Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Yes, we have thousands of lakes but there's just something about the sea, isn't there? We (Minnesota) are pretty much smack-dab in the middle of North America so there'd be a lot of driving to get there.

Elmo I'd love to come visit you! It would be so fun. I really need to start playing the lottery more.

gomummygo · 23/04/2011 22:42

5 mins Elmo!!! Gee, I am only about 20 hours drive one way, 55 hours drive the other, lol!

Oh Tea, just checked out your link. :( You must feel so emotionally exhausted. Wish I could do anything at all to help. Always here if you want to pm me just to rant.

valiumredhead · 25/04/2011 11:52

Hello people! :)

Tea hope you are ok?

Off to a water park this afternoon as the weather is so lovely again, hope everyone else is having a good Easter break x

CheerfulYank · 25/04/2011 16:36

Hi Buddies! Quiet around here, which I hope means everyone is having a wonderful holiday :) I have to go back to work tomorrow...ugh! But that means that I'm in the home stretch- school's out on June 3rd. They asked if I wanted to do summer school and I'm torn about it...I need the money but I also need a three month vacation. :o

Have a good day! It finally feels like spring here!

valiumredhead · 25/04/2011 17:40

candleshoe · 25/04/2011 21:08

Take the holiday cheerful - you can always live on pasta and baked potatoes when the money runs out!

Just back from the seaside - foolishly a bit burnt as usual! Hope everyone had a fab Easter.

valiumredhead · 26/04/2011 17:54

Hello :)

Back to school tomorrow for 2 days and then off for 4 - loving all the bank holidays Grin

urghhhh chicken pox - have they been bad elmo? Ds had it when he was 2 so got it over and done with quickly!

elmofan · 26/04/2011 18:29

Hi valium Smile

DD = not 2 bad , all cleared up now - took 2 weeks for the spots to go .
Ds = much worse Sad spots Everywhere I've been told it's because he is older (12) apparently it's worse the older you are when you catch them .
I'm just grumpy today (been stuck indoors with the 2 dc's for almost 3 weeks now aggggghhhhh and dh has been on a bad shift so he has hardly been here while the dc's are up ). I had a run in with the little boy next door this morning
I'll link to my AIBU thread - Be gentle Wink

CheerfulYank · 26/04/2011 18:51

There Elmo , posted. YANBU :) Poor DS, hope he's better soon.

I have just tried to sign DS up for preschool next year and the morning class is already full. UGH! I work mornings, part time, and I don't want to have him in daycare all morning and then preschool in the afternoon. So I'm thinking of switching work to the afternoons, but I've always insisted on part time mornings so I'm going to come off like a total princess if I now demand afternoons. Sigh...

elmofan · 26/04/2011 19:00

Switching to work in the afternoons sounds reasonable to me , i'm sure your boss will understand once you explain the situation . Is there much chance of a cancellation for the morning group , maybe you could ask for them to put your ds's name down just in case some other child drops out .

CheerfulYank · 26/04/2011 19:03

I thought that, but if I am going to change schedules I'll have to make the decision rather quickly. :( I wouldn't mind too much tbh. Mornings around here are totally crazy, so the extra time would be appreciated. I'd like to quit work altogether, honestly. :)

elmofan · 26/04/2011 19:25

Will ds be starting pre-school this coming september?
Thats when our new school year starts here is it the same in the
USA?

I am a SAHM, it has its good points but it can get
lonely when the dc's are all in school & dh being in work.
Could you give it a trial during the summer break& use these
3 months off to see if you like being at home permanently?

CheerfulYank · 26/04/2011 19:52

Yes, he'll start in September. I've had every summer off since he's been born - I know I like it :o He would only be in school three days a week, from 12:30 to 2:45. So I wouldn't have too much extra time to get lonely really. We'll see what happens...so many decisions!

elmofan · 26/04/2011 21:00

Aww i hope it all works out for you cheerful , you won't get lonely just think of all the extra time you will have to Mumsnet do housework in peace Grin

CheerfulYank · 26/04/2011 21:13

That's the plan! :) I'd have to stop work anyway if I had another DC because I would make negative money after paying daycare for two. Am Envy of your nurseries!

I went ahead and signed him up for the afternoon preschool because there were very few spots left and I didn't want him to not be able to go at all. So. I'll have to make some decisions regarding that! I also signed him up for soccer and t-ball, which will be so much fun to watch. :)

Gray and rainy here today, what's it like where everyone else is? It was glorious yesterday, so I have hope that spring is truly here. :)

elmofan · 26/04/2011 22:14

Yes the new scheme here regarding free pre-school
year is fantastic, it only came into effect here half way
through dd's pre-school year so she only got to benefit
From 4 months free. Her fee's were very expensive prior
to the scheme so that was a huge relief Smile

gomummygo · 26/04/2011 22:59

Evening all! :)

A day of cleaning up the aftermath today, have finally got my kitchen back in order. Have also fixed the car and re-caulked the bathtub.

Aw Cheerful, soccer and t-ball will be so much fun! (For DS too!) Grin I bet it will be just far too adorable for words. We're a year away from being able to join such things yet and I'm already looking forward to it!

Another one here who envies your nursery/preschool systems over there, Elmo. How old was DD when she started?

Hope you can swing being at home Cheerful!

elmofan · 26/04/2011 23:47

Hi gomummy Grin
Has spring arrived for you yet?
[heres a Brew to help you relax]

dd started pre-school at 3.5yrs
then she started primary school last september.

CheerfulYank · 27/04/2011 02:22

DS started preschool at 3 too, but it was expensive. For us anyway! :) And it's only 4 hours a week. Anyway, sounds like DH is having a rough time settling DS down for bed so I suppose I should tear myself away from MN and assist. :)

valiumredhead · 27/04/2011 17:47

Evening all :)

Lovely and sunny here but really chilly - it's deceptive.

I posted on your thread elmo :)

candleshoe · 27/04/2011 19:29

evenin' all [cgrin]

CheerfulYank · 27/04/2011 19:49

Hello. We just went to DH's great-auntie's funeral. She was lovely; we'll miss her. Her name was Adeline, which I've always thought was pretty. I feel terrible because she lived in our town but we only saw her every now and then. She lived very near our bank and every time I'd go I'd think, "oh I should pop by and see Adeline." I never did though because I didn't know if she'd like me dropping by randomly. I should have asked. :(

When MIL went to the house to gather up some things she'd had an Easter egg waiting for DS on the table. She must have planned on dropping it off. :(

candleshoe · 27/04/2011 19:52

Sad oh dear Cheerful. Sorry for your loss - these things are nevr easy are they - when my Granny died just after Xmas it was the first Xmas ever I hadn't spent time with her - still feel bad now - 4 months later. I'm sure your DHs Great Aunt knew she was loved.

elmofan · 27/04/2011 19:53

Hello [csmile]

so does everyone in England get the day off work &
School on Friday to celebrate the royal wedding?

Will you do anything special for it?

my parents are away on holiday this week, due to travel home
on Friday and i've just had to listen for the last half hour to my
mum moaning about how she is going to miss out on the tv showing the
wedding as she won't get home till 3pm (ish) [cgrin] . She's really excited
and we are not even English.
