To think all GP support staff are rude and evil!

Grr. Just come back from my GPs. On Monday I telephoned to ask for a GP apointment before Friday, the receptionist gleefully told me there were none. She then insisted there was only one nurse's appointment all week free and that was in my working day. When I said that was not convenient she moaned and groaned and fond me another at 6pm today. When I go;t there the nurse told me the receptionist should have asked me to make a AP's appointment, then proceeded to give me advice which contravenes the NICE guidance on the subject. When I pointed this out she was very stroppy with me. Why are receptionsists so rude and unhelpful? and why do nurses, who want to assume a professonal role never have up to date clinical evidence to support the nonsense they spout at you! And lastly why did they tell me they had no appointments when one of the lovely GPs came out ofhis room and announced to the receptionist that he was pleased he could go home early as it was quiet!!!

mew, it wasn't "taken wrongly"

you said it wrongly

as has OP of this one

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 18:36

Well I apologised on my thread for wording it wrongly already. I didn't mean all HCP's and I think I have made that pretty clear now.

Fair enough, bitching to me about my thread on my thread but actually bringing it up on someone else's! That's nothing more than school yard bitching.

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 18:39

Also, I didn't copy and paste your comments from my thread, I copied and pasted them from this thread.

AnyFucker · 23/06/2011 18:39

mew, where do you get off insinuating the stuff you did on that thread ?

and you callme uncaring ?

seriously, people's careers have been ruined for less

shit or get off the pot, I say

you won't report the physio because she's "a nice lady really" but in your post you talk about her exposing your pubic area un-necessarily and without consent and grabbing your crotch

watch your language, that is all I am saying

look on the Health Care Professions (HCP.org) website, there are dozens of cases going through about just this kind of thing

I never said it doesn't happen, of course it does

but sensationalism is damaging

you were either badly-handled or you weren't

this insinuation that some professionaly-offended people do really gets my goat

AnyFucker · 23/06/2011 18:42

if you apologised for over-generalisation on your own thread, why did you wade into this one then ?

I accept I mentioned your thread, but in a "fuck, is this another one kind of way"

HCP-bashing is the new pastime, it seems

and it stinks

I am not a teacher either, but I hate to see that too, and will call it when I see it

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 18:44

Haha! What the hell did I insinuate!? I'm pretty sure I actually said when people mentioned assault that I was positive it wasn't like that!

And yes, I do call you un caring, because I came on here the other day pissed off and upset and you were ready for calling troll!

And in my thread about the physio I also state why I thought she done that, she is a very nice lady she obviously just isn't very good with handling people. She did, without consent grab my crotch, she was showing me what muscles to tighten, my issue was with the way she done it. I don't believe she meant to make me feel awkward, just perhaps hadn't thought that I might want to give consent first. Probably because her job involves handling people all day.

My real issue was with the guy, because there was really no need for what he did. Even my Consultant thought it sounded off and told me I should report him.

look, mew, I am not saying the individual treatment you had was appropriate

you are not listening to me

I would give up, but if I make one person see that they should be careful about the picture they paint when recounting experiences, then I will be happy

be very sure of what you are saying, is all that I am saying

you can't say the physio is a "nice lady" and then totally destroy her professionalism...she is unprofessional or she is not... nice doesn't come into it

have you any idea how seriously an experience of which you describe would be taken ?

and the guy ? Report him.

if you can't see it, maybe someone else will

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 18:57

But the point is, I did try and be careful about the picture I painted. When I explained my physio, I also explained how she was as a HCP, I have even said she has helped me a lot, just doesn't really have people skills in that area. I tried not to make her sound bad, I really didn't want to. She is a lovely lady and I would never complain about her.

As for the guy, I am in 2 minds whether to report him, even after being told to by my Consultant. It made me feel uncomfortable but at the same time I realise he could also just be crap with dealing with people and forgetful that he needs permission.

zukie...I have been perfectly reasonable

you or mew are free to report my posts

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 19:03

I don't think the way you para phrased the title of my thread was reasonable. Nor do I think you asking me if I had sold my story to Chat magazine was reasonable.

AnyFucker · 23/06/2011 19:04

Your sensationalism was unreasonable, hence my parody if it.

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 19:06

I explained everything as it happened. Even trying to show that I didn't think badly of my physio. How was it sensationalized?

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 19:07

So you think it's okay to parody someone else's upsetting experiences yet you do not think you were being unreasonable?

ok zukie

that is your perogative

Doha · 23/06/2011 19:20

Lady to answer your question a couple of pages back, nurses DO TRAIN trainee GP's in all parts of the country. Of course they go to university -you got that bit right but there is many aspects of General practice that is not taught in hospital/university... How many GP's go you know that do Travel medicine/spirometry/Respiratory medicine?
Trainees have 2 years out of university in the hospitals before they hit the surgery and see patients, they cannot be expected to cover everything in that short time.
In fact most GP's will admitif askedthat nurses are better trained in Chronic diease management than they are.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/06/2011 19:21

didnt realise you could report someone for disagreeing in a reasoned manner.

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 19:23

Fanjo I'm pretty sure if Zukie reported anything it would have been from earlier on in the argument where Anyfucker was basically calling me a liar and taking the piss out my experience.

Somehow I do not see how that is reasonable.

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 23/06/2011 21:23

"Nor do I think you asking me if I had sold my story to Chat magazine was reasonable."

Grin Funniest thing I've ever read on here.

Do any of the nurses on here get extremely fucked off that they appear to be teaching doctors everything they know yet are paid a fraction of their salary?

Why did you choose to be a nurse and not a doctor?

Oh and whoever was crying about what I said, you took it out of context;

"Unqualified cunts (and by unqualified I mean non-medic)"...

refers to receptionists/typists/phone answerers/appointment makers not to doctors/midwives/nurses or those with medical training (degree or above preferably).

reelingintheyears · 23/06/2011 21:32

Unqualified cunts of the cuntry manor...

Well who'd have thought it.

Onemorning · 23/06/2011 21:33

But they're still cunts though, are they? Lovely.

reelingintheyears · 23/06/2011 21:34

Luv 'em...

Cunts.
