The Non-Feminist Point of View

JamesHuff · 29/06/2011 15:00

I have noticed over the last while that the Feminist section has grown over the last bit.

This does not surprise me, but I feel compelled to ask why this site has begun to ascribe to a sociopolitical ideology when it was originally a resource for parents.

I think that as a result of this discrepancy, non-feminist points of view should have their own section as well. I hope people who disagree with inequalities feminism has created within our legislation will be compelled to express themselves more often.

I don't see it as unreasonable. Since there will be disagreements on various topics, I just figure a non-feminist based section would be in order. This way parents have a choice that reflects both sides of the coin.

YANBU.

You are not the only one who has noticed that the feminist section has grown massively. Bit unnerving isn't it, all those women getting together and talking?

Tbh, I find it all frankly disturbing. Evil evil women, and hairy to boot! How dare they try and stop people being trafficked, or raped. Or campaign for maternity or pay rights.

Fucking outrage I say.

Birdsgottafly · 29/06/2011 15:19

OP- Mumsnet isn't enspousing political views, the posters are, on every political outlook. Feminism has its own section because it is popular and wanted by those who post on this site.

A lot of 'anti-feminist' stuff is discriminatory and like racism is not allowed. You can hide threads and ignore the sections so no one is in danger of 'being driven away'. I make it my business to never click on the housekeeping section.

There are frequent anti-feminist threads in AIBU, when the poster asks a question. Why do you not just do the same?

CogitoErgoSometimes · 29/06/2011 15:21

YABU... and your logic has left you as well. One feminist messageboard out of the many categories offered by MN does not mean MN is a feminist website, surely? There's a board dedicated to Chicken Keepers but that doesn't make it a farming website.

TrilllianAstra · 29/06/2011 15:21

YABU, because you have not asked an "Am I Being Unreasonable?" question.

YABU.

I suggest you click "report" next to your post to draw it to MNHQs attention!

So glad you've noticed the feminism section and that you've been "compelled" to complain about it!

As a newbie FeMNist I was told all about "backlashes" but it is really fun to see that it is true.

You can certainly have a go at posting your unfeminist thoughts on MN....

Looking forward to finding out all about the inequalities feminism has caused. Grin

How do I get elevated to witch status with Shirley and AnyFucker?

Ormirian · 29/06/2011 15:26

OK. Let's call it Wankers Corner.

Chen23 · 29/06/2011 15:27

I'm not quite sure of the OP's point

Surely the entire point of a feminism section would be to act as a forum to debate the pro's and con's of feminism. Are you not confident enough in your anti feminist views to post them there?

There's also a lesbian/ gay parent section, are you saying there should be a homophobe anti gay section in case those who find homosexuality unnaceptable are driven away?

ShirleyKnot · 29/06/2011 15:27

Trills - you have to be horrible about the menz who hate womenzzzz

TrilllianAstra · 29/06/2011 15:28

And to balance Chicken Keepers ther should be an area for those who think that chickens are stinky things and keeping them is disgusting because the eggs come out covered in poo.

TrilllianAstra · 29/06/2011 15:29

Oh, but whenever anyone writes "menz" it makes me want to go

@Chen23

Interesting point...but LBGT is commonly accepted as a state of being, not a political choice.

That is, unless you ascribe to BevJo's ideas that sexuality is a political choice...which I don't it is.

OP posts:
TrilllianAstra · 29/06/2011 15:32

Keeping chickens is definitely a choice. Not sure how political it is...

JamesHuff · 29/06/2011 15:32

...which I don't [think]sic it is.

TrilllianAstra · 29/06/2011 15:32

TandB · 29/06/2011 15:32

That's right, Hully. It has grown like a scab on his manhood.

TrilllianAstra · 29/06/2011 15:32

I don't think that's how sic works...

mdowdall · 29/06/2011 15:32

OP - may I suggest a separate thread along the lines of "Why are self-confessed feminists such irritating smart arses?"

TrilllianAstra · 29/06/2011 15:32

If the feminist section is anywhere near his manhood I am out.
