Stuff the Royal Wedding more important to remember is the 96 innocent people that died at Anfield after the disaster struck spare a thought for those and their families instead of the stuck up twats and there stupid pathetic wedding

We are Liverpool Fans and watch LFC channel today as a mark of respect

Don't mix up your htred of the Royals with the deaths ate Hillsborough, you cannot compare the two.

Pancakeflipper · 15/04/2011 18:22

It's not being forgotten about in Yorkshire either. It's referred to in daily life, not just on anniversaries.

Carminaburana · 15/04/2011 18:22

What's the connection? - I'd get it ( a bit ) if today was the Royal wedding but it isn't

Yabu.

SomethingSuper · 15/04/2011 18:23

This sort of thing makes me feel reallu uneasy and a bit cringey.

charleneanne · 15/04/2011 18:23

You are right fivegomadinthelambingshed Hillsborough is important, the Royals are not

OP posts:
Bottleofbeer · 15/04/2011 18:24

Believe me Pancakeflipper it's talked about in day to dy life here in Liverpool too.

headfairy · 15/04/2011 18:24

out of genuine curiosity, how does it come up in daily conversation?

grovel · 15/04/2011 18:25

What a nasty, mean-minded OP.

Pancakeflipper · 15/04/2011 18:25

I think it's the "aggression" from the OP about 2 diverse events that's upsetting SomethingSuper.

complexnumber · 15/04/2011 18:25

Why is it MORE important?

I'm no great Royalist, but I don't understand why it is more important to remember a tragedy from the past, rather than share a day that could be a lot of fun and something our kids can remember for a long time in the future.

(You could probably find some sort of tragedy to remember for most of the days of the year, is that what you do?)

diabolo · 15/04/2011 18:26

The Hillsborough Anniversary isn't even on the same date as the Royal Wedding, so I am really confused Confused

Bottleofbeer · 15/04/2011 18:26

Headfairy, possibly because there was never any real closure for the families.

charleneanne · 15/04/2011 18:30

The police need to admit that many of the deaths were due to them

OP posts:
SomethingSuper · 15/04/2011 18:32

This sort of thread, in my opinion, confirms every nasty, petty, unkind stereotype about people from Liverpool.

charleneanne · 15/04/2011 18:33

Liverpool people are lovely

OP posts:
Pancakeflipper · 15/04/2011 18:33

It's the anniversary of the Bradford City Fire that took 56 lives and injured many more a few days after the Royal Wedding... Just thought I'd point that out to the OP...

BooBooGlass · 15/04/2011 18:34

somethingsuper and charleneanne are you actually the same poster? Remarkable that you've both registered within days of each other if not Hmm

Bottleofbeer · 15/04/2011 18:35

(You could probably find some sort of tragedy to remember for most of the days of the year, is that what you do?)

Could it be that maybe she lost someone? maybe she was there?

How flippant. A child as young as ten died that day. It was horrific, even moreso because it was so easily prevented. I'll give you something to think about, forget everything else, the lies etc... please justify how when it was evident people were dying and seriously injured the police officer in charge refused to allow any more than one of the 40 odd ambulances onto the pitch (fact). Morethan 40 ambulances were outside that pitch with lifesaving equipment and they weren't allowed to help.

They were families like yours and mine who had only gone to a football match on a lovely Saturday afternoon, women, children, men crushed to death while those in charge sat and scratched their arses rather than admit they couldn't cope with the situation. That's why they should be remembered.

charleneanne · 15/04/2011 18:35

Pancakeflipper and that is also more important than the poxy Royal Wedding

OP posts:
complexnumber · 15/04/2011 18:35

"The police need to admit that many of the deaths were due to them"

What has that to do with the Royal wedding?

charleneanne · 15/04/2011 18:37

Bottleofbeer i agree with you fully it was a fact than many of those lives could have been saved and aslo the 10 year old was related to Steven Gerrard

twirlymum · 15/04/2011 18:37

The Tiannamen Square protests started on April 15th 1989.

Just thought I'd mention it.

diabolo · 15/04/2011 18:37

complex I keep asking that but no-one will tell me.

Pancake I remember watching that live on telly with my Dad. Awful sight.

Catrinm · 15/04/2011 18:37

Yes but what's that got to do with the royal wedding????? I'm no royalist and won't be watching it but???.....

I genuinely feel sorry for those lost and bereaved and justice needs to be done however there are lots of horrible things that happen to perfectly decent people every day.

It is a week before the royal wedding. I'm sure it is a painful anniversary for thousands of people in the UK.

Do we never have anything nice ever again?
