to not buy products for my "intimate area"

I was in Superdrug about a month ago and they were doing a 3 for 2 offer on toiletries for womens' "intimate area" eg soap, wipes, talc, deodorant. I couldn't believe how many women were throwing them into their basket. After this, I've made a habit of checking the bathrooms whenever I go to someone's house and these products do seem to be in the majority of them.
I'm now starting to get a bit paranoid because I don't use them. I do have a shower and change my undies every day. I'm so skint at the moment, AIBU not to fork out for fanjo toiletries?

I don't use them, just showers etc and I use ordinary toiletries. I actually thought those products were bad for you?? I think I remember my midwife telling me that, but I could be wrong.

I don't buy them, my fanjo gets a good soaping with regular soap, clean knickers and that's that.

It's a mercenary marketing tactic to get us all thinking we are unclean unless we spend extra and buy this stuff. No need. Ordinary toiletries will do the job just fine.

I only use the femfresh talc and that's for my boobs.
I only use dove soap for my fanjo, I tried femfresh wash and it stung me

its talc free talc(well thats wot it says)that is the only talc u can use "down there" apart from the talc i havent tried any other products

I don't buy them. It's a trick to make us feel inadequate about our nethers (as well as skin, breasts, hair, weight...) and buy their bloody products.

I honestly think they're unnecessary - most women I know shower / wash regularly. I've never known an occasion where I've sat next to someone and wondered if she'd washed her fanjo recently...

the italians have bidets and wash their bits a few times a day, they think we are mingers, the soap is not cos they think its smelly, but more that toilet roll does not wash off poo and wee seperately.

Not necessary at all. I find it quite sad women are being encouraged to believe their genitals are so dirty they need to be chemically cleaned and deodourised.

Maybe its the women buying up all the fanjo products who are dirty? Y'know, I don't shower but if I spray this and dab that, nobody will know any better?

I buy a ph neutral fanjo wash (not that pink one tho) as it's the only thing that doesn't give me thrush

I have never understood the deodorant thing though

its bad for your vagina, its self cleaning any product even soap effects its natural ph and can cause thursh and vaginosis and all manner of badness and smells. a good clean with water in enough ladies or comrades or what ever. you natural vagina smell is how it is suppose to smell.

Why would anyone put talc on their muff ?

I use the Femfresh wash in the shower, and the flushable wipe things, when I'm on my period, as it just makes me feel a bit less icky.

Would never use talc though, not anywhere - the idea of all the little particles going places (fanjo, lungs etc...) is not an appealing prospect!

That's not because the femfresh is keeping away thrush, it's probably because you are washing yourself too much with the ordinary soap when you've run out of it. It is massively important not to overwash that area of the body - it NEEDS bacteria to keep the fungus that causes thrush at bay.

I think over- washing of the fanjo is actually bad for all the natural oils and stuff that keep the ph balance right. I have heard many instances of women actually developing thrush etc because of the overuse of chemicals on their nethers

YANBU to not need additional fanny wipes. Who on earth could think it unreasonable to have a clean, unwhiffy undercarriage?

I do think some women benefit from these sorts of products, and they shouldn't be judged as gullible or ridiculous. It's no different to using anti-perspirants and deodorants on underarms.

I've never bought any 'special' fanny cleaning stuff.

Shampoo and shower gel are all i use.

I've haven't bought deoderant since i was a teenager either.

No one has ever said i stink,including DP who knows that area better than most.
