I posted this in feminism but think this is appalling, if true.

bollocks post lilmeena - according to that pile of shite anyone who objects to how they are being treated reveals a mass of insecurities about themselves.

and feminists don't wonder why there can be a negative image of feminism. The answers to that one are all around, which you are happily contributing to.

as for DC himself?- a slimey little twat from a twatish background - he will have grasp the significance of his comment ( unlike you) and used it deliberately.

aliceliddell · 29/04/2011 12:08

YES! It's here! "No sense of humour" "Should concentrate on real sexism"
HOUSE!

katiepie · 29/04/2011 12:19

I think what he said sounded pompus and arrogant. It was sexist. Did it upset me? No! Would it make me want to vote Cameron? No!

Lilmeena · 29/04/2011 13:46

Rohanda:

Just forget it - this is yesterdays news and not worth anymore of our time, plus I'm enjoying the royal wedding - Y'know, a woman gazing into a mans eyes, eyes full of love and admiration - shocking - should be banned.

HerBEggs · 29/04/2011 14:10

LOLOL Lilmeena there's a negative image of feminism because the mysogynist media and its handmaidens like you, constantly trot out the same old tired stereotypes.

Carry on with your denial, it feels like a safe place to be I know. Pretend that women have achieved equality and ignore all the evidence that we haven't and that therefore anything men say is culture and connotation-free.

Do you also claim that calling a black man Boy carries no offensive connotations because it's not directly racist (not like the N word) and there's no official racism anymore?

singlemumsaresuper · 29/04/2011 14:42

I think Andrea Eagle has come out of this exchange the better. Have to say I wish that Parliament and the country was more in tune with what the feminist movement was, and is, about. Less hiding behind androcntric protestation and greater proactive in the inclusion of women, and their sensitivities, would be very welcome.

singlemumsaresuper · 29/04/2011 15:40

There is a credible theory that this was a deliberate distraction technique to mask the failure(s) of the perpetrator and his policy(ies). Poor technique methinks, for long term sustainability depends on the female vote.

Lilmeena · 29/04/2011 16:14

HerBEggs;

I like you too much to seriously argue with you,
Why don't we just get along happily whilst occupying our own little worlds?

(( it's Carminaburana here btw, we 'chatted' a bit on the GPU thread )

Viva la difference & all that.

aliceliddell · 29/04/2011 19:25

Why is this so difficult to identify as patronising sexism? Are we really so witless that Cameron has to preface it by saying "I'm going to infantalise my political opponent because I believe her to be my inferior by virtue of her biology"?

Rohanda · 29/04/2011 19:42

lil - with all of that gazing into eyes stuff you are deliberatly missing the point.

if you consider it to be ok for a PM to demonstrate his poor attitude to womankind then you occupy an immense space called denial. You will need assistance to get out of this position. Just ask for it?

Oh dear Lilmeena when you start getting well known anti-feminists like Harpy telling you your posts are brilliant, you need to worry. Grin What was the GPU thread btw?

Lilmeena · 30/04/2011 12:13

Grin oh wow - I've been spotted by royalty -

& I'm not anti-feminist - I'm anti-silly person, there's a BIG difference.

( glad you can't remember the other thread actually - I think I over shared - lol )

depo · 02/05/2011 19:24

YANBU I was appalled by this remark, and the photo of Cameron and Osbourne smirking. It looked like creepy public schoolboy prefects humiliating some lesser being (ie woman). Made me feel queasy.
