Why is everyone so mean on mumsnet?

New poster - been lurking for a few weeks. What I've noticed is that everyone is so mean. Parents/women/people come here for advice and they are torn to pieces or spelling critisied.

I feel that you all can be a little bit nicer to each other. People sometimes post to get a different opinion, but we can be nice about how we say things!

Anyway, thanks for listening - i bet someone will say something mean!

Haven;t read the thread.I have been a mn for nigh on 6 years.Not well known,not one of the memorable ones.Yes mn can be cutting.but also it can be brilliant.I am coming up to anniversary of oh death and posted this time last year.I was amazed and touched at the support.If you look at the support for those that have been bereaved or are truly having a shite time you will see mn is a very supportive place.Yes it can be cutting and sarky but better that than the sickening passive aggresive hunny ticker shite.Sometimes if I post i need prople to tell me i am being an arse or whatever.I love mumsnet!

Firstly Goose I don't 'hate' anyone on here. This is the internet...a little hole in the vast world of cyberspace where people who I don't know in real life..and will probably never know in real life happen to post words on a screen. To hate them would make me totally unhinged.

Secondly, I dislike how people abuse the name change function so they can post shit in one nickname and the total opposite in another...which for all anyone her knows you yourself could do..the same as I or any other poster.

Thirdly, I'm quite sure if a decent enough poster were to ask Africa who she was, she might tell them.

So that kind of counts you out doesn't it?
