they are 21/22, young girls, with the eyes of the world on them. I am horrified at the generally vicious comments about how they looked at the wedding. Leave them alone for goodness sake. Their mother is generally vilified and those girls have to live with that - not least at this wedding where she was notable by her lack of invitation, for whatever reason. How was your confidence when you were 21/22? Probably not that hot. HOw was your fashions sense at that age? Probably not that hot. Did you listen to any advice/advisors at that age? PROBABLY NOT.

fwiw I think they looked great - Eugenie's outfit was lovely and it suited her. Beatrice's coat didn't fit that well but the hat was fab and imo their outfits were a mature and respectful choice.

But I'm a fashion designer, so what would I know

Correction at 21/22 they are grown WOMEN! They are not young "girls".

Some people have children of their own at that age.

When does being a young girl stop these days? 25? 30?

I thought the Yorks were very badly advised/not given an honest opinion and didn't look good at all. They could look stunning (agree with the pics of them in the evening dresses - gorgeous!) but instead looked a bit mad, odd and too old for their years. OP, YABVU but I think you know that by now....

Miriam D-G? I thought her outfit was horrendous. Made her arse look enormous and I hate the whole netting-over-a-dress look, cheap and nasty. Hat/turban thing similarly mental.

Didn't like Sam Cam's either, but I LOVED her shoes! Anyone know where were they from? I've been after a pair of nude shoes like that for ages... :)

I really like Beatrices coat and although the hat is wierd I quite like the fact that it is outlandish. It's quite cool imo. The colour of the outfit is lovely.
Eugenie on the other hand has let herself down. She looks much older than she is. WHY?

Going back to an earlier post of the OP's - my daughter's not in her early 20s, she's nine. So she actually is a young girl.

And yes, I do have a say over what she wears - because I buy it.

maybankholiday you say you'd got for "presentable and ordinary" which is rather the point - some of the royals and others did (eg Joss Stone) but these two emphatcially didn't.

And for that they are being pulled to pieces, fair enough IMO.
