For you Eggy :o

OP posts:
wordfactory · 14/04/2011 22:04

I explain the miners strike to my chucks...while pinning Cath Kidson ribbons in their combs.

wordfactory · 14/04/2011 22:06

Actually I don't know what has worried me most...the idea that I can't be feminist and have kids, or that I can't keep chickens and be working class.

mamarara · 14/04/2011 22:07

OP have you heard of the Patriarchy?
Women are not equal to men when they simply try and behave like men (go out to work for example) - that is women conforming to the male ideal.

If you are a feminist you value traditional women's roles (such as childcare) to be of the same importance as traditional male roles. And the ideal is for everyone (women and men) to have a choice.

Oh and to not use rape as a weapon of war/oppression but that's just a small point.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/04/2011 22:07

Are chickens posh, then?

MigratingCoconuts · 14/04/2011 22:08

are they ever! boden florals everywhere, if you let them

PoppyDoolally · 14/04/2011 22:08

chickens have no eyebrows. is this because sexist society has caused them to wax?

MigratingCoconuts · 14/04/2011 22:09

ps, thanks for that lactose intolerant tip earlier, I used it on this thread and looked way smarter than I normally do...

wordfactory · 14/04/2011 22:11

God, I'm coming to terms with a lot tonight.

  1. I may be killing my chucks with left over cheese toasties.
  2. I am middle class.
  3. I am not a feminist.

My world is in tatters...

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/04/2011 22:12

No. It's because they don't have any hair anywhere. Not even eyelashes. Although, if you look really closely, they do have tiny feathers in an eyebrow-like place. Actually, if you look really closely, they look like scary-arse dinosaurs.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/04/2011 22:14

Oh, you won't kill them word. It just tends to give them the shits. Birds in general can't process milk, what with not being mammals and all. They prefer frogs and mice.

PoppyDoolally · 14/04/2011 22:15

I think hardhat's thread has died a chicken-related death.

cockadoodledo.

wordfactory · 14/04/2011 22:16

I didn't know that!!!!!!
Mine are like feckin' dogs, pecking round for any left overs etc.

wordfactory · 14/04/2011 22:17

poppy there's more than one way to skin an anti feminist Wink

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/04/2011 22:17

Yep, mine too. Greedy feckers chickens. They are also fond of grapes, but the coop has to be hosed out the next day

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/04/2011 22:18

Poppy, chickens go bok-ARK

xstitch · 14/04/2011 22:20

I haven't read the whole thread sorry but isn't feminism about women have access to choices and opportunities? SO as long as they are chosing to marry and procreate and are not being forced into it then they are not going against their ideals.

PoppyDoolally · 14/04/2011 22:28

xstich - yes, absolutely!!! That's about right IMO.

What is bok-ARK?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/04/2011 22:30

It's the noise a chicken makes

PoppyDoolally · 14/04/2011 22:32

Oh my god.

Don't they go 'BWARK-bwark-bwark-bwark'?

Blush
ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/04/2011 22:33

Shock Poppy! Don't reopen the debate!

PoppyDoolally · 14/04/2011 22:35

Poppy stands corrected.

Wink
PeachyAndTheArghoNauts · 15/04/2011 14:03

What a joke

That WC people can't keep chickens: why, Nan was as WC as they come 916 kids in small council house etc etc) and she kept laods (all nicked from what I am told)

For the MC tis just a phase. For the rest of us, is eggs for life Wink

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/04/2011 14:40

Posh people keep their chickens in Gypsy Caravans and decorate them with bunting

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 15/04/2011 16:08

what, they decorate the chickens with bunting? tied from their comb to the top of their tail?

MigratingCoconuts · 15/04/2011 17:47

I heard a rumour that some chickkens are made to wear lipstick
