to not understand why people think it's a good idea to flood the country with people of other races and cultures?

It is said that multiculturalism is a 'good' thing, why? You want your kids to mix with people of other cultures - take them on holiday.

Why is it a good to create areas with pockets of people from other countries who don't particularly want to be here, like us, our culture, food or weather, and are basically only here to bleed (for want of a better word) the country dry of as much money/services as they can get? That is the ugly truth. A lot of their money is not put back in the economy here, it goes out of the country to build houses/buy cars for their families back 'home'.

In my street (coucil housing), 7 out of 15 houses are occupied by foreign nationals. They do not mix with anyone else except their fellow countrymen (the 2 polish families have riotous barbecues every weekend). As I walk to the town centre, at least 1 of out every 3 groups of people are talking in a foreign tongue, they would not pass the time of day with you and I am far outside London.

Explain how this is benefitting our society as a whole. The old chestnut 'they are doing jobs we don't want to do' is wearing thin. If we needed doctors and nurses etc, why was this not planned in advance and quotas not figured out to make sure our young were trained for these jobs with incentives put in place? Is'nt that what the government is supposed to do? At least they would be putting their wages back into our economy.

Call me a racist - whatever. I know what I'm talking about with first hand experience.

Flame away.

I've lived and worked in France (we still have a place there); my OH lived in Finland for 2 years and we both now work mostly in Belgium - well it's where my desk is anyway! I would hate for there to be restrictions on EU residents working wherever they choose within the member states.

Embrace multi-culturalism, don't be scared of it. And whilst you're embracing it, think about how lucky you are to live in the UK, because that's all it is: luck. You could have been unlucky enough to be born in some war-torn land where you and your children live in fear and you're persecuted on a daily basis.

I'd rather people escaping such an existence were welcomed here, rather than finding bigotted, selfish, racist idiots awaiting them.

I'm white, dp is brazilian, just to add more nationalities into the mix. If we're going down the "send them back where they came from" route, I've no idea where that would be for me, much less my dc's.

OP would most definately not be welcome at the BBQ's we have in our communal garden then... We have 6 flats here and a mix of British, Polish, Italian and Egyptian.

SO much fun. And every weekend when the weather allows it. Grin

We have babies. Ds1 is white and blue eyed, ds2 is brown eyed and an easily tanned shade of white Grin. For all the fuss about "immigrants" getting british nationality easily, despite ds's being born in britain (and my not being born in britain being due to dad working for britain), we still had to jump through a lot of hoops to get british nationality for them.

Yes but I'm addressing the reasonable posters on here whilst ignoring the question, or hadn't you noticed before getting in your smart arsed comment? Because after 200 responses is the op listening to or acknowleging any other opinion empusa...? And this is only one of many similar posts, which incidentally I haven't commented on, so as there is a rash of them, the only way to stop them is to just cease to reply. Unless you're looking for a verbal scrap of course, which is the sole reason for thse types of posts.

Still, it doesn't really affect me, as I'm a foreigner.
