the cinema you use, is 100% ethical with its profits?

Are you indeed aware of terrorist organisations being funded by what appear to be "normal" companies? (Macdonalds and the IRA for instance).

Report
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2011 21:03

You're making excuses just to try and justify yourself re: the pirate DVD. I'm really surprised that you're a) being so blatant about it and b) making out it's okay. The pirate DVD industry is the illegal tip of some v dirty business indeed. If you're okay with that, fine - but don't brag about it on here to those of us who are waiting to watch the film legally.

Report
YellowingWallpaper · 11/07/2011 21:08

I'm just pointing out that while I'm open about "putting money into the Mafia's pocket" (allegedly) a lot of you are doing the same.

I'm not looking for justification. I couldn't care less.

i wouldn't download an illegal copy, and you call your self a fan...true fans do not steal from them

Report
YellowingWallpaper · 11/07/2011 21:11

I don't recall calling myself a "true fan".

The books were ok. The films less so.

Report
VoldemortsNipple · 11/07/2011 22:03

We all might use vompanys which fund things we don't agree with, but the point is, its not illigal to buy a McDonald's whereas piracy is.

Anyway I watched the premeire red carpet show last night. Punkatheart I couldnt see your OH all the famous people were hogging the cameras. JK made me cry, Emma Watson let slip when the kiss happens, Rupert blows me away with his down to earth attitude and as for Daniel, he's so cute I could pick him up and put him in my pocket.
