Having watched the programme, which I am glad I did, I can see that the article in question was clearly published to support of or to publicise the programme itself.

For those who are saying "It was a year ago, leave it," first of all Hmm, secondly, it probably takes the best part of a year to get a documentary like that made (getting the financing, research, asking people to take part, getting them together, filming and editing) so work on this has in all likelihood been more or less continuous since the incident itself. Thirdly, if someone had said that about one of my children and refused to apologise I would bear a vicious grudge till my dying day, never mind a fucking year. Harvey's not my child but I could cheerfully knock Frankie Boyle's glasses off in the street after a "only" year for that. [Not that I really would: very timid law-abiding person, unfortunately]

Here, here, RAZZLE
And if the class based insult "chav" offends so, I shall revoke it, since the woman has none.
SKANK, instead.

I condemn FB's comments- I like edgy comedy but he crossed a million boundaries. Not OK.

I support and admire any parent and/or carer of a disabled child

I condemn all prejudice and bigotry against disabled people.

However- I don't have to like KP and I still can't forget that she recently spent 18 days away from all 3 of her kids in order to have her jollies with her new BF. I couldn't be away from my children for 18 days. So I am a leetle cynical about this doc but if it does some good and addresses some attitudes then fair enough.

LoveBeingAbleToNamechange · 01/07/2011 08:34

Nesta, I believe that whilst she was away her children were on holiday with their father.

mauricetinkler · 01/07/2011 08:35

I wonder what odd's you'd get on FB and Jordan becoming an unlikely celebrity couple in a few years time. I'm sure she'd be happy to forgive and forget if there was a few quid in it.

mauricetinkler · 01/07/2011 08:36

*odds

CrapolaDeVille · 01/07/2011 08:38

I watched and enjoyed the show, I think she could have gone further to talk about others with disabilities and how many people don't have help, or very little.

NestaFiesta · 01/07/2011 08:52

LoveBeing- they weren't on holiday with him for 18 days, just for part of that. Most mothers would say no way am I not going to see my kids for nearly 3 weeks. Had she wanted to see them during that 18 day period, she could have found a way.

Anyway that's not the only reason i don't like her, there are loads, but to stay on topic, I still condemn FB and any bigotry towards disabled people and their families and carers. That doesn't mean I have to like KP.

Riveninside · 01/07/2011 09:04

Is it online to watch. I was ill last night so went to bed.

Riveninside · 01/07/2011 09:14

"Impossible to quantify are the tiny, incremental changes in attitude of people towards disability in their private lives. I suppose this is the change I think could be effected by people watching KP's show. And it's for this reason that I feel her motives, the timing and whether we like her or not are unimportant."

Exactly

How nice for you debi that you were proved right. It must give you a little glow inside every time you hear about Harvey's problems. Nothing so satisfying a being able to say I told you so...

Really shocked by this. I don't care who KP is, Harvey is totally innocent and the comment was the worst I have ever heard, even from FB.

silverfrog · 01/07/2011 09:32

the problem with vile views like debi's is - where do you draw the line with that?

I had hyperemesis when pg with dd1. I could not even keep down water, right up until 7 months pg. undoubtedly at times, she was a bit flooded with my stress hormones, like when i was repeatedly hospitalised due to dehydration, or just the simple worrying I did re: not being able ot eat. stress in pg has been linked to ASD, so clearly dd1's ASD is my fault.

when I could eat again, all I ate was: plain pasta with cheese grated on top, or, to push the boat out, I out some tuna into it too. ate my "allowance" of tuna regularly every week.

dd1 has a heavy mercury load, and is unable to cope with gluten and dairy products - they make her autism worse. so again, clearly my fault.

thanks for that debi, just what I needed - will never mention how difficult my life is again, since I so clearly brought it on myself Hmm

GwendolineMaryLacey · 01/07/2011 09:35

Yes, I actually should apologise, my post reads as if I agree that debi was right. That wasn't my intention but looking at it, that's how it sounds.

jeee · 01/07/2011 09:37

Someone said at the time of FB's jokes offensive comments about Harvey that Channel 4 wouldn't have let them go if he'd made them about David Cameron's son. Which I suspect is true.

silverfrog · 01/07/2011 09:37

I knew what you meant, Gwendoline Grin

MarioandLuigi · 01/07/2011 09:40

I have to agree with Silverfrog. After DS's dx I went through a pahse where I thought it was all my fault, and still soemtimes it creeps into my thoughts. I decided it was the heprin I took, DS horrid birth, the fact I always open the microwave while its still going Hmm

Well done debi - you are not devils advocate, you are being a heartless twat.

LoveBeingAbleToNamechange · 01/07/2011 09:44

Exactly, can you imagine if someone posted on mn saying someone had said that to her in the street.

We all all entitled to think whatever we like/dislike about KP. She has sold her version of her life for us to comment upon.

The question posed was AIBU 'To feel touched by Katie Price's article on Harvey?' In response I duly read article and was not.

I am touched by the struggles faced by Harvey and his daily battle to live with the challenges of his disability.
