Get ready ladies

I loved it, loved the veil and tiara too, I would give 9 for the dress.

I wanted a bigger bouquet though. I like bigger, messier flowers. I got married last year and insisted on the bouquet being as big as they could get it! It looked like I had falled in to a flower bed. I have tried to single-handedly get brides away from the two tied lilies thing. I am disappointed she didn't pick up on my one-woman crusade.

I didn't like her make-up really but thought her eyebrows looked fab! She should have got me in to do her make-up, definitely. I would have made it much softer.

So let's see...that means that all those brides whose bouquets comprise flowers other than red and white ones are in the clear and everything is destined to be hunky dory with their marriages....? Mmmmm OK Hmm I've a feeling that statistics probably don't quite bear that out...

I'd stick to what looks nice every time and forget the old mumbo jumbo.

Why was Diana's dress such a state?
Were the Emmanuels rubbish designers?
Would they not have thought it through at all in terms of the day et?
I mean that voluminous thing is quite sweet but it didn't do much for her really.

queenceleste - did you see Elizabeth Emanuel on the telly the other day? She looked more way out than Zandra Rhodes. Diana's dress was such a state because they didn't seem to understand what happens to endless yards of silk when you crush it into a coach. Diana had an amazing figure and was beautiful yet they managed to make her look faintly ridiculous.

My mum's still tutting about it 30 years on!

campion · 01/05/2011 01:57

Oh, and 10 for Kate's dress. Gorgeous.

FriedSpamButty · 01/05/2011 01:58

Oooh I saw Elizabeth Emanuel on telly!! What did she have on her head though? Was it a hat or a wig? She looked like Zelda off Terrahawks! Someone should have had a quiet word.

And yes Diana's dress was bloody awful, poor girl.

Thruaglassdarkly · 01/05/2011 03:48

She looked glam, but the dress on its own was a bit blah. 5/10 I'd say and a bit granified. But she's so stunning, she wore it well and made it an 8/10. Just think it coulda been a bit more wow.

She is wow so no need to draw any more attention with the dress. I guess the more beautiful a woman is the less she needs to wow with her clothes. She did wow though.

She is one class act. Understated. Elegant. She carried off simple and modest because she is just so refined and truly beautiful in the best sense of that word.
Like a modern day medieval queen meets Grace Kelly.

I also love she didn't follow that boring look that so many brides go for today- some variation of shoulderless. Sorry to anyone who is a fan of that- I know it is a safe choice but just so repetitive. Everyone seems to look the same- I rarely see a wedding dress that makes me gasp but Kate's did.

Repetitive wedding dresses.....just like me with my message...!

DontGoCurly · 01/05/2011 09:05

Agree with you misslc, especially about the shoulderless dresses. Bandeau wedding dresses are vile. They generally give the wearer a monoboob and make their arms look like two ham hocks! Eurgh!

Kate was demure and feminine. Elegant and classy!

RoadArt · 01/05/2011 10:25

At the risk of showing my ignorance, why should red and white flowers not be put together?

eurochick · 01/05/2011 10:26

I LOVED the top of Kate's dress but wasn't keen on the lower half. It looked like it belonged to a different dress and having the embroidery at the bottom competing with the lace on top was just too much. The train length was good though - grand enough for a cathdral (well, abbey) but not daft like Diana's. I also thought it looked a touch long - it caught on the ground as she walked. I made them alter my wedding dress when it did that! Her evening gown was exactly the same length and I kept thinking she was going to trip over it. Overall 7/10. Best big royal wedding dress in a long while but not spot on.

Her bouquet was a bit small for the overall look and her eye make up was too heavy. But she looked happy, which overshadows that.

Pippa looked good, but the dress didn't go with anything else. It would have looked lovely on its own for a summer wedding. And she needs to lay off the St Tropez. 5/10.

Little bridesmaids - underwhelming.

Queenie looked lovely. Isn't she wearing well?

Mother Middleton looked classy. She got it just right.

Bea and Eugenie need a personal shopper. The beige Valentino outfit was lovely but the hat???????? The blue Westwood made her look like Old Mother Hubbard all bundled up.

Wills looked lovely. Harry was slouching. My hubby reckoned his old Sergeant Major was shouting at the telly "get the back of your neck in that collar NOW" "shoulders back" etc. Heh. I reckon he had a minging hangover and couldn't bear to stand up straight!

TragicallyRoyallyHip · 01/05/2011 10:28

Oi Oi

I wore a strapless wedding dress and it was a beautiful dress thank you very bloody much!!

Absolutelyfabulous · 01/05/2011 10:41

Loved Kate's dress - just perfect.

Thought Pippas was dullsville and very Home Counties bride yawn.
But then I'm glad I got married years before the trend for strapless sheath wedding dresses, they flatter so very, very few people.

allbie · 01/05/2011 11:12

I thought Pippa rather out foxed Kate. She looked simply gorgeous...Kate looked great too obviously but her sister was stunning.

rockinhippy · 01/05/2011 11:13

I'm neither a lover or hater of strapless gowns, some can look great, others not so great,

but for those of you complaining of how they fit, monoboob & "armgina" (love that descrpition Grin - & I've seen plenty & can add the back flesh over hang to that list too :)

but none of that has anything to do with the style of dress - its down to poor fit & cut - cut properly for the bride in question, theres no need for any of those eyesores

& Roadart Red & white flowers are a portent/sign of death, yellow sickness etc etc, just as red rose means pasionate love, white spiritual love & friendship - Kates bouquet was chosen with all symbolic flowers, hence why I think it worked beautifully, understated & classy, but with a lot of meaning to it :)

BalloonSlayer · 01/05/2011 11:32

Ask your granny about red and white flowers. They always shudder and say "Blood and bandages!"

Gooseysgirl · 01/05/2011 11:56

Loved Kate's dress, and I thought Pippa looked stunning too... but as for the York girls - how do they manage to consistently get it so wrong? Beatrice looked like a bull in that monstrosity on her head, I hope the photographer made her take it off for the family photos...

Rohanda · 01/05/2011 12:33

It seems there's a new facebook page devoted entirely to Pippa's lovely bottom.
