I, along with most women I imagine are grateful that women fought to give us a vote.....

However I believe that things have gone to far..I hate women who moan and bitch about how they can't have everything!!!!!!!!

No your damn right you can not have everything ...if you go to work full time when your children are young, YOU WILL MISS OUT!!!!!

Why should women have it all???

I believe that most feminists think that they are more worthy of having everything then men and guess what you are wrong...men dont have it all...most men still work full time and still miss out on their children..

Men used to provide for their families...Men used to have a little pride...I don't think that that those women all those years ago wanted things to go this far...where some women see men as useless and think they can do everthing with out them..including having children...fair enough if you split up and you end up a single mum thats one thing but choosing to have a baby alone is just plain selfish....women should not be allowed to use a sperm doner if they are single..

So you feminists who think you are better then men and that you can have everything..YOU ARE WRONG...I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

I worked for 12 years trading in the City and now a happy and pregnant housewife who wants to stay at home. You can have it all, you just need to be damn lucky and maybe clever about how you plan it out...

DirtyMartini · 04/06/2011 20:00

It's funny how the feminism trolls seem to avoid the feminism board these days and post here. I wonder why?

TyNobdieJigz · 04/06/2011 20:00

I am in a dilemma at the moment which is why I kind of agree with OP, I have to choose between being a SAHM and forever living in Private Accomadation or go to colege, then uni, full time for 4 years, become a nurse then buy a house, quite clearly I dont have a choice!

K999 · 04/06/2011 20:01

Yes, but miss out on what exactly? I work full time but have never felt like I have missed out. I still have evenings, weekends and holidays to spend time with my DDs Confused

TyNobdieJigz · 04/06/2011 20:01

Bloody typos Hmm

opalinski · 04/06/2011 20:03

Pmsl @ giving women a bad name

ooh dont go hanging around with those "women", the've got a bad name

DuelingFanjo · 04/06/2011 20:04

thanks for clearing that up for me OP.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/06/2011 20:06

Wasn't it Emily Davison who did more for the suffrage movement than the Pankhurst mother and daughter team? I always got the impression that they were more puppeteers than activists.

I'm watching the Dad's Army programme at the moment and I'd happily go back in time to then.

OP... You can agree with some points of commonsense in improving the lot of people en masse - and you probably already do - without signing up for a 'feminist badge'. :)

madonnawhore · 04/06/2011 20:06

Lol @ 'sperm doner'. Hold the chilli sauce with that one, please.

OP, do you know what a feminist is?

chibi · 04/06/2011 20:09

Is this dad's army, the hard-hitting documentary expose of wartime life, or dad's army, crappy comedy of yesteryear

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/06/2011 20:09

Actually, I'd argue that the brave men and women who fought to keep Britain free did far more for humanity than any suffragette.

I'd be giving Guy Fawkes an accolade too if he'd succeeded. Good try though.

Bumperlicioso · 04/06/2011 20:10

If I don't work while my children are young they will MISS OUT on somewhere to live!!!

I think you completely misunderstand what feminism is. If only it was just about going out to work.

GetOrf · 04/06/2011 20:10

You CAN have it all.

by working full time you generally avoid spending time with braindead women like the OP. And earn money to pay your way through life.

Win-win.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/06/2011 20:10

Both chibi, the comedy first then the documentary. I'm enjoying it anyway. How can you call that 'crappy' when ITV is showing the er... scintillating BGT? Confused

cunexttuesonline · 04/06/2011 20:11

feminists do not want to/think they are better than men, just equal.

clemetteattlee · 04/06/2011 20:13

The suffragists did more than the suffragettes in the specifics of achieving votes for women. Emmeline Pankhurst had three daughters- Christabel is the most famous and was an excellent spin doctor and strategist but was pretty bonkers. Sylvia is my all time hero - compassionate, socialist, libertarian, wonderful

chibi · 04/06/2011 20:13

A pox on all their televisual houses. Tv is mighty shitey of late and i have gone clean off it.

clemetteattlee · 04/06/2011 20:14

Emily Davison was always considered an embarrassment to the movement, but she did give them a lovely moment of martyrdom...

omnishambles · 04/06/2011 20:15

OP have a Biscuit

And you have given me 'You give love a bad name' as an earworm, which is frankly tedious...

LemoryMane · 04/06/2011 20:18

I believe that any MN-er who uses the phrase 'in actual act' is giving other Mumsnetters a bad name. So there.

Lots of love from A Feminist

Primalscream · 04/06/2011 20:18

Getorf; - why are you calling the op 'braindead' - she has an opinion on feminism that's all. I'm not sure, but maybe she'd run a mile from you?

LemoryMane · 04/06/2011 20:18

in actual fact

cannydoit · 04/06/2011 20:23

i stand corrected.

BooyHoo · 04/06/2011 20:24

carmina do you just lurk on MN for opportunities to be contrary?

and no the OP didn't offer an opinion on feminism. she offered an opinion on feminists. so feminists are entitled to respond to that.

Tambern · 04/06/2011 20:26

Well Primalscream I'd call her brain dead as well. If I thought she was for real.

Not just for her laughably outdated opinions, but because her standard of English is so poor. Also I have this mental image of her trying to feel sorry for those poor feminists with a job, a life, and maybe not having a DH.
