I have just found out that i'm pregnant, in fact just 5 weeks with baby no 6. Baby no 5 is just 6 months old and although unexpected (we were using precautions) and scared s*less of how hard it might be. DD1 21, DS1 19, Ds2 14, DS3 8, DS4 6 months. The two oldest have left home and its not as if I have 5 children all tiny but having teenagers is no picnic by any means and the reaction to the news hasn't been great :( GP's have taken it even worse :( . DH over the moon!!! AIBU to ask people to just accept our decision to have baby no6 and be happy about it??

Thank you ladies, it feels so weird to not just tell people as you ARE always waiting for the reaction and the "are you mad" GP said "think of how many young people are unemployed in this world!!!" I haven't faced them yet :( DH told them for me as I was too scared of their reactions rightly so by the looks of things :( feel like a child again lol.
But this thread is making me feel so much better, thank you!! :) :) :)

oh congratulations!

Am very envious. I have 5 and would love to go for another but DP won't entertain the idea.

Good luck for the pregnancy :D

lynehamrose · 10/05/2011 19:13

YANBU - I would feel scared too! That's some age gap you've got!

largeginandtonic · 10/05/2011 19:22

Congratulations Smile Wonderful news.

I am pregnant with number 8 and am only just telling people. The reactions are typical Sad mostly. Tons of "Are you mad, tv not big enough etc..etc..."

Some great ones too though.

You will be fine Smile

LG&T - Grin Grin amazing news - delighted for you too xxxx

BaldricksTurnip · 10/05/2011 19:27

What a horrible reaction from your GP- how unprofessional! Every baby is a blessing and you have just the same right as anybody else to feel happy about your pregnancy. Big congratulations and the best of luck to you x

largeginandtonic · 10/05/2011 19:28

Do it Reality it is great fun Grin

Notsomuch when the 2 year old vomms on the way in to preschool and in the grip of ms i almost join in. That aside it is fun.

I initially had the same reaction from GPs on both sides and I'm only pg with no2 with 2.5yr age gap Confused and I thought that was pretty standard.

I do think your v brave especially with the age gap but when reading all your DC ages it doesn't seem that bad at all the older ones have left home and the older ones still at home would be able to help with the younger ones.

Congratulations. Grin

thefirstMrsDeVere · 10/05/2011 19:38

Hurray! A baby how LOVELY Grin

I am very jealous Envy

Of course you are scared, even I would be scared and I am the broodier than Queen Broody of Broodyland.

I had my 5th last year when I was 43 and sent OH of for the snip because I knew I would want another one. I was right - I wish he was still willy intactico so I could get pregnant again. I am hoping it didnt work.

Anyway - enough about me.

Who bloody cares what others think? This is your life and you will be fine. It will be knackering but worth it.

largeginandtonic · 10/05/2011 19:41

Thank you Rubs.

Dog i remember you. Have you had another since?

Triggles · 10/05/2011 19:46

Congratulations!!! We had DS3 (number 4 for us, he's almost 2 now) when I was 43. My parents were a bit Hmm but PILs were thrilled for us. Enjoy it and don't let anyone make you feel bad about it - it's a lovely exciting time that should be enjoyed!! (you know, before further sleep deprivation kicks in! Grin)
