Is there any celebrity well known person that is admired/deemed acceptable by the whole of MN?

I doubt it.

I'll start by throwing Lauren Laverne and Timmy Mallet into the mix.

Ian Hislop
Nicholas Parsons

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 24/03/2011 20:24

yy to dolly.
can we have Tony Benn too?

in fact, i think he and Dolly would make a great couple.

Georgimama · 24/03/2011 20:24

I love Helena BC and wish I could afford her living arrangements. Sounds bliss.

Emma Thompson also jangles my nerves. As does Stephen Fry. Hugh Laurie on the other hand - got to love Hugh. Sexy, funny, bloody good at silly songs. What's not to love?

I used to love David Mitchell until that 10 o'clock thing. I can't stand Charlie Brooker or Lauren Laverne.

ElectricSoftParade · 24/03/2011 20:24

Dolly for me, excellent choice. Please not that Davina woman, please, please and please again.

Pagwatch · 24/03/2011 20:24

Gizzard?

oohlaalaa · 24/03/2011 20:24

oooh I like Moira Stewart, David Attenborough and Bill Gates too.

MmeLindt · 24/03/2011 20:25

Who is this laverne person?

LetThereBeRock · 24/03/2011 20:25

No to Hugh Laurie. I detest House.

MardyBra · 24/03/2011 20:25

Another vote for Eddie Izzard.

Good call MotherNight - Ian and Nicholas are legends.

TaudrieTattoo · 24/03/2011 20:26

No to Eddie Izzard.

Not funny anymore, makes rubbish films and is a sixth form politician.

If we must have a man, can we have Mark Radcliffe?

MardyBra · 24/03/2011 20:26

I thought you were trying to be funny Pagwatch (sort of thing that happens to me Wink)

mrsbumbledosem · 24/03/2011 20:27

I worked with lauren once. Not very friendly at all. She doesn't strike me as a girls' girl

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/03/2011 20:27

I didn't know he was a philanderer.

TaudrieTattoo · 24/03/2011 20:27

Or Graham Norton. I like him. And he is gorgeous in real life.

And he and Dolly are great friends.

Pagwatch · 24/03/2011 20:28

No. Just crap. not funny.
As usual.

MmeLindt · 24/03/2011 20:33

Chaos
Before his cancer treatment he had sperm frozen. He and his wife went through IVF so that they could have children. When the children were quite little, he buggered off with that singer, whatshername..

I read his book and really admired him, and his wife for standing by him and being so supportive.

greentig3r · 24/03/2011 20:34

Another for Izzard.

How about Richard E Grant?

Lulie110 · 24/03/2011 20:34

I don't think that you could dislike Dolly, but why would you admire her?

But I do admire Eddie Izzard, for the marathons, and for sticking his head above the parapet re cross-dressing. Oh, and for the 'ooh est le singe' sketch which evem the mere thought of, makes me chuckle.

But Steve Redgrave - 5 golds, seems a nice chap, no dirt on him as far as I know. Also - achieved his record-breaking stash of golds 'despite' being diabetic - HIM I admire.

Psammead · 24/03/2011 20:34

Oooh, the yacht woman. Ellen Macarsomething.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/03/2011 20:35

Oh feck, see I know nothing.

spend all this time on the laptop and learn zilch

Gah

What about the lovely lady who does the weather on BBC Breakfast?

God I watch it most days - can't remember her name.

Love Sian Lloyd too.

Can't bear Charlie Stayt tho..

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 24/03/2011 20:35

No to Mark Radcliffe. He nearly ran me over in the car park at Maine Road once. I cannot admire a crap driver.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/03/2011 20:36

MacArthur - I was thinking about her too Spammy.

Why would you admire Dolly?

Songwriter, brilliant singer and musician.
Came from a depressed area - once she made money and became famous, built a theme park in that area which provides employment for most of the population.
Started a foundation to provide all children (in don't know how many but lots of deprived areas) of US and UK with a book a month between birth and starting school.
Great businesswoman - selfmade multi millionaire.
Great wit.
