To feel sorry for Cheryl Cole?

queenceleste · 30/05/2011 16:42

I know, I know, show business is brutal, I should get a life.

I just feel for her, it must be so horrible despite the truck loads of cash.

I can't believe anyone ever thought she'd translate to over there, she seems so untransportable.

MrsFruitcake · 31/05/2011 16:56

If we all went round smacking people in the face (because she did punch the loo attendant), we'd be in a hell of a state. The loo attendant did cry racism, but there was no denying Cheryl smacked her one.

And I'm not jealous of her either, she is most welcome to her shabby little tabloid-fodder life.

TootTootLick · 31/05/2011 17:15

MrsFruitcake I suspect serious amounts of provocation. Also "not jealous"?, you? Not likely!

MrsFruitcake · 31/05/2011 17:17

I have a perfect life of my own Toot! Money wouldn't make it any better.

forehead · 31/05/2011 17:22

Cheryl Cole's problem is that she started to believe her own hype, and that's why i knew she was going to have problems.
I personally don't think Simon Cowell stitched her up, i think he actually liked her and also believed that she could make it in America. However, in America, you have to have some kind of TALENT ,in order to succeed. Girls like Cheryl Cole are ten a penny in Hollywood.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 31/05/2011 17:25

Haha at 'talent' being essential in America
Justin Bieber?
Miley Cyrus?

forehead · 31/05/2011 17:49

Ok MoreCrack..... Talent and good PR

TootTootLick · 01/06/2011 08:15

MrsFruitcake You keep telling yourself you're not jealous and maybe you'll start to believe it.

forehead You knew did you? What are you psychic? You knew fuck-all love!

noddyholder · 01/06/2011 09:44

toot toot you sound unhinged. Why the aggressive support for someone who has no bearing or relation to your life. It is people like you defending these over paid idiots that makes them believe their own hype. An over inflated sense of her own importance and now she has been brought down a peg or two. I can't see why anyone would be jealous of her scrub teh gloss off and she is rough! This country has become so convinced that money and a bit of fakery in the looks dept = success and happiness when nothing could be further from the truth. It is all about money she was not good enough they couldn't understand a word she was saying and so to protect teh x factor brand they got rid of her.

TootTootLick · 01/06/2011 10:02

No . . . I think the one's who are unhinged are the one's going on about bringing down someone they don't know "a peg or two"! That screams of nothing but bitterness and jealousy, it's so incredibly sad!

I find it very disturbing the amount of time and effort people on the internet put into slagging off (and bringing down a peg or 2) someone in the media. She's just a woman doing a job.

noddy you are the one who is unhinged for spending your time saying that some woman on telly who you don't know is

  • an over paid idiot, (you know details of her intelligence and abilities do you?!)
  • has an overinflated sense of her own importance, (how do you know how important she feels?)
  • she's been brought down a peg or 2 (how do you know what peg she's on? Been reading the Sun again have we?),
  • scrub the gloss off and she is rough, (so that's what women should be judged on? Better looking are you?)
  • she was not good enough

I can say with all certainty that you know zero facts about anything relating to this persons job and life. You sad, sad little human being.

GetOrf · 01/06/2011 10:13

toot you sound completely mad, what the hell is the matter with you?

Stop being so bloody aggressive and rude fgs. Calling noddy of all people a sad, sad little is amusingly ironic.

I think the whole thing stinks tbh. I have no liking at all for CC (I think she is a smug and talentless individual who has believed her own hype, and plus she is disgusting to have clouted that toilet attendent, no matter what provocation she may have endured) but I think the whole thing was set up.

TBH the whole thing I think was a set up. I think CC may even be in on it. I think the whole thing was staged - from the ghaslty clothes and style, the lack of chemistry with the other judges, everything, in order to gain huge publicity for the show and HUGE sympathy for CC into the bargain.

TootTootLick · 01/06/2011 10:26

GetOrf No what is completely mad is an entire thread of people slagging off someone they have never met. Do you have nothing better to do?!

Calling noddy of all people a sad, sad little is amusingly ironic

Why is she a mate of yours? I'm obviously not part of the "in-crowd". Read what she actually says and then think about if someone saying things like that about someone they are not privy to any real info on and so have no place to judge is not sad!

Reading the rest of your post though it's obvious that you are of the same thinking as noddy and so are as sad as she is.

GetOrf · 01/06/2011 10:32

toot of course I have nothing better to do, that is why I am on mumsnet talking about trivia.

You sound like the founder member of the Cheryl Cole Fanclub 'ah knew her when she had her own teeth laike'

If you think I a sad cow for slagging off someone I don't know on the internet, you are coming off equally sad defending her, you gurt loon.

No in crowd here, pal. We are not schoolchildren though I think you might be.

TotemPole · 01/06/2011 10:37

Has she really been sacked because of her accent and the Americans couldn't understand her?

GetOrf · 01/06/2011 10:40

I wonder if it is true that she didn't really have malaria, but an eating disorder and/or diet pills.

If that is true it is bad that she was told to lose weight, however I think she is not thin enough for american TV, as sad as that is.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 01/06/2011 11:25

I think TootTootLick is right, though the delivery of her opinion might be a little aggressive Grin

Grown women who want others 'taking down a peg or two' need to get a life.
Why does Cheryl's success bother you so much?
And hahaha at her looking rough without make up and therefore being less deserving of success. So you don't admire her because she is, in your well qualified opinion, not attractive? Hmm

Why the aggressive opposition to someone who has no bearing or relation to your life?

queenceleste · 01/06/2011 14:10

From the goss, I suspect she was sacked because she didn't work on air, wasn't assertive enough, didn't fit in with the rest of the panel, had a weird accent, had put on a few ounces clearly. Was right out of her comfort zone and appeared under confident.
In the USA that's a disaster.

I'm sure the weight thing is a very big factor, I've worked in the states and you can put on a stone in a few days there, the food is everywhere and delicious and massive helpings.

Also she appeared to have lost her stylist and changed her management at a crucial moment after five years of success with previous management. Madness in retrospect poor love.

I think that's showbusiness, live by the sword, die by the sword, but she prob has enough to retire doesn't she? Surely?

OP posts:
queenceleste · 01/06/2011 14:14

I mean a 'weird' accent to the american ear, not ours, not disrespect to the NE accent, I love it.

aldiwhore · 01/06/2011 14:29

Its showbiz, and Cowell is guilty of everything that's been levelled at him, but so is every other media mogul. The idea that someone like Cowell would 'take someone under his wing' is laughable, he sees ££$$$ signs, and at the first hint of it not working out he'll drop them. That is nothing new or unusual, its just headlines because of the high profile of the shows involved.

You can guaruntee that the whole subject of CC's accent is a red herring, and actually a way of lessening to public humiliation to CC, if they said the truth it would be far worse.

Do I feel for Cheryl? As a person yes, it must suck to feel so publically ridiculed and humiliated, and as a person, yup she's had a shitty year and it was a great oppportunity for her. As a person, yup, her conviction for thwacking the loo attendant is SO not a good look, but I wasn't there and don't know what went on, but I hope no one would judge me for bad behaviour that happened a long time ago (lost my temper when drunk and slapped a woman round the face because she snogged my fella innit - self cringe)

Do I feel sorry for her as a commodity? Nope. Its a bloody tough industry and actually, isn't always about talent, sometimes that's way down on the list of priorities.

It didn't work out. Shit happens. She'll bounce back because she likes the fame, and shallow or not, good for her.

animula · 01/06/2011 14:34

Like AgentZigZag, I am crying into my keyboard as I type this?

Thank God for this thread - I'm finding it such a support, to help me think through my feelings of despair. I have put on about a stone over the last week, attempting to fill the gaping hole inside with sweet carbohydrates.

If it weren't for this, and the masses of words spilled in various publications on this enormously pressing issue, my children might well have had to grow up without me: my feelings of sorrow, about this absolute tragedy, are, at times, nigh on overwhelming.

TootTootLick · 01/06/2011 15:08

MoreCrackThanHarlem - why thank you very much Wink

queenceleste · 01/06/2011 15:19

of course you're right but I don't want to think about my problems they're far too scary, bread and circuses....

noddyholder · 01/06/2011 16:35

I think if you read carefully you will see I said she has been taken down a peg or 2 not that I wanted her taken down. A subtle difference. It means little to me but if you listened to phone in on radio a few days ago someone speaking on her behalf said that is how she felt that she had been publicly brought down a peg. I think this is what has happened she could do no wrong before and now the tide has turned. This is very common when your particular brand of showbiz is so fickle. I don't understand all the jealous labels I have my own business and am not short of money in any way I am getting on a bit though!

tallulahxhunny · 01/06/2011 16:39
