The Non-Feminist Point of View

I have noticed over the last while that the Feminist section has grown over the last bit.

This does not surprise me, but I feel compelled to ask why this site has begun to ascribe to a sociopolitical ideology when it was originally a resource for parents.

I think that as a result of this discrepancy, non-feminist points of view should have their own section as well. I hope people who disagree with inequalities feminism has created within our legislation will be compelled to express themselves more often.

I don't see it as unreasonable. Since there will be disagreements on various topics, I just figure a non-feminist based section would be in order. This way parents have a choice that reflects both sides of the coin.

I've been biting my tongue here all evening, because I know I'll get roundly flamed and accused of being a misogynist-apologist etc.

But I'm still going to say it. I think this thread is a pathetic example of how sometimes on MN, swearing, playground cliqueness and insults are substituted for a reasoned debate on a contentious subject.

I read this thread earlier and was quite disgusted with the responses to a reasonably phrased question; I'm completely aware that the OP's opinions are not reasonable to me or most people on MN, but the fact is that he didn't post anything in his OP or any of his subsequent posts on this thread that could be construed as offensive (other than in ideology) or inflammatory (other than in ideology, as opposed to personal attacks or baiting).

I don't agree with him. At all. But the way I understood it, trollery involves someone infiltrating a forum to deliberately cause discord for the sake of it. This bloke is posting under his own name (or at least a traceable alias), posting fucking loony legitimate political and personal views. I love my mum very dearly, but she says that she isn't a feminist, and that she thinks any woman who needs feminism doesn't know 'how to handle men'. I stopped arguing with her on this in my early twenties, and we have a good relationship so long as I manage to never discuss politics at all ever ever.

My point being, that you might think the OP is an offensive twat, but unless he has been rude or offensive to you, why on earth do you think it's ok to indulge in the kind of viciously insulting nasty shit that has been flung on this thread?
