To think teachers are taking the piss by striking?

They get decent pay.
Even after pension reforms, their pensions will still be way better than the private sector.
They get great holidays.
They have reasonably good job security (again, compared with private sector)
Let?s face it, you could teach a monkey to teach. And yet these lazy bleeders have the audacity to go on strike? Meanwhile, in the real world, people continue to lose their jobs...

I know this is reopening an old thread but has much changed?
I agree with the OP and also think we can throw train drivers in with the original question too. As the husband of a nurse who would love a pay rise in line with inflation I would love to know why teachers and train drivers believe that they deserve so much more of the money that is no longer there? After all the problems with COVID and the education of our future generation any teacher that puts themselves out there to strike instead of committing to getting the children back on track is selfish and not worthy of the position they were entrusted with.
You will get no love or support from me as all you are doing currently is making matters worse for others, the cost of living crisis is affecting everyone right. Plus have you seen your wages in comparison to nurses? Don’t talk to me about long hours and your future plans 30 or 40 years in the future because not so long ago a lot of nurses were thinking they may not have one. But they were still there working everyday instead of abandoning their patients!

you really are insightful. I’m actually a monkey and also a teacher. My fellow monkeys work in many different fields such as banking, customer facing, hospitality, admin and advertising. I feel lucky to have found a profeshun which seems to keep me on my toes, develops my organisation skills, allows me to nurture baby monkeys, gives me the opportunity to share knowledge which we have learnt through our many wise years on the planet and has allowed me to teach other monkeys to develop there skills to work in high end jobs which help to boost their egoes and gives them the skills necessery to slag off those monkeys who end up in lowly professions such as teaching.
don’t really know why I’m writing this but maybe it’s because I’m a monkey who’s got nothing better to do with their time. Ps. Apologies for any grammar/spelling errors and if this is coming across as nonsensical, I think it’s just part of the parcel of being a teaching monkey.
also am so tired as I had to get up at 5 to get to school. Ate a quick banana for breakfast and lunch (didn’t have time for anything else) and didn’t get home till 7. Yawn. I get tired as well coz if I meet any non- monkeys it tires me out trying to get my head around their tiny heads, funny views of the world and odd superiority complex’s. On the plus side- at least I will have my pension to take me in to retirement - they’ll all be scraping together their pennies and going on holiday to Blackpool (no offense intended) whilst I am sunning myself on the beach in the Maldives and paying for a private nanny for my grandkids so I don’t have to get off my lazy arse and help out.
also, sorry about my flaky nails. They keep getting paint stuck under them and I keep accidentally trimming them in the paper cutter. Keep meaning to have a manicure but don’t seem to have time in the day. Omg and my wardrobe! Yes, I know. But y’a know. When I’m so lowly and in such a dead end profession, it’s not worth it really. I’ll leave the glam to the other monkeys.
wow. This really doesn’t make sense .
have a good day fellow monkeys!

You do not really project your profession in a good light do you? You are really going to compare the amount of hours that you work with that of nurses, I mean REALLY? It must be so demanding and brain draining having to mind your P’s and Q’s around children for the 6 or 7 hours while around the children, whereas nurses have to mind everything in case you know, someone dies by one of their slip ups!
Honestly I would have expected a much more mature response from someone that is teaching our future generation on how to handle life to the best of their abilities instead of some dim witted passive aggression towards the town where I live. Honestly the only disagreement that I had with the OP was the fact that you could train a monkey to do a teacher’s job, but after your response I am now not so sure. Have a great day back helping the children catch up (again) on their education. In fact if you were not out all day picketing in defence of your belief that you deserve a raise more than anyone else in the public sector then your commitment to the job you are paid for should be put under scrutiny.

Hi
I’m very sorry to cause offence. I was being flippant and unthoughtful and absolutely acknowledge that there are many professions where people work extremely hard and have an extremely stressful time.
I have been to Blackpool and had a great time. Just not thinking in the middle of the night.
Don’t worry, am a very thoughtful teacher in real life and not damaging any kids.

💐

Who taught OP to type?

Why don’t you write to Gillian Keegan and suggest it-that would solve the recruitment crisis overnight. Would she even pay the monkeys at all?!

Who would teach the monkeys though…
