I posted this in feminism but think this is appalling, if true.

Larry are you disagreeing with what I said or are you just trying to tell me how I may and may not post? Sounded like the latter to me.

You may not know what feminist analysis is, but I do, and I don't need your permission to apply it to sexist comments.

MarshaBrady · 28/04/2011 09:46

Have only watched clip. Find all the laughing and carrying on worse then the put down.

larrygrylls · 28/04/2011 09:49

Stewie,

Thanks for marking my comments as a delta minus. Luckily, you are not actually my teacher.

All my comments have addressed the thread, if you check. I told you my take on his comment (sexist and unpleasant, but out of character and will be quickly forgotten), I referenced the greatest female politician the UK has seen (Maggie) and gave you my take on how she would have dealt with it. All directly relevant.

It was you having an aggressive debate with Rob which "derailed" it.

Beachcomber · 28/04/2011 09:51

That's why the put down works though - because there is an audience of guffawing privileged men to jeer and slap each others backs.

Beachcomber,

I am absolutely not telling you how to analyse a comment. You are an autonomous individual and you can apply Freudian analysis, Jungian analysis, Scriptural analysis or any other kind of analysis that you like to what Cameron said!

I am telling you that you do not have the right to tell other posters in what terms they are allowed to analyse.

MarshaBrady · 28/04/2011 09:52

Yes beachcomber the whole thing stinks. And you can see a women behind laughing, shoulders heaving. Bad stuff.

carocaro · 28/04/2011 09:52

Watch it, Clegg does not laugh at all and makes no facial expression; Osborne guffaws like a buffoon. Speaks volumes. Cameron was clearly riled, red faced and spluttering, and had to resort to a derogatory comments. Again speaks volumes.

And just because Michael Winner coined the phrase, so what?

MarshaBrady · 28/04/2011 09:52

woman of course,

MarshaBrady · 28/04/2011 09:53

I like Clegg more for not laughing.

Lilmeena · 28/04/2011 09:56

SGM - this isn't a feminist thread, this is AIBU, and a lot of people thought the op was being unreasonable - it's not all about you and your feminist agenda.

Take a day off -

Beachcomber · 28/04/2011 09:56

Ah, thank you for claryfying Larry. So you are throwing your weight around and telling me how I may or may not post. Thought so.

Please don't.

ccpccp · 28/04/2011 09:58

Angela Eagle had lost any control of her composure and was squarking and shrieking like a lunatic. Millibland was being handed his arse as usual so I suppose she was feeling a little frustrated.

Well done to Cameron for closing her down. Its just a shame he gave Labour a headline to draw attention away from the good growth figures.

Collaborate · 28/04/2011 09:59

All a storm in a tea cup, thoug if Cameron wants to be popular why does he quote from that twat Michael Winner. The most annoying person on TV.

MarshaBrady · 28/04/2011 10:02

I couldn't hear her bit. Maybe had sound too low.

Blackduck · 28/04/2011 10:02

Lilmeena - yes it is in AIBU, and yet alot of people are making it out to be political - not in politics though is it?

Good growth figures Hmm

larrygrylls · 28/04/2011 10:05

CCP,

No growth over 6 months? Good?!

We need to really cut public services and not allow the overpaid managers within the public service to choose to cut the frontline. We also need some real investment in infrastructure and a regional growth policy. Then taxes need to be cut as soon as it is affordable and in a sensible way to incentivise the right people.

There is a cigarette paper's worth of real policy difference between the government and the opposition at the moment. The less the real differences, the more noise the politicos like to make.

larrygrylls · 28/04/2011 10:07

Cut the public sector, not cut the services. Sorry. They can cut a lot with no noticeable difference on the front line.

Actually Laughed Out Loud at "Good Growth Figures" Come on for God's sake - the economy is as flat as a pancake for 6 months and you call that Good Growth? Holy Lord! Grin

I wonder why you are critisising the woman for "shrieking and squarking (whatever that means)" and not the men for their Hurrumphing and shouting. Same old Shit, different day.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/04/2011 10:08

Thanks Quelle, you took the words out of my mouth.

madamimadam · 28/04/2011 10:09

I think Rob is David Willetts IRL

And if it's just a joke, who is Cameron's speechwriter? Jim Davidson?

larrygrylls · 28/04/2011 10:09

Stewie and Beachcomber,

Stop with this ludicrous straw man argument. No one is trying to tell you where or what you can post. If anything, the reverse. To paraphrase the great Starwars: "Your Jedi tricks not work here, this is not the feminism section, only real arguments work here".

cuteboots · 28/04/2011 10:12

Patronising son of a bitch ! She stayed very calm and if someone spoke to me like that they would get a right tongue lashing . Plus they are now dragging up that awful car ins advert and saying its just a saying and he didnt mean anything and was under pressure at the time! And these are the children we have running the country you cant call them adults can you really!!

ccpccp · 28/04/2011 10:12

"I couldn't hear her bit. Maybe had sound too low."

Eagle made the high pitched shriek that drowns out all the other heckling, right before Camerons comment.

"Good growth figures"

More than enough growth to show Coalition cuts as working, and Labour as scaremongering opportunists.
