Today I have read a comment that someone's potential home looks like "a council house on a sink estate," seen a debate about "chav fashion," vile comments about "Poor Kids" etc and seen numerous threads over the past few days where people fight to gang up together against the infesting lower orders with their bad grammar, poor articulation, txt spk and poor spelling.

WTF people?

It is snobbery. Nothing else.

Honeydragon.

What?

Explain yourself woman! From where? I'm hungryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

fluffybutt · 09/06/2011 17:08

I own a chippy, no deep fried mars bars though, sorry. We do lovely Jam Fritters, (deep fried jam sandwich with batter).

Sensi · 09/06/2011 17:29

Primal I think hun is bad because

  1. It has unfortunate connotations in that it is used to describe barbarians. 'Hon' would be a more accurate shortened version.
  2. It's often used as punctuation rather than as a term of endearment.
  3. It is often used in a passive-aggressive way.
  4. It is often found to be patronising.
  5. It's so ubiquitos that it really doesn't encourage a varied use of the language.

Primalscream · 09/06/2011 18:27

Sensi - thank you for explaining ( I'd send you a smile but my phone is broken )

FellatioNelson · 09/06/2011 19:02

I am completely and totally in agreement with everything Pag has said on this thread.

I disagree with you all except for Fluffy

Al0uiseG · 09/06/2011 19:56

I happen to be an out and out Tory Voter :o and I am outraged at the snobby digs about council houses, (lack of) articulate prose and txtspk recently.

However as I live in Essex my Chav radar is finely tuned and I can sniff out all the Nm lolhunz with glittery tickers from 16 pages away. They are, in my very humble opinion, causing most of the recent upsets.

FellatioNelson · 09/06/2011 20:06

I try really hard not to suck up to Pag, I really do. It's not cool to be so needy. But sometimes (like on this thread) it's just impossible to contain my Paglove. I do try to limit my sychophancy to one a week though.

FellatioNelson · 09/06/2011 20:07

once a week.

fluffybutt · 09/06/2011 21:48

I think we are the only chippy in the world to do Jam Fritters. They are soooo nice. Think hot, crispy jam donut, drizzled with syrup. And they are very good for you, as they contain fruit :o

Pagwatch · 09/06/2011 21:50

Ooh paglove..

Don't sulk hully.
I pay them all. Sometimes with brioches. Or pasties if they are common and are not well brought enough to know about posh carbs.

Except fell. She just loves me. It's a girl crush thing. I am like the aged aunt big sister she never had.

Hullygully · 09/06/2011 22:05

My mum and her partner were telling me the other day about how they sometimes have a quick dinner if they have both been at work. We have found these delicious pies, says mother, something beginning with G, we just pop them in the microwave to warm up and have them with a salad. Yum.

Hullygully · 09/06/2011 22:06

Whoops, forgot I was sulking then

You are quite loveable but it's still sickening

The packaging was confusing. I thought, for decades that they were Cuntster.

Sometimes I wake up in a cold sweat wondering who I could possibly have discussed Cuntsters with...
