I've had the day off today. Dropped Ds off at school, taken dog for a walk, emptied and re-loaded dishwasher, done two loads of washing (only one is hanging on the line so far), hoovered and mopped floors and nipped to the shops.

I They fanny about on here all day.

Thruaglassdarkly · 01/07/2011 21:58

What do we do all day? In my case defo NOT the gardener as he's short, in his 50s and everso slightly camp. But I would've done my builder Wink

JIRkids · 01/07/2011 21:59

When kids are both at school next year the plan is to:

Carry on working my 16-20 hours a week from home
Join a gym and go every morning before getting down to work
Do a course
Meal plan and have immaculate house
Be a lovely patient parent when picking kids up from school because I will no longer be stressed with trying to get everything done when they are at home.

Am sure some (most) of these plans will not work but that is the plan!

JIRkids · 01/07/2011 22:00

Realise that there are not enough hours in day to do all the things I want to do still.

baskingseals · 01/07/2011 22:04

I'll bring my gardener
you bring the milkman

bitsyandbetty · 01/07/2011 22:06

I would love to have the opportunity and am sure I could find something to fill my day. The house may actually be clean and tidy for once and I would have a chance just chill. Personally I have been a working mom all the way and would love to be at home all day with the kids at school. I could write the novel I always wanted to and have a dog. I could do the marathon rather than just hoping to because I never have enough time. Boy what a moaner I am today.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing, I don't even get up early. I've always worked long hours etc to bring up DS. Now I'm having time out, I thought I'dbe at the gym every day, have a tidy garden, curtains made, find iron. No. None of it. Meander round to friends for coffee, think about the gym, think about cooking, occasionally do housework. Bliss.

floosiemcwoosie · 01/07/2011 22:12

Maryz that is a difficult situation, but my god you do pack a lot in.

Slowly dawning that I might be a lazy cow

bitsyandbetty · 01/07/2011 22:16

The bad thing is you would have no excuse to have a messy house and I hate cleaning with a passion. If I do have the day off, I leave it till 2:30 and then rush round like a mad thing.

janey68 · 01/07/2011 22:39

Who said anything about going wrong indigo? I earn my own salary- you should try it! Grin

Omigawd · 01/07/2011 23:08

"they go on MN and wring their hands about how they never have ME time"

After shagging the Tennis coach of course :)

Al0uiseG · 01/07/2011 23:12

Drink coffee and read magazines.

I would love to be a SAHM again and know that I would be very busy.

I was a SAHM when dd was younger and I did get bored but I suspect that was because I was not in a good place myself.

During the summer holidays I become a SAHM for 6 weeks and I love it and when my dd is off out for the day. I fill my days with:

Cooking proper meals from scratch
Filling my store cupboards with chutneys, jams etc
Sewing
Gardening
Cleaning my house properly
Some volunteer work
studying
keeping on top of the laundry

just asked DH what he thinks parents who don't earn money in or out of the family home do

'you drink gin and beat children' was his reply Grin

and i thought i had it hidden so well Blush

Goodynuff · 02/07/2011 06:21

I keep the house ticking over, do all the admin, cook, become chief taxi driver/ social worker/ event planner for my DC and their friends, go berry picking and wild crafting, hike, hang out at the beach, canoe, sew, gardening, paint, read, MN, bake, work out, visit with friends...
Its a pretty sweet life Grin

WellIShouldNever · 02/07/2011 06:30

I would imagine it goes like this:
Back from school run for J Kyle
This morning
Loose women
Doctors
Cup of tea
Pick kids up from school

But not me, i have a 2 year old.

shelscrape · 02/07/2011 06:30

I clean, cook, do laundry, ironing, grocery shopping and generally organise our whole blooming lives. Oh and I'm studying for my bar exams in between all the domestic godess stuff

cjbartlett · 02/07/2011 06:30

Well I'm boggling to pretend I do housework all day Grin
I work 2 days a week
On the other days I watch DVDs, mumsnet, snooze, shop, meet friends
Between 9.30-2.30 I'm not rushing round the house with a duster
I'd rather do all that when kids are home from school and watching tv or in the garden

cjbartlett · 02/07/2011 06:31

Wellishouldnever - that was my day with a 2 yr old except when we went out

merryberry · 02/07/2011 06:45

I suspect if I didn't work I'd heave to and prop up the big society Hmm
Rather than some of each, all the time, to the detriment of ever getting on with our own lives. I'd do all our shelved house improvements.

Pagwatch · 02/07/2011 07:49

Christ alive - if part of my schedule was supposed to include loose women I would shoot myself.

I feel I should mention that I have more that one gardener. I also have three window cleaners.

Very busy.
