I've had the day off today. Dropped Ds off at school, taken dog for a walk, emptied and re-loaded dishwasher, done two loads of washing (only one is hanging on the line so far), hoovered and mopped floors and nipped to the shops.

I bet they have a lovely time. Potter about at home in peace and tidy up, run errands, meet friends / family, study. Not panic if kids are ill as they are at home to look after them.

Not sure the point of the OP.

I can't be bothered to post what I have done all week as I am not into showing off.

Fimbo · 01/07/2011 14:00

I have a job supervising children at lunchtime in a school. It's only for 1hr 5mins and really cuts into my day. I am not going back in September.

I have a 5 bed, 4 toilet house and spend my days cleaning it a bit like the Forth Bridge really. I do meet friends though sometimes and mumsnet a lot tiny bit. Then there is the garden. Then the dc come home and mess everything up again and the whole rigmarole starts again intertwined with afterschool club activities and I don't drive so need to go out either on foot or bike about 1/2hr earlier than those with cars! Smile

AuntieMonica · 01/07/2011 14:03

there's a woman who lives near me, she regularly asks me what i'm going to do when DD starts school.

i tell her i'm going to eat cake. and have sex with the window cleaner.

i don't think she believes me.

i think she wants me to tell her i'm going to get a nice little job 'to tide me over' so she can hoik up her bosom and say 'that's nice, you doing something for you'

whatever i decide to do, i'll always stick to the cake and window cleaner story, just to wind her up Grin

Pagwatch · 01/07/2011 14:05

Baby? Confused
have we read the same thread?

molemesseskilledIpom · 01/07/2011 14:06

Trying to find a sodding job. Making apointments for DS to get his Meds changed. Trying to find a sodding job. Running back and forth to school for DD or DS or various forms and paperwork that needs to be filled out or collected. Trying to find a sodding job. Doing the garden, making sure the kids have everything, trying to budget, trying to find a sodding job. Clean, pick up toys, pick up lego, washing, trying to find a sodding job...I could go on but you can see the pattern now.

Sorry, I'm fed up.

AuntieMonica · 01/07/2011 14:06

not being a mum, nor staying at home....
I get one day off a week, a Sunday.
Except it's not a proper day off because I still have to go to church.
(but i get an extra 40 mins in bed!)
I don't do anything in the afternoon.
I used to love to garden, when I had proper days off.
I can imagine that I would get stuck into chores if I were at home more often.

Kendodd · 01/07/2011 14:20

All you stay at home mums do have a lovely big list of jobs to do, all of which I bet working mums have to fit in as well. I'm a SAHM although my children are not a school yet and I do run a small charity for about 25 hours a week but that's unpaid and largely at home. I think it's a real shame that there is so little respect and value of the stuff SAHM do. I would dearly love to stay at home after my children are all in school, I could then have a clean house, cook nice meals, be available when DCs are off school, I bet I could easily fill the days, also that neat division of labour means that DH wouldn't have to do his share of all those jobs meaning we would all as a couple and a family have more time to enjoy life. Unfortunately I'm sure that I will have to work partly down to needing the money and partly because I would be too embarrassed about being seen as lazy not to. And this is from somebody who does think SAHM are busy valuable people who have got the right idea about not thinking they have to do everything.

harassedandherbug · 01/07/2011 14:21

I have one "day off" a week, and I mean "off" as in away from the office Hmm.

I take dd to school, then go and clean my parents 3 storey house as mum was very ill last year and they need the help. Sometimes I'll have time to grab lunch with a friend, but not often! This week I went to town and bought dgd's birthday present, a wodge of birthday cards (we have lots of birthdays in the next few days), a couple of maternity vests and paid in some cheques for dh's business. Rushed up to school to get dd.....

That one day absolutely exhausts me!! On the odd occasion that I get an hour or two at home, I sit on the sofa and snooze lately (preg).

TheOriginalFAB · 01/07/2011 14:22

DRFrunt - not at all. I have done lots but it is just stuff that needs doing. If I said I shag DH 3 times every day, that would be showing off! Grin
