Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Still alive but still out of touch with mumsnet Blush

Stripping my nasty old fashioned textured wall paper in my bedroom at last after talking for almost a year about it. Plan to put up lining paper and paint it then an "old rose" B&Q colour, going totally girly in my room. Made some money on ebay this month selling things and decided it was time to do it Grin

Knackered at the moment. Good and bad days with ExH and the ongoing saga with OW imminent move down here.

Decor sounds fab Smile you've been missed on here x
Is it definite that the OW is moving near you then tea ? Sad

Teaandcakeplease · 06/05/2011 20:41

Yeah it is. Whether they move in together or not at this time is still tbc Hmm Confused But she's coming down here and no doubt ExH will suddenly see the DCs less and change how we've managed contact for the last 18 months or so Angry

Oh yeah being a single mum is kinda cool as I can really girly-fy my bedroom Grin

elmofan · 06/05/2011 20:49

I love Rose pink so i'm very Envy

I honestly can not see it working out for them if they move in together , she sounds very jealous & insecure and that could end up causing major problems between them , if she makes him choose between her and the children then of course he will pick his children over her .

gomummygo · 06/05/2011 23:24

Welcome back Tea! Ugh that you're stripping old wallpaper though, that is not fun! Sounds like it will be really nice when you're done though.

Sorry to hear that OW is moving near you. I'm with Elmo though, if her insecurity makes her try to drive a wedge between XH and your DC, it may just drive him away from her.

CheerfulYank · 07/05/2011 04:19

Mmm, salad! Delish :)

Tea the room sounds fab, you'll have to put up pics. Sorry to hear about the OW drama; I think you are so strong and brave and I really admire you for always keeping things steady for your DC. You are a wonder, lady! :)

Teaandcakeplease · 07/05/2011 07:43

He's weak and has compromised a lot for her already. He's desperate to save the relationship at whatever the cost Sad

OP posts:
Teaandcakeplease · 07/05/2011 07:44

I'm excited about my bedroom. I'm going to make it ridiculously feminine by the time I'm done Grin

OP posts:
elmofan · 07/05/2011 16:01

IMO tea the only reason he is desperate to save this relationship with OW is because if it fails then he will have lost his family (you & dc's) all for nothing Sad and maybe he can't cope with that .

gomummygo · 07/05/2011 17:48

@ Tea :)

Yep, agree completely with Elmo about why XH would be desperate to make relationship with OW work out....how would he feel/look/etc. having lost his family for nothing. But, that won't make a successful relationship with OW long term! Sounds a bit doomed, really.

What is everyone eating tonight? Need ideas....

elmofan · 07/05/2011 18:16

Smile gomummy - I am cheating tonight and having a take away , its chicken & chips and chicken gravy all round here . We've been at my parents house most of the day as dh was doing a bit of DIY for them and i'm too lazy tired to start cooking Grin

CheerfulYank · 07/05/2011 18:20

I'm going out with my best friends for drinks and supreme nachos tonight, so I'm no help either! :) DH said something about making fettucine with peas and shrimp for DS.

valiumredhead · 07/05/2011 18:21

Hello, I have a poorly ds he has a STINKING cold and ratty with it ........

Rose pink is so feminine with touches of pale green Grin

elmofan · 07/05/2011 18:29

Have fun tonight cheerful Smile

Aww poor ds valium Do you have any Karvol to put on a tissue beside his pillow to help him breath during the night ?

valiumredhead · 07/05/2011 18:30

elmo yes, I just nipped out to the shops to get some Karvol - not quite as string as Vicks. I am praying for a decent night's sleep tonight!

valiumredhead · 07/05/2011 18:30

STRONG

elmofan · 07/05/2011 18:33

DD wont let me near her with Vicks Grin so Karvol is the next best thing .
Could you give him some Calpol just before bedtime ?

Teaandcakeplease · 07/05/2011 20:40

Tried to take the radiator off the wall today and one joint is so stiff it wouldn't budge and now there's a slow leak. Harrumph! So much for my DIY Wink A friend with some plumbers tape will have to help me correct that next week Blush Right now there's an oven tray underneath.

It's going to take me ages to strip the wall paper it's a real bugger at coming off despite wire brush first, oddles of wall paper stripping solution and then after a soak breaking out the scrapper. It's welded to the wall. I cannot afford to rent a steamer

I will get there though, little by little.

Hmmm pale green? It's all going to pink or plum. How boring Blush

gomummygo · 07/05/2011 23:09

Aw Valium, colds all around here too, no fun. Vicks all around here, DS calls it "the sick goo." Hmm Do you use a humidifier?

Tea if you're interested...I could never shell out the $$ for a steamer - I remove wallpaper with my trusty spray bottle:

  • 2 parts HOT water
  • 1 part vinegar
  • 1 part liquid fabric softener

If the wallpaper is like the hideous stuff that used to be in my last house, I had to score the outer layer with a blade so the stuff could get under the surface. Then sprayed it on heavily, let it sit ten minutes, and presto!

Unfortunately now everyone wants me to come over when they have to remove wallpaper. Hmm

Might be worth a shot. Such a miserable job removing it in tiny little pieces!

Well, supper ended up being one of my pasta concoctions. Fettucine with shrimp (thanks Cheerful) with a sauce of olive oil, butter (I know, really low fat, huh?) and bits and bobs that are still around from last year's garden - copious amounts of garlic, red onions, a diced up tomato, some chopped spinach, and then creminis with a lemon squeezed on top and a little parmesan. I intended to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow but...well...I was hungry... Grin

elmofan · 08/05/2011 14:00

tea i asked DH about the radiator and he reckons you need a putty that never sets to rub on the threads to seal the joint thats leaking its called
Plumbers Mate then just tighten up the joint . It seals better than the tape
HTH Smile
