I've had the day off today. Dropped Ds off at school, taken dog for a walk, emptied and re-loaded dishwasher, done two loads of washing (only one is hanging on the line so far), hoovered and mopped floors and nipped to the shops.

My House is the same as fimbo's and believe me you DO get to the end and have to start over.
Never stays tidy for long i ususally end up doing kitchen 3 times a day....housework is never ending.

as well as that i do front and back gardens, all decorating (currently doing kids rooms), food shopping, essential clothes shopping, sort kids out for school, including all school concerts/appointments, after school activities etc cook all meals, washing ironing, ferrying family member around for one thing and another.
Have four cats so they need looking after...... i could go on the list is endless.
But the thing is my day doesn't stop at 6pm like DH, neither does it stop at weekends. i am on the go most days from 7am till 10pm. If i dont do it it wont get done.

I Get a few hours off on a saturday afternoon to go out with my mum, then when i come back have to start on the dinner then do the jobs that DH hasn't done whilst i've been out.

Forgot to add that I go to work on a Thursday for a rest and for someone to make me a cuppa Grin.

This again? I'm work part time and am at home with young dcs the rest of the time and I like to fantasise about what it would like to be a sahm with dcs at school. But even in my fantasy, I can't fit everything I would like to do into those hours.

I actually think it's quite sad that some people can't imagine how to occupy themselves without work.

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 01/07/2011 14:34

I've done absolutely dick all today

But then I have had a migraine which is only just subsiding enough for me to MN with sunglasses on Blush and it is my last free day before 10 weeks of summer hols begins.

On a normal child free day (I have 2 a week) I do a hell of a lot of sitting on my arse watching Neighbours, MNing and window shopping online. I'm a frikkin lucky cow to be able to do this and I'm making the most of it because come September, I'll be having an affair with a billionaire if I can lose enough weight to become alluring and sexy hunting down jobs.

BitOfFun · 01/07/2011 15:50

Shag three times a day, obviously (thanks Fab, I was wondering where my time went).

Well I don't work but am a carer so i go to meetings, appointments, sleep sometimes, sit about waiting for heinously late pick ups and drop offs, respond to calls from schools, have several times as many aprent-satyle evenings as other people (IEP meetings for all 4, with statement reviews for 2)....... and then sometimes DH and I eat a sandwich together (he works from home often), or have a chat without small boys screaming at us, or even have sex.

webwiz · 01/07/2011 16:05

Sit around all day wondering why some people haven't got enough imagination to work out what people do all day who don't work and whose children are at school.

newgirl · 01/07/2011 16:07

I breathe a huge sigh of relief that I've done my toddler time!

sweetness86 · 01/07/2011 16:10

I work part time and have my DS2 at home the rest of the week while the oldest it at school Im always busy God knows what with half the time but I never get any time to myself until there in bed!
I prefer being at work on my two 1/2 days in sometimes as I get a rest Grin

MrsKravitz · 01/07/2011 16:20

Today I was on here, tidied up a bit, surfed for clothes, went to the bank, went to lunch and then picked up ds. Grin

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 01/07/2011 16:21

I sit on my arse working on the groove on my side of the sofa. That's it, 7 days a week, 365 days a year Wink

Riveninside · 01/07/2011 16:23

Catch up on sleep as dd is up half the night

muminthecity · 01/07/2011 16:25

YABU. You must be seriously lacking imagination to not be able to think of ways to fill your days.

fallon8 · 01/07/2011 16:25

we do all the things you are daft enough to pay someone else to do,then we enjoy ourselves

Choufleur · 01/07/2011 16:27

Not sure what I'm daft enough to pay people to do.

TalkinPeace2 · 01/07/2011 17:40

yoga, swimming, internet, lunch, shop

janey68 · 01/07/2011 18:02

Go to the gym, spend their husbands money on shopping and lunching, turn up at the school gate for pick up by 2.30. Thats judging by the few I know....

Sassybeast · 01/07/2011 18:07

I'd be daft enough to pay a window cleaner to do whatever it is window cleaners do Wink

I don't think my house would be any tidier if I was at home all day. I've had a day off today and I've quite literaaly done fark all apart from plant a few patio pots and swirl some dishes around the sink.

upahill · 01/07/2011 18:10

I go mountain biking on the South Pennine Moors, Walking in the Lake District, meet mates for lunch, go snowboarding at the Chill Factor, go to Manchester and watch films, tidy up make kids tea etc etc.

MrsGypsy · 01/07/2011 18:14

Read the papers, let the cleaners in, pretend to do important stuff on the laptop, umm walk the dog, back on the laptop looking at clothes porn, ooh yes, go out to the supermarket, bit tired by then so might have a little nap, and generally wonder by how much my IQ has gone down since I stopped work.

Haven't thought about shagging the window cleaner yet though.

Hassled · 01/07/2011 18:20

I have used the time to become a Pillar of the Community. It works well. It's like I have a job except without the money or the career progression or the pension.

(I do work very PT from home but it has to be said not much).

caramelwaffle · 01/07/2011 18:20

Have served my time; now it is all about the me, me, me, me, meeeeee

swingingcat · 01/07/2011 18:22

I hoovered, washed breakfast dishes, got the bins in, chatted to the neighbour, surfed the net, eventually got washed and dressed and will pop in the oven the ready made lasagne for dinner.

Busy hectic day!
