Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Evening all!

It has been far too long since we've had a quiz. And I'm horrible at them, but here goes anyway.

  1. If you had to live for a year on a desert island, what book, drink, and comfort item would you want to have?
  1. What is your favourite sinful food indulgence?
  1. What song brings tears to your eyes?
  1. If you could go back to any year of your life and live it over again, which one and why?
  1. If you could have any famous person, living or dead, over for dinner, who would it be?
CheerfulYank · 05/05/2011 02:23

Oooooh...I love a good quiz!

  1. Oh this is hard. I have always been able to read The Talisman by Stephen King over and over again, also Pride and Prejudice is one of my absolute favorites. Drink a)alcoholic would be white whine, b)nonalcoholic would be lemonade or water with frozen berries. Or mint hot cocoa. (I'm terrible at picking just one thing!) Comfort item would be a picture of DH and DS or a quilt I have. It was my grandmother's, and it's in absolute tatters because DH washed it once in the machine, not realizing how old and fragile it was. (He was really upset when he figured it out!) I won't be parted from it though.

  2. Brownies with homemade chocolate frosting or salt and vinegar potato chips. (Crisps :) )

  3. Oddly enough, it's Lynard Skynard's Simple Kind of Man. They played it at my grandfather's funeral and it really describes him. I loved him beyond words.

  4. Hmmmm...tough one! I'd like to go back to college and work harder, but then my life wouldn't be in the same spot it is now, probably. My senior year of high school was REALLY fun, so maybe that one. :)

  5. Michelle Obama...and she could bring the President too I suppose!

valiumredhead · 05/05/2011 11:52
  1. If you had to live for a year on a desert island, what book, drink, and comfort item would you want to have? Rebecca - supply of clean water - lots of moisturiser
  1. What is your favourite sinful food indulgence?anything chocolate
  1. What song brings tears to your eyes? Jerusalem - sung at both my G parent's funerals
  1. If you could go back to any year of your life and live it over again, which one and why? Ds's first year - I find it very hard to remember him as a baby and he's only 10!
  1. If you could have any famous person, living or dead, over for dinner, who would it be? Marylin Munroe and she can tell me what REALLY happened Wink
valiumredhead · 05/05/2011 11:53

Marilyn Munroe

valiumredhead · 05/05/2011 11:54

FFS MONROE!!!!!! [blush!]

valiumredhead · 05/05/2011 11:55

ARGHHHHHHHHH Blush

elmofan · 05/05/2011 15:55

1.If you had to live for a year on a desert island, what book, drink, and comfort item would you want to have? The gift by Cecelia Ahern , Tea or White Wine
Photo of Dh & dc's

  1. What is your favourite sinful food indulgence? Chocolate / Pavlova
  1. What song brings tears to your eyes? Nobody's Child My nan taught me to sing this when i was 5yrs old and every time i sang it she cried . Now the words always have me in floods too
  1. If you could go back to any year of your life and live it over again, which one and why ? The year i left school and met Dh 1992
  1. If you could have any famous person, living or dead, over for dinner, who would it be? Sandra Bullock I love her movies .
gomummygo · 05/05/2011 18:11

Mine would be:

  1. On a desert island: Not-too-strong lemonade with frozen raspberries, and our family photo album.
  1. Favourite sinful food: Salt and vinegar chips with goat cheese Blush. LOL, that will out me if anyone who knows me irl comes across this!
  1. Emotional song: Ever since pregnancy, it's Rod Stewart's
  1. Year to live over: 2006. DH and I travelled extensively and just had a lot of incredible once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
  1. Famous person for dinner: Could I say Jesus or would that be inappropriate? Because it would be incredibly interesting, and whether you believe in Christianity or not, most acknowledge that the man did exist. If I can't choose him and must be more current, atm it would be Greg Mortensen (sp?) - (wrote "Three Cups of Tea" and others, highly recommended).
gomummygo · 05/05/2011 18:15

Oh Cheerful, your DH must have felt so badly about the quilt! :( But LOL that you could share my food/drink!

Valium I haven't heard your song, who sings it? Or is there a linky?

Elmo that song is almost haunting....(in a beautiful but sad say, iykwim)

elmofan · 05/05/2011 18:37

I know gomummy - Blush Grin

Another song that always has me in tears is - Luther Vandros "Dance with my Father again "

CheerfulYank · 05/05/2011 18:45
makes me cry a bit too... Blush . It just reminds me that DS is growing up so fast! :(
elmofan · 05/05/2011 19:20

Cheerful that song is lovely i have never heard it before
just made me cry as ds used to love winnie the pooh
and his nursery was decorated all in winnie bedding, curtains
etc.

CheerfulYank · 05/05/2011 19:45

It is great, isn't it Elmo ? The whole CD is actually really good. When I taught preschool we listened to it at nap time :)

elmofan · 05/05/2011 19:56

Aww thats lovely Smile btw i think starting up your
own childcare business is a great idea, i always dreamed
of doing that myself one day.
So i say go for it Smile

gomummygo · 06/05/2011 02:08

Cheerful I really like his music in general, but that song is very poignant. Never truly understood when other people said it before I had DS, but they really do grow up so fast... :(

Elmo I imagine you must have (or have had, so sorry I don't know this) a very lovely dad for that Vandros song to make you feel that way.

CheerfulYank · 06/05/2011 03:57

I know gomummy ...today I was watching DS walk away from me at school and from the back he looked so big in his backpack and jeans. Like a big boy, not my lovely tiny baby at all! :( (Well, he's still beyond lovely of course!) And he's not even four yet!

It's that last part of the song that gets me "and I swear that old bear whispered 'boy, welcome home' ..."

elmofan · 06/05/2011 07:12

Gomummy i am very blessed to still have both my parentsSmile
I nearly lost my dad 10 years ago when he had a heart attack & a triple
bypass but thank god he's still with us today. We cherish every day with him
now Smile

candleshoe · 06/05/2011 10:54

I thought I'd lost you!

Hi everyone - it'll take me days to read back!!

Just marking my spot for later Smile

gomummygo · 06/05/2011 12:59

Oh I'm so glad your dad is ok Elmo. Happy for you that you are Daddy's girl. :)

It is awful isn't it Cheerful? Yesterday we watched a little video clip of DS at 4m, I have him wrapped up in his little winter bunting/snowsuit that was basically the shape of a star, just this little bundle of love...at the end he is asleep in his carrier and, well, just...... :( Blush

Welcome back Candle!
