to not understand why people think it's a good idea to flood the country with people of other races and cultures?

It is said that multiculturalism is a 'good' thing, why? You want your kids to mix with people of other cultures - take them on holiday.

Why is it a good to create areas with pockets of people from other countries who don't particularly want to be here, like us, our culture, food or weather, and are basically only here to bleed (for want of a better word) the country dry of as much money/services as they can get? That is the ugly truth. A lot of their money is not put back in the economy here, it goes out of the country to build houses/buy cars for their families back 'home'.

In my street (coucil housing), 7 out of 15 houses are occupied by foreign nationals. They do not mix with anyone else except their fellow countrymen (the 2 polish families have riotous barbecues every weekend). As I walk to the town centre, at least 1 of out every 3 groups of people are talking in a foreign tongue, they would not pass the time of day with you and I am far outside London.

Explain how this is benefitting our society as a whole. The old chestnut 'they are doing jobs we don't want to do' is wearing thin. If we needed doctors and nurses etc, why was this not planned in advance and quotas not figured out to make sure our young were trained for these jobs with incentives put in place? Is'nt that what the government is supposed to do? At least they would be putting their wages back into our economy.

Call me a racist - whatever. I know what I'm talking about with first hand experience.

Flame away.

Ask yourself seriously why your neighbours might not want to give you the time of day.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 02/07/2011 07:28

For many many reasons OP, YABU and a bit of a cunt really.

lisianthus · 02/07/2011 07:40

Those Polish barbecues sound ace. I bet they have those lovely Polish sausages too.

If you were a bit nicer to your neighbours, you might get an invitation, then you wouldn't have to be so bitter.

Btw, how can you possibly know that foreigners "don't want to be here" when according to you, they won't give you the time of day? Do they wear placards?

Loving your work Dione.

Fwiw, the OP has gone to a bit of trouble in creating all the sock puppets. Points for effort.

JoleneJoleneJoleneJoleeene · 02/07/2011 07:42

Is the conservative social club shut tonight or something? Yabu.

InvaderZim · 02/07/2011 07:45

I'm an immigrant, but I'm white. And I speak English natively. Do I count? Or is it only brown people/foreign language speakers.

Go on, have a Biscuit.

hairfullofsnakes · 02/07/2011 07:53

It is very true that some kind of control needs to be taken on immigration ( and I say this as a daughter of an immigrant) and that people who come here should make an effort to immerse themselves in society ( my parents - immigrants - say this too) but your rant sounds very badly put and a bit thick

Cutelittlecatlover · 02/07/2011 08:08

Oh its you again

Biscuit
Salmotrutta · 02/07/2011 09:00

Presumably, as mentioned by another poster, the OP means that all "furriners" should be sent back and then all the ex-pat Brits from every corner of the world should also be made to come home so that they can do all the things that the OP accuses the foreigners of doing?
We would then be flooded by millions of ex-pats and their descendants. How does that work then? Am I missing something?

OP you sound rather scary - and we are all descended from immigrants one way or another.

RitaMorgan · 02/07/2011 09:12

I live in a very multi-cultural area, my ds is one of the few white children at his nursery (all the other children speak English as a first or second language as far as I can tell), my Polish neighbours are friendly and quiet, most of my neighbours have jobs, run local small businesses etc etc.

Kalinda · 02/07/2011 09:29

How on earth do you have a "riotous barbecue"? Do you invite police in riot gear and pummel them with burgers or something? Cook your sausages over a burning police van? Ram raid next door and nick their coleslaw? Please enlighten.

I'm not going to bother engaging in debate on your topic as you don't sound too bright and your post is just a bit boring really. But, if you can tell me where you live, I'd love to come to one of those bbqs.

hellospoon · 02/07/2011 09:33

Hahaha! Wow. Edl or bnp op? Either way get back to shining your bumper sticker.

GET A FUCKING GRIP YOU KNOB HEAD. Let's just hope your children don't end up with the same views as you else they will have a very hard life!

We need to have different cultures here and everywhere else for that matter, it is important for educating our children and teaching them that no matter what colour/race/religion you are everyone is the same.

I care a great deal for this country and that's why I think what you say is outrageous.
English people work abroad too you know, should they be called back here then?
A few months ago, there was a news item stating that actually more people are leaving the country than coming in. It could be worth checking it out.
And if some people sit on their arses. Blaming the immigrants for it won't change that.

Salmotrutta · 02/07/2011 09:45

OP - have a Biscuit

Riveninside · 02/07/2011 09:46

Dh is a foreigner. Born abroad. And hes now flooded over here bringing his own culture. Shriek.
MacDonadls, films from Hollywood, etc. He is American.
Oddly enough he gets paid same rate as everyone else despite being a filthy foreigner.

Riveninside · 02/07/2011 09:47

But its ok, my two english siblings are in the US stealing their jobs and complaining about their weather. Does that even it out?

bucaneve · 02/07/2011 09:47

I'm an immigrant (moved here when I was 5) and I feel lots of patriotism to this country. I've grown up here, gone to school and university here, met my lovely DP here, and worked here. Why wouldn't I feel patriotic to the place that's been my home for the last 18 years?

It is, on the whole a liberal, open minded and generally lovely place to live.

'Luckily' I'm white and have a home counties accent so no one notices my evil immigranty ways

Salmotrutta · 02/07/2011 09:48

So it's all your DH's fault then Riveninside - Grin

I blame him for Disney.................. Wink

I know. Im sorry. Bloody immigrants and their culture.

Salmotrutta · 02/07/2011 09:51

You really are a charmer OP aren't you? Hmm

Riveninside · 02/07/2011 09:51

Explain what you would do exactly then Hohumm. We have free movement for work within the EU. We are part of the global economy.

Riveninside · 02/07/2011 09:53

I think you are jealous you dont get invited to fun Bbqs and do you have skme sort of super power that can tell the difference between recent immigrant and british born but who uses a different language. I know i cant.

Salmotrutta · 02/07/2011 09:55

I doubt that anyone wants to mix with the OP...................

HoHumm · 02/07/2011 09:55

Riveninside - I asked a question first which has yet to be answered.

I am not going to worry about other countries immgration policies and whether they allow English people to work there. That is their own concern. I am talking about own country.
