sound so over produced that they sound way more poppy than 'real' rock like black sabbath Grin

sort of girly rock

Same gig as you bullet!
You'll recognise me as the 8 months pregnant ginger at the back of the standing area...probably bitching about being too stubborn to buy seated tickets whilst looking longingly at the moshers up front Grin.

Never seen them live so really looking forward to it!

Ferret that is delish, I have teen boys so all this music, A7x, greenday, is played constantly in our house.

They too grew up on real music, lots of Aussie rock, ACDC anyone, Cold Chisel, The Angels, Rose Tattoo, as well as the better known, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Metallica. I took my 15 year to Metallica last year, I don't know who partied harder him or me lol

I don't mind 30 seconds, it's not rock that is for sure, but I don't go much on the classifications that are brandied around. There should be a classification called "Crud" which would encompass a lot of the stuff played on mainstream radio.
Current fave here is Escape the Fate.

Shoesy sorry for the late reply, I saw Slipknot at Download in 2004. They are fantastic live because their set is visually entertaining, their 'percussionists' are all over the stage and all of them have been known to get carried away and sometimes injure each other!

lazarusb · 12/06/2011 12:12

BoiledFrog I have seen several times. I was at Brixton - were you near the front because that's where all the action is Grin Us NiN fans are all getting old and definitely more MOR people seem to be appearing at their gigs.
And it hasn't been the same since Trent's been happy and beefed up. I like the weedy, leather Goth look Wink

Cymar · 12/06/2011 14:12

G'day ladies. Not sure about the weedy ones LazarusB, I prefer the older leathery-looking old-time rockers like Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ozzy and a certain Mr Vincent Furnier etc. As for the younger looking ones I'd go for Kirk Hammett, Rob Trujillo (both Metallica) and David Grohl. I must admit though, Bob Dylan's voice has got more gravelly and sexy as he's got older, but then so has Axl Rose as well.

GingerWrath · 12/06/2011 19:35

Ahh but Cymar can G N' R really be be G N' R with only Axl in it? I think not! Smile

BulletWithAName · 12/06/2011 19:43

Awomancalledhorse- You won't be disappointed, they're brilliant. Plus Black Stone Cherry are supporting, and I really like them too Grin

lazarusb · 12/06/2011 20:16

Ah but Cymar, it's only my goths I like weedy Grin Would quite happily spend some time with Mr Grohl or Mr Hamnett...although Rob is a little bit chunky for me.

GingerWrath · 12/06/2011 20:37

Axl was gorgeous 'back in the day'. Shame his ego got the better of him. (he championed the cause for us red heads)

I loved Taime Downe and Tom Keifer!

gerardway · 12/06/2011 22:40

30 Seconds to Mars are fantastic but My Chemical Romance are the best Grin. Good but not as good are Fall Out Boy ducks to avoid the rotten tomatos and Panic At The Disco. I have seen all these bands live (MCR 3 times) and they were all brilliant. I do agree though that these types of bands are different to the other bands I like such as Greenday, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith etc (again bands I have seen live). Avenged 7 Fold are a fab 'new' band.

alittlebitcountry · 14/06/2011 22:21

So did anyone else feel slightly less envious for Download when they saw the rain at the weekend? Today I have some serious nineties nostalgia - came across my copy of Sixteen Stone by Bush and been blasting it in the car
