to think that DD is promiscuous and unreasonable?

DD, been going out with boyfriend for six weeks. She only turned 17 nine days ago. DD met her boyfriend at a guiding / scouting convention and they hit it off. Unfortunately, he lives 81 miles away in Nottingham. Anyway, just had a blazing row with DH and DD as DD announces that boyfriend is coming to visit next weekend and when I asked her where she thought he would sleep, she looked at me with aghast, and said in my bed of course.

Rightly or wrongly, I said over my dead body. I told DD in no uncertain terms that this was our home and not a brothel. DH says i'm out of order and reminded me that this is 2011 and not 1951.

I have been in tears over this. Sorry, but it wouldn't matter if she was 17 or 21, she isn't married so I will not let her share a bed in my house. Am confused.

I think you are well within your rights to dictate who stays in your house and which beds they do so in.

But I agree with Fabby et al, you should definitely apologise for the language you subjected your daughter to. It may help open a conversation why you don't feel comfortable with her have sex before marriage, plus she is only still quite young (even though I am aware she is over the age of consent).

Don't let this issue ruin the relationship between you and your daughter.

FWIW - I don't think your a troll, but perhaps you are too emotional to be dealing with responses in AIBU. Perhaps come back and fully digest the advice offered when you've calmed down a bit.

listeningstick - I thought you were new to this site, nay, new to the entire internet! According to your previous post.

You seem quite quick on the draw and well informed for such a newcomer?

listeningstick what a wonderful ironic name you have chosen for yourself. I think nonlisteningstick is more apt though. People like you give Christians a bad name.

Damn there was me trying to be sensible and actually it was just you lot piss taking.

Can you make it easier to identify a piss take thread next time please? as I'm clearly too stupid to work it out

Shakirasma · 23/05/2011 22:11

Interesting that the ops DH doesn't share her views.

OP you won't listen to him, you won't listen to your DD and you won't listen to us. Are you happy on your lonely moral bigoted high ground?

Al0uiseG · 23/05/2011 22:12

It's ok GarlicButter I have pitchfork repellers at either side of my electrocuted gates, thanks for the concern though Wink

Hello LeQ how was DuranDuran?

Glitterknickaz · 23/05/2011 22:12

"You seem quite quick on the draw and well informed for such a newcomer?"

Its pertains to the intellect as to which I was referring in one of my earlier emails. Thank you.
Sorry I have been a little sidetracked/involved from my original post which was just meant to be a single comment, having tucked my daughter in and had a brew however I now return and seem to have contradicted myself and got caught up with some of the comments made. The few comments I have added would hardly constitute being a troll!! I was not aware there was such an air of paranoia on this site.

I'll be even unhappier with a pregnant daughter of 17, with no future.

Of course not Glitter xx Grin

Who says that if someone has a child at 17 then they have no future? What utter rubbish! And where is it set in stone that she wouldn't be taking every precaution to not get pregnant?

You have a very very low opinion of your daughter and that is incredibly sad.

dangerousdebbie1 · 23/05/2011 22:16

listeningstick

My thoughts exactly.

I'm still trying to work out why on earth some posters would consider me a troll. As I said, highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe. Is it really surprising?

OP posts:
Al0uiseG · 23/05/2011 22:16

Since when did having sex have to end in pregnancy? We have wonderful contraceptive devices these days, pills, condoms, diaphragms, implants...

How many children do you have?

GypsyMoth · 23/05/2011 22:16

maybe she's a bit clever and uses contraception??

have you thought of that 'dangerousdebbie'?

Shakirasma · 23/05/2011 22:17

Well that's more likely to happen if she leaves home to escape such bigotry and condemnation of her natural desires, than if she had an aproachable and supportive mother whom she felt able to discuss contraception and sexual health with.

HSMM · 23/05/2011 22:17

I would let him stay, but not in the same bed. I would not call anyone names. I would not be surprised to hear the floorboards creaking in the middle of the night.
