Ok silly because I know its not quite a aibu

But thinking today about jobs that I am fascinated with , like personal shopper, and wondered what people on here do and if there is a big range of interesting careers. Ive read previously there are actors and writers on here, what other things? and is anyone a personal shopper?Do people actually use them?

Worked for 10 years in a zoo, teaching children who came on school visits, along with a variety of other educational actvities aimed at school children and the visitors. Loved it. Do a similar job now but for a slightly different sort of conservation organisation.

I'm part of a fairly large teams who negotiates international trade agreements. I find it interesting, but I'm ever so jealous of those of you who work in medicine.

I was a music journalist, but went into secondary school teaching and now work with young offenders. I love my work. I prefer working with 14 yr old scallies to knobhead musos. They are much nicer people, generally Grin

I'm a missionary. We (DH and I) mainly run community and youth projects in the very poor village that we live in. We work with the local church here but our focus is very much on raising living standards and creating employment and opportunities rather than bashing people over the head with bibles Grin

GetOrf · 07/06/2011 21:38

What a brilliant bunch of jobs!

I am an aeronautical engineer by professon, spent my working life working on military and civil planes, and now work in a commercial capacity in particlae physics research, working on procuring bits to build great particle acceletators!

I love it - they will have to carry me out of here in a box I love it so much. I feel privileged to work with such clever and interesting people (doctors and professors most of them, and a nobel prize winner).

I am very lucky.

NorksAreMessy · 07/06/2011 21:42

I have two jobs
The paying one which is Elf n safety.....grrrrrrrr
And the real one, where I run after school jewellery clubs and teach jewellery making to people with acquired brain injury. Pays nothing much, rewards hugely.

JockTamsonsBairns · 07/06/2011 21:43

Wow! What an amazing selection of careers!

GetOrf · 07/06/2011 21:43

Oh how lovely, norks. What a brilliant thing to do.

Bohica · 07/06/2011 21:45

I worked as a Emergency Medical Dispatcher for 8 years. Posh term for 999 call taker with the ambulance service.

I was also involved in tasking the helicopter which was very dull when grounded but very full on & enjoyable when sent out.

I then did 3 years as a sahm to our 3 little girls which was a rest from the above to start with & I've enjoyed nearly every minute of it.

I'm now 1 week into a new job as dealership PA, I don;t have a clue what I am doing nor a clue how I got here but right now it's better than watching Dora & mixing primary colours for painting Smile

NorksAreMessy · 07/06/2011 21:52

GetOrf I can't believe you have such a brilliant job yourself.
I'll teach you mine if you teach me yours.

Wouldn't this be a BRILLIANT careers conference for our DDs?
Get us all together and show them what we do!

Rainydaze · 07/06/2011 21:57

PumpkinBones · 07/06/2011 21:59
