Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

[bugrin] gomummy Great to hear ds is on the mend x

What are you cooking for Sunday ? Smile
I am sending Dh out on a mission to buy a turkey tomorrow morning so i can cook it on Sunday . Need some dessert suggestions Grin

CheerfulYank · 22/04/2011 19:22

Ooh,apparently we do get mail today as it is a religious holiday and not a national one. Yay! I was supposed to get my Entertainment Weekly magazine yesterday and didn't, so it'd better be in the box today.

gomummygo · 22/04/2011 23:13

LOL, Cheerful the only thing we don't seem to have today is mail! What is in Entertainment Weekly ? Celeb stuff I'm guessing from the name of it? (Now will be Blush if I am way off!)

Elmo I have to do two meals; a turkey/stuffing/gravy/mashed potato/veggies meal for a dinner (Sunday) and a ham/scallopped potato/salads meal for a lunch (Monday). With turkey meal, desserts are pecan pie and pumpkin pie; with ham meal dessert is NY style cheesecake with a berry compote topping (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and then fresh strawberry to garnish). Apps are the same for both as they take too much time to prep! So both meals (with different guests!) will be stuffed mushrooms and maple baked cheeses for appetizers.

What do you have for yours?

CheerfulYank · 22/04/2011 23:24

Mmm, all that sounds delicious! I don't have to cook for the Sunday meal but we usually have ham, different salads, etc, at DH's aunt's.

Entertainment Weekly isn't so much celeb stuff. It does have that, but it's basically reviews of new movies, TV shows, books, etc. It's a big deal with us nerds! :o

I went out in the rain to get salmon as uber-Catholic DH can't have meat tonight. :) It'd better be good; I'm doing a maple marinade and we're having butternut squash risotto from a box . Blush

gomummygo · 23/04/2011 01:36

Maple salmon sounds delicious Cheerful! Never done it that way, but I bet it would be great, you will have to let us know how it turns out!

candleshoe · 23/04/2011 16:02

Happy St. George's Day Dragon

CheerfulYank · 23/04/2011 17:59

It was quite good gomummy ! It was just a marinade of equal parts maple syrup and soy sauce, then broiled.

Happy St George's Day to you too candle ! We don't celebrate it here, what do you do for it?

elmofan · 23/04/2011 18:39

Sounds yummy gomummy you must really love cooking to do 2 big meals 2 days in a row Grin < Brew for you to relax with >

I'm cooking a turkey and Ham {same as Christmas dinner} stuffing , sprouts , carrots and Roast / mashed potato's . I have bought in dessert Blush Pavlova sitting in the fridge

Happy St. George's day to you too candle -

CheerfulYank · 23/04/2011 21:03

Tea, just caught up with what's going on on the dumpling thread (hope that's okay) and I am Shock Angry Shock Angry !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell him to get over himself and start thinking of his children immediately or I will find a way over there. GRRRRRRRRR! (When my grandfather was alive he always called me Little Bumblebee because I'm always happy, just flitting about from flower to flower...until someone messes with me or mine, and then I will sting the sh#t out of them. And at this point, Tea , you count as mine. :) ) What do his parents have to say? I would be beside myself if DS ever acted in such a manner.

And her ! What kind of a woman gets with a married man, for starters, and then asks him to see less of his children! Disgusting.

Sorry, I'm just very angry that this is happening to you.

I hope you and the kiddos have a happy Easter! [busmile]

gomummygo · 23/04/2011 21:09

Happy St. George's day to you too Candle. I am a bit embarrassed to say that I don't know what it is?

That sounds like a good combo Cheerful, I like salty-sweet, must give that a try! Bet it would be good on a pork tenderloin or something like that too. Ooooh or as a glaze for carrots? Do you think?

I do have an odd love of feeding people actually Elmo! By Monday night I'll be ready to put my feet up though! Grin Thanks! Your dinner sounds wonderful. If it is not too nosy, can I ask what you put in your mashed potatoes?

CheerfulYank · 23/04/2011 21:11

I think if I were doing it on carrots I'd up the maple syrup a bit. I was a bit Hmm when I read the recipe but it's fantastic, and so easy! :)

candleshoe · 23/04/2011 21:16

St. George is patron saint of England!

Elmo, gomummy and cheerful - Wow at all the catering! Shock

Blush [busmile] thanks Candle! Oooh, your salads sound good. Is lime dressing lime juice with some kind of oil or is there more to it? Have fun at the seaside, there is something so relaxing about staring out at the ocean...Envy that you are so close though, it's a looooong drive for us to either side! But so worth it!
